I like the color design and the compositing for this new season compare to Season 2 did with their piss compositing and filter. But I like it so far of what I see in this first episode even though there are some rough animation and inconsistencies on the cuts, it still holding up my minimum expectation as a first episode.

honestly idc about the powerpoint animation, its the direction thats the worst, none of the shots flow together and it feels like a mash of unrelated scenes mashed into one. not even blue lock was like that

It took 6 years to make this, it had more still frames than Blue Lock season 2. The only motion had horrible repetitive motion and the weird backgrounds are lazy.

Ill start by saying i didnt even know season 3 is coming out.... And now my opinion: When Season 1 aired everyone was praising it as the best anime. Season 2 dropped and everyone was shtting on it. Season 3 drops and same story - everyone hates it. I do see why though.... The way it was animated reminded me alot of the "abridged series" animation style where if they want a character to talk they just freeze frame it and do mouth movements... sometimes awkward eye movements etc... same feeling from this episode

There's this uncanny feeling I'm getting with this animation style, like I can see something familiar, but it's just not... quite... right... A lack of movement is definitely a part of it, although even some of the characters don't really look like I remember them. Pacing seems weird as well, just overall a general drop in overall quality. I know this season is supposed to be quite action heavy, so the first fight scene will probably be very telling on how the rest of the anime is going to be. There is still some cope that says they spent all their time on the fights and at least those look really crazy cool, and they had to rush the rest

"Sonic lost 2 kilograms" was the punchline to the whole gag of sonic thinking that he's turning into a monster after eating the monster cells which gave him diarrhea because his body now "feels lighter".

Animation is not good because there is not much at this point. Art looks great. This is the first episode which means they had the most time to work on this one and nothing to show for it. Maybe they put most of the stuff into the 2nd episode. First impression is not great but i hope that they just focused more on the action episodes which are a lot more important for One-Punch man.

The 2kg joke flew over Luke's head. Tho explaining it kills the joke and makes it not funny. Luke over-explaining his loss of hype. :) So... What about Season 3 of To Your Eternity..? It's at ep 2.

Animation isn't good at all. The good little animation that I've noticed was Fubuki's (Hellish Blizzard's) hair waving while she talks...nothing else. All we need to do is now wait for the fights. Let's see what they can do with the fighting scenes...fingers crossed they won't butcher every second of the big fights there will be in the near future :(

FYI - the director of season 3 actually directed a few h-tai and Naruto shipuden episodes. I will absolutely say the art and recreation of character design is very good. Very similar to the manga. But animation is (x.x)

It feels like the season just lacks heart. It feels like stale eye candy. Looks great. But it feels so lifeless. Jokes aren’t hitting. The audio isn’t hitting either. And the transitions between cuts are choppy

One Punch Man S3 isn't as bad as everyone is saying. The problem is, it's really not that good of a show. It has some good, a lot of bad, and a lot of boring. S1 was just fight-fight-fight. Every episode. Fight. Season 2 started introducing new characters and an actual story. Season 3 is enhancing that story. The fact that only 24 hours have passed since Season 2 ended, everyone is in regroup mode. They're trying to figure out what's going on. They're strategizing so they don't get their butts handed to them when they fight the monsters. This is that boring chapter you have to get through after a lot of action so you can set up the next lot of action. I know, I know, plot--how horrible in a anime called One Punch Man. 🤣 And people complaining about animation, do you want everyone moving their shoulders and waving their arms and twisting their bodies unrealistically just to give you "movement"?

feels like the voices and faces don't match. The talking faces are just images floating towards some direction with the mouth moving. Some of the hero's voices are just off for me, kind of a let down but hopefully the fight scenes hold up in future episodes.

"is it just me or is it like no one is moving?" Yes Luke, this is what we call cheap animation, it's not necessarily bad but since the characters don't move to talk it's boring and not appealing at all we can only hope they saved budget here so they can put it on the fights later on

i am in the "to early to judge" group. If they cheaped out here to give us the best posible fight scenes, it would be worth it. But that does mean i expect them to deliver fight scenes that will be remembered as the best ones in the whole series, uncluding season 1. if they can't deliver that, i would certainly switch sides and call them cheap asses.

Monster arc wasn't my favorite arc, but there is definitely action in it. I do think if they were going to make us wait 6 years, that should have been the last episode of season 2. maybe.

Luke forgot that sonic cooked the monster flesh. sonic destroyed the monster cells so now he isn't transforming a monster, he lost weight and think that is him changing into a monster

Luke, come on, how could you forget that Tatsumaki is voiced by Aoi Yuuki. The voice of both Maomao in Apothecary Diaries, and Tanja in Saga of Tanja the Evil.

Personally, I think there were a few janky moments in the animation in this episode (mostly involving Atomic Samurai), but I'm not upset about it yet. Especially since we haven't seen it in a high action moment, its hard to say if those odd moments were just stylistic changes or something more. The overall quality of the art is still great. I *can* see why people are concerned (not a great sign if the first ep of a season has polish issues, since its the one they presumably had the least time crunch to finish), but at the same time, people criticized the Season 2 animation and I thought that was absolutely great. Happy to give them the benefit of the doubt unless something really egregious happens.

I... kinda doubt that JC Staff is going to be able to out-animate Madhouse, no matter how they proportion their budget between episodes. I'll be happy if they just deliver fights that feel worthy of OPM.

To me when people say "bad animation" for OPM that is just a generic placeholder for something they don't know how to describe is missing. For me, season 2 and so far with season 3, the issues can be laid in the lap of the director. For an anime that isn't supposed take itself too seriously, the tone and dialog are too serious. Then even when there were jokes, the jokes fell flat. For instance in this episode, there was a joke about Sitama going out to punch Garuo and pick up cabbage. When they did the punch line of "i'm also going to pick up cabbage" all they did was pause the music for the line delivery. In my opinion, a more comedic delivery would be for Sitama to have been drawn in his epic form with some sort of metal guitar strumming before transitioning to the next scene. This would be emphasizing that picking up cabbage is a more serious matter than punching the hero hunter that is wrecking havoc. In OPM season 1 there were various "serious" moments, but those "serious" moments were always used to setup the joke. In this episode, it was just serious scene with information dump, then it just moved on.

the plot of opm is unironically very interesting and arguably more entertaining than saitama himself, S2 and S3 should've cemented it, but it also relies on cool and flashy fights in-between. Second, dialogues aren't boring unless you make them boring with bad writing. Third, you can have animation even for dialogues, look at any romance anime or things like monogatari. No need to hate it just yet but having ep1 like this is saying something, not mentioning almost no advertising or trailers before it.

@Sai, haven't read all comments but no one is saying animators should die for better animation, but they had 6 years, cmon. There are fan animations better than this and i bet it took them less.

Yeah not necessarily 6 years in the making maybe they made it 2022 or 2023 and have limited staff since JC Staff has a lot anime adapted throughout the years especially 2023 and 2024 they have like 20 anime adaptation in a year. Which is a chaotic schedule.

Who is losing their minds? I'm not saying that to be a jerk and try to make you mad, it's a serious question in case I'm missing something. I have seen people complaining, but it is acceptable to critique something when its quality diminishes or was never present to begin with. People are also allowed to dislike factors of a thing, yet still enjoy it as a whole.
