Rem is best waifu

Chihayafuru is such an underrated anime. I own all three seasons and all the manga, I love the story. It is probably my favorite sport/game anime after Haikyuu.

Orieng

I love this show so much :)

Rem is best waifu

It is mainly a sports/game anime but has a romance side. The game is competitive karuta, a traditional Japanese card game that combines memory and speed. It is very unique imo.

Omer Durrani

OMG YES YES YES I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! THANK U FOR THE REACTION!!! (no im not exaggerating I adore this show)

Miky Horo

I love Chihayafuru so much OMG! Just watch it !!

Alexandre Le Lay

This "random" anime is one of the best sport anime there is

Sian Richardson

I really hope they give us a season 4 and adapt the end of the manga.

Comcross A

My favorite sports anime

Rem is best waifu

Yeah the ending is really good, however I doubt it will get a finale season.

Krawbs

I started watching the first season of this and it is really really good.

It's about a competitive card game called Karuta (KA-roo-tah) It's based on the famous 100 poem anthology collection called Hyakunin Isshu from the 7th to 13th century Japan. Basically each poem has 2 verses and each player faces 1 on 1 with an opponent. They each get 25 cards that contain the second verse of the poem. They place their own cards in front of them in 3 rows but in whatever order or placement they want, all face up. Then they have 15 minutes of memorization time to study their opponents cards. After the 15 minutes, the match starts. There is a reader who will read all 100 poems in a random order and as soon as he reads the first verse, the players have to take the card with the corresponding second verse if it's on the field of play. If the card is on your side of the board you simply take your card, but if it's on the opponent's side, you take it and send one card from your side to the other player, who will then place it wherever they like on their side. The player who clears their own side of all the cards first, wins the match. The sport blends agility, strategy, memorization, and stamina. Needless to say, it's a very niche game even in Japan.

Favorite anime/manga of all time, I'd suggest watching it to anyone into the medium! It's so beautiful and well written/animated. Though I'll also admit I'm biased too lol

Ristaroth

Yes finally omg I was waiting for this for so looooonnggg! One of my favourite anime ever and it's soooo underated because it's kinda niche. Hope you will watch it one day !

Kenny Vu

Yes, she is indeed trying to become the best card flicker🤣

Kenny Vu

Same here, it doesn't really compare to Haikyuu well but Chihayafuru has such an inspiring storyline behind Chihaya and does its drama well

Thanks for reacting to the Chihayafuru openings, please do also endings. It's a good-feel show that takes you into the pure Japanese SPORT / card game KARUTA world which is based on memorisation and quick responses to read poems. The anime explains the rules and stuff as it goes in a very organic way, so you don't need to search and study to understand it. The 1st season is from 2011 and it's a Josei title (demographic targeting adult females). You have not seen many Josei or Shoujo (teen girls) types of openings, so you missed all the hints regarding the relationships and possible conflict soo at least there were no spoilers for you :D Hope we can get more OPs aand EDs from Shoujo / Josei titles Yona of the Dawn Kamisama Kiss Kimi ni Todoke Lovely Complex My Love story / Ore Monogatari Ouran High School Host Club Fruits Basket 2019 EDs + 2001 OP/EDs Gokusen Paradise Kiss Kids on the Slope Servamp Hakuouki etc...

DRACO

I LOVE THIS SERIES!

Jean-Philippe Forest

please react to bakuman openings. hell, just react to bakuman altogether!

Stirret ~ Karina

One of my favorite animes! 😍 And you nailed it. She wants to be the best in the world in this card game 🥰

Osborn Malakhov

Bro won't you react to some endings? I'm still waiting for some D gray man, Darker than black, etc. Might not be the most popular animes out there but definitely some great music. Or do we only watch mainstream shit now?

Snow

This anime is top tier would love a reaction to it

Jonathan Kinney

This is an anime that will make you fall in love with a game you've never heard of. It's one of the best sports anime of all time, and I've never met someone who actually watched a full season who didn't like it.

Decayed Lulzul

This is an Omen, the amount of Chihayafuru content popping up in random places, season 4 surly is going to be announced.

Bersain Balbuena

It's one of a few anime that's interesting to watch even though you dont understand the rule of the game and have no idea what the characters are doing. The other popular one is Hikaru no Go, from creator of Death Note.

Nate Ming

Honestly, Chihayafuru is one you should watch As for future OP/ED reactions, I'm always gonna call for HAJIME NO IPPO

Gareth Green

You’re on the right track…

patros36

Try out Lookism, its a korean webtoon adaptation with OP done by Ateez

Joe

If you want chill, seasonal anime openings I recommend natsumes book of friends, I love those openings as they are just really nice

Sebastien Picard

Ooooh I second Kimi Ni todoke openings and endings, they are quite good

Sebastien Picard

And wth story writer the OST from eurêka seven is Magical my man🔥🔥 didn't think I'd see this today in a comment section

Sebastien Picard

Thank you sooo much for reacting to Chihayafuru, although the openings don't give much info on the show, Its Akin to a sports anime mixed in with a good love triangle, the hype is real, but it could indeed be considered underground anime nowadays😅 my second favorite anime btw♥️♥️

Toukbird

Someone already said it, but to TL;DR it, they are playing a game called Karuta, which is a competitive card memorization game where you need to capture all of your opponents cards (they have poems on them) as they are being read before they capture yours. There are individual games and games where you compete on five player teams where it’s a best of 5. It’s a REALLY good anime. A real shame we haven’t gotten a fourth season yet. Left off on a tough cliffhanger.
