Yes they did a special insert song as the OP for this episode but the actual OP was at the end. We'll probably get the actual ED next week.

A little note here regarding Ichigo Saitou (probably the reason why you Luke didn`t have any reaction to this): "Aqua`s bro from season 2" is Kaburagi-san, I suppose? (that one, who was behind the scenes during filming in this episode). And Ichigo Saitou (who was shown in the last seconds of episode catching fish, when Ruby came to him) is the guy from Episode 1 of S1 who founded Ichigo Prod., husband of Miyako-san, the guy who recruited Ai and was there all the time until her death (after which he started drinking and disappeared). That was supposed to be kind of huge reveal, so I guess Luke misunderstood it slightly, that`s why he didn`t react. Lastly, regarding the Akane and Aqua`s relationship: ONE of the reasons, why Aqua is casually dating her, is because she is an actor (as Luke mentioned) and dating is an OK thing for actors. But it is not OK for idols (Kana). Other reasons are more like spoilers, so I will not mention them.

Luke, Saito's first name is Ichigo (which means Strawberry in Japanese). What was the name of the agency that Aqua and Ruby work for? Mr. Saito is Aqua and Ruby's former agency's director. After the death of Ai he was so broken that he quit and left all the responsibility to his wife. Also, as you guessed the rules are not the same for Idols and actors. In her active period, an Idol is not permitted to date (...openly...) and Aqua is trying to protect the B-Komachi girls because he's still under the previous traumatic experience with Ai. For him even being on friendly terms is quite risky because of how people may interpret it.

About Akane safety, i think she's, as an actress, less exposed than an idol about having a boyfriend. Then, does Aqua date her because he's in love with her, because she's in love we him or because he wants to protect Kana and so use this official relation to keep her away ?

28:30 Akane explained to Aqua this in S2. Actors' careers don't usually get destroyed or damaged by dating publicly. Idols can have their career and future drop dead with just a photo of them talking to a guy on the street.

The person Aqua works with is Kaburagi, the guy he was talking with in the studio. Saito was Ai's manager, the one who left after she died. We haven't seen him since the very first episode

I also thought the same as Luke. It’s been too long since season 1, and the character’s design changed. I think they could have somehow made it more obvious who he was, if the goal was to make this scene a big reveal for anime only viewers. But it makes much more sense that he his the one helping her, he did it once with Ai, and Ruby would definitely track him down for this.

I mean there not that many characters in oshi no ko that are relevant. And what can be a more obvious way than revealing the full name? It is not their problem that we are not great at remembering Japanese names 😂. And for those, who didn’t get it in first episode, there will be more time and explanation in episode 2. Not even saying that agency, in which Ruby is, is called “Ichigo Prod.” and the guy’s name is “Ichigo”…

i suspect he likes both, but Akane is safer for literally everyone involved. He probably also has an unhealthy amount of self hatred and views himself as too dirty for Kana. Akane however has already pledged to help him in his revenge marking her as already tainted in his eyes just like him. Dating Akane truly is the safer route

The original manga is very aware of everything of current generation. Aka Akasaka researched various Japanese media, including the entertainment industry and social media, and made sure everything in the story was consistent with real life. You saw it in the first two seasons, and it is present in this season as well. Mem was originally a TikToker who became a YouTuber. At the beginning of the episode was not the opening but another song made by new B Komochi. The reason it is fine to date Akane, but not Kana, is that in Japan Idol fandom is crazier than the actress fandom. For an actress, dating is more acceptable, but for an idol, it is not okay. They need to be pure and innocent. I am not making this up; that's how the idol industry in Japan is. Also, Aqua and Akane have been dating from the start, and everyone knows it. You have already seen the dad in season 2, and he looks so much like Aqua. It is already well established that he is the dad, not anyone else. Ichigo Saito is the former director and founder of Ichigo Production or Strawberry Production, since Ichigo means Strawberry in Japanese. Ichigo Saito and Aqua & Ruby's dad are completely two different people. Yes, you are confusing yourself.
