Yes, her band is the same band. And so are the background singers (The Mamas) & key dancers. It doesn’t change much from 2006 when it started until 2019. BiBi (guitarist) retired in 2014 after OTR, drummers changed a bit too.

That's exactly the case, where my friend no longer could make the show. So my dad ended up coming. He had the best time, and still talks about it to this day.

BTW this was her first time ever performing the song. The video you watched during the Bday era was about 6 years later during the OTR tour after the cheating had already taken place. I'm not sure whether any of my comments you read or not, but posting just in case.

I’ve watched tens of thousands of hours of performances from all the greats. There’s absolutely NOTHING I haven’t seen my girl do over & over & over again. Yet & still when seeing something I haven’t seen in a while, one thing that still remains & that’s I am just left speechless. Here she was sick, you can hear the rasp in her voice when she talks but like the trooper she is, she will push through. She will perform in the rain, if able & if the conditions causes the concert to be delayed, she will pay to have the subways to stay open for the goers to get home, which she did here in DC during the second nite of the Renaissance Concert. She always wants her fans to have a great time & we do! One more thing, stop apologizing for not talking much. Believe me, your expression says it all & we can appreciate that. We have & still been there.🤭🤭😉

I wanted to come back to say this because you kept asking why she chose to do this. She had a point to prove. At the time people were saying she was all performance and choreography and couldn’t do a show with just a vocals stripped down without all of the production…. Real ones already knew the truth.

Yes! The only singer that comes to mind as maybe rivaling her (which would also be a great reaction imo) is Ella Fitzgerald. Mack the Knife live in Berlin in like 1954 is what my trained musician dad said was the greatest live vocal performance he'd ever heard (and how high the moon after it was great too). He unfortunately passed before I got to introduce him properly to Beyonce so I'll never know for sure what he would have thought, but I think he'd freaking love her too. "I Care" live at Beychella is imo the best live vocals of the current millenium at least and I can't wait for GOT to get to Coachella :D

The difference you’re hearing is illness. She’s congested and using even more technique to press pass it. It creates that tonal change and huskiness you’re hearing even in her speaking voice. It reminds me of smooth whiskey and fragrant cigars. The walk-thru entrance singing Hello and her performance of Satellites is one of my absolute favorites.
