Omg omg omg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Ruben

Yes lemonade movie first

pen

OMG

MykeYonce

saying Jay Z never gave off gangster vibes tells me that, yea you actually don’t know Jay Z 😂😂 he def is an O.G and was a G in his younger days. HOWEVER, he adapted into a family man after marrying Bey and them having Blue. I love how he has grown and matured over the years and now he’s all about speaking wisdom into the youth.

m

Ouuuu yayy

Amor

i could be wrong but i think this tour was after the rumors of jay z having an affair, also with the hair that’s another thing she’s known for.. call it “hairography” lol

KP

The line “of course shit goes down when there’s a billion dollars on the elevator” is referring to the time her and Jay went to the met gala with her sister Solange and solange whooped his ass in the elevator and the footage was released. Beyonce just stood in the corner quietly and only stopped her sister when she began kicking him. It was a huge scandal at the time and the way Beyonce stayed quiet in the corner made everyone think he had done something wrong. Even her bodyguard let solange hit him but not kick him. I think there was an understanding that he earned those slaps and punches from solange bc Beyonce would never do it. This was before lemonade so no one knew what happened and they’d never seen anything like it. This tour is right in the middle of the cheating/healing stage. He was in therapy and promised to do a tour/album as well. She was annoyed with him this whole tour. She was probably making lemonade at the same time. When he would mess up his verses sometimes she would look at him like 🔪 😂😂😂

smth positive_

So there’s an elephant in the room about Jay Z and it ends with stein

unie.bear

I really hope you listen to Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s album Everything is Love after you react to Lemonade and hopefully you’ll be able to appreciate Jay-Z’s lyricism more! Would love if you reacted to some of his albums as well

Cynthia Fenderson

He said exactly what you think you heard 😬🥴😂! Also it’s good to know that he does write any of his raps down on paper. It straight off the dome! He has a good catalog of music. It be an interesting rabbit hole to explore!

Matt

I'm sure it's partly the personal stuff going on, but when Bey's on stage, her acting skills are on another level. So I think most of the coldness you felt was her acting like a badass "gangster" to fit the theme of the tour. Also with Jay's voice, I don't think he gets enough credit for live performances. Like he's no vocalist, but he raps almost like he's singing. That's why he's appealing to me live. So many rappers do not sound good live because they don't pay attention to their tone. But the greats like Jay and Kendrick really know how to flow and keep a nice tone that fits the music they're rapping to.

MykeYonce

yes Jay Z used to sell. you should dive into his discography and see how his lyrics changed over the years for him. he’s all about teaching the youth to not follow his past lifestyle choices. just to start, you should react to the song “The Story of OJ” it’s on his latest album and then after that you should go to the beginning and start with his earliest SONGS, not albums, it’s not necessary and it’s entirely too much to react to lol. you can do videos in parts reacting to like 5 songs in each Jay Z video, such as the hit songs like Hard Knock Life, Big Pimpin, I Just Wanna Love U, Bonnie & Clyde ft Beyoncé, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, 99 Problems, Public Service Announcement, Lost One, Song Cry(one of my favorite Jay Z songs ever…so good), Izzo, Renegade ft Eminem, Show Me What You Got, Pray ft Beyoncé (not a hit song but it features Beyoncé lol), Run This Town ft Rihanna & Kanye West, Empire State of Mind ft Alicia Keys, Young Forever ft Mr Hudson (the live version with Beyoncé is 1000x better btw lol in my opinion at least) after you get those songs out the way, I think you can finally start reacting to FULL albums by him if you’d like, his last 3 projects were amazing: Watch the Throne (joint album with Kanye West and it also features artists like Beyoncé & Frank Ocean on the album), Magna Carta…Holy Grail (the album features Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, Justin Timberlake, etc.), and then lastly 4:44, and i’ll say if it’s any album you react to in full, it’s THIS one because it is a follow up to Beyoncé’s Lemonade and he gets REALLLLY deep and personal on the title track “4:44.” after the album 4:44, Beyoncé & Jay Z came out with their joint album EVERYTHING IS LOVE to complete the trilogy of “Lemonade, 4:44, & EVERYTHING IS LOVE.” EVERYTHING IS LOVE is also one that is necessary to react in full…btw, you will hear a lot of rapyoncé on that album 😈 you have a lot to get through but it’s worth it 😂😂

Amor

the two male dancers are “les twins” been with bey since 2011 and still are with her til this day and they’re from paris as well

T

Happy Black History Month! My daughter doing her BHM project on Bey and Jay!

Amor

the flawless remix happened AFTER the elevator incident with Solange (beyonce little sister) and Jay Z so yea that “elevator” line was referring to that 😂

T

I love how perceptive you are! She’s for sure different. That man stole our girl’s glow!!

T

You have officially met Les Twins! (No they’re not the original RTW dancers)

Marez Canvas

That new energy is SASHA FIERCE!😌💯

Saint

seeing nicki is def whiplash but it was a different better time haha

Mark

“Of course shit goes down when there’s a billion dollars in the elevator” reference to the net worth on the elevator when Beyonces Sister Was beating Jay Z up.

Saint

also cant wait for you to see Diva on this tour.. its one of my fave performances from her

Ana F

The theme for this On The Run tour was very Bonnie and Clyde. I think that’s why you get that additional attitude especially in the beginning. It’s us against the world is the vibes. I think that’ll become more apparent, the more you watch! I think self-titled overall was more edgy as well so I think it is all a part of the story telling.

Magdalena

I love your reactions! I always watch it with the biggest smile on my face. The way you appriciate my role model is bringing me so much joy! ❤️ Like the previous comments said, it was during the rumours, so I personally feel like half of this attitude wasn't staged. 😬 These two male dancers, ale called Les Twins. They're not the ones that Bey brought for the Run The World video, but They are crazy talented and famous in the dancing world. She's performing with them for years now. You'll se them a lot during her concerts.

smth positive_

He should Check out „Excuse me Miss“ by Jay Z & Pharell

jj 💜

Lemonade will be more similar to a “movie” than the Self Titled, then Black is King is the most movie of them all!

Teriagotemhookd

Gotta remember Bey knows she’s being cheated on so her energy is a little off. I saw the On The Run II in 2016! I left the concert hoarse lol

Orlando

Yeah, Jay is an enigma for those that never followed him, but he’s definitely worth the deep dive.

Orlando

Tom Ford is a luxury brand designer that Jay admires, particularly his suites

jj 💜

also yes Jay Z when he was younger sold drugs and eventually decided it was either continue to sell drugs or try to make money rapping so you’ll hear references to that and is journey of drugs to becoming a mogul. I don’t expect you to go on a Jay Z journey but i HIGHLYYYYY recommend reacting to 4:44 when you get to lemonade as part of the trilogy 🙏🏾 he is one of the best for a reason, his performance skill is above a majority of rappers and his lyrics and wordplay are insane and actually quite hard to grasp, and the way he does it without writing anything down makes it crazier. he’s extremely smart he’s just unfortunately a capitalistic asshole

Tabi Arrey

Jay-Z doesn’t write. He freestyles

Orlando

You getting a front row seat at how well Bey and her team does transitions and arranges songs… it only gets better from here

Angivens86

She's still glowing, but now she has life's experiences. We have to remember she started as a teenager. This is 30 something and grown, grown Beyoncé ❤️🔥🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾!!

Ale Villela

I can’t wait for Lemonade, Renaissance and CC

Angivens86

That's not true, but everyone wants it to be. As if Jay z was "Jay Z" in 1996.

Tabi Arrey

Also, the Billion dollars on an elevator line is in reference to the 2014 incident at the Met Gala where Solange was beating Jay-Z up (he didn’t fight back) in the elevator for cheating on her sister. The elevator camera feed went viral

douglas marcondes

I warned you to prepare for a new Beyoncé lol The whole infidelity situation had already happened at that point in their lives, they had resolved it some time ago, everything was fine at that time! Lemonade was when Beyoncé decided to talk about what happened, but nothing happened after that tour.

Curwin Sphere

"...shit goes down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator" is referencing the elevator incident that took place at a MET Gala event where Bey's sister went crazy attacking Jay allegedly because of the cheating. This incident is praised as the "Conception/birth of Lemonade" to an extent as it was basically the first real indication that things might not be perfect as it may seem from the outside looking in.

Milkyway

That energy you’re talking about is Sasha fierce

smth positive_

Jay Z was a drug lord before his music career and had enough money to invest in Rocafella records which was founded in 1995 Thiiiiiiink! 😩😩😩

Iron_claw

☝️🤡😆😂🤣🤢🤮🥱😴👎🗑

LaShawn

These comments are amazing & hilarious😂I have no notes✍🏾 lol crazy, I'm ready for part 2 already..

Cherisse Fletcher

Not sure if it's already on your list but Beyonce and JayZ have a joint album they did in 2018 after Lemonade that's worth checking out too.

Cherisse Fletcher

Oh it should also be noted that JayZ doesn't rap to a back track like ALOT of rappers do when they perform live. Gotta take your hat off to him for that. The breath control needed is insane

Edmina Liutkė

B isn’t cold or mad here, she is presenting a tough character. B is great at expressing masculine side in women. She’s playing into the theam that you saw presented on the screen right before they hit the stage.

Ania K.

U are absolutely right there. She cold because this is the time where she found out who the Becky with the good hair is aka that chick who Jay cheated on her with. So there is a lot of negative energy which luckily for us was transformed into a beautiful performance.

Bella Raye Maven

Love your reactions, Luke but you skipped two major concerts that you have to see for full context and to chronologically stay on the journey. It's imperative to understanding her genius mind. You skipped THE MRS. CARTER WORLD TOUR and MADE IN AMERICA FESTIVAL. I sent you the links in your last reaction video.

Bella Raye Maven

Yeah, he skipped two major concerts that can give context to his questions. I'm sure he will have A lot of them.

mateo duran

i need part 2 😭 can't belive ur reacting to this tour omg ilv this

Stacey A.

16:00- This is Beyonce show. Featuring Jay Z 🤣🤣💎🖤💛🖤💛🐝🐝🐝🐝

Stacey A.

24:51- this choreography reminds me of Janet Jackson's rhythm nation video. If you haven't heard any of Janet's music. That's a great artist to look at as well. Janet walked so Beyoncé could fly. Outside of Beyoncé, Janet is another great performer. That gives an amazing concert. I was able to go to her Velvet rope tour in 1998. 👏🏾💐💕

Lara Morrison

this is when her and Jay were working it out - she had only learned about Becky with the good hair a few months prior - she is cold on this tour for good reason.

Stacey A.

46:37- one cool fact about Jay Z . He doesn't write down any of his lyrics. He commits each song to memory. 🤯🎤

Lara Morrison

the elevator line is referencing security footage from the elevator at the met gala that went viral showing solange beating jay z up while beyonce and her security just stood there. It was the first sign something wasn't quite right in their relationship and they never addressed it before this song.

Bey Brown

How did we get here? I love OTR but what a detour!

Monique

Love your Beyonce reactions as always. I'm a Native New Yorker born & raised in Brooklyn & Harlem & I witnessed the birth of Hip Hop, so you may be here for Beyonce but if you're serious about learning about the history of rap & hip-hop, then you have to know the work/art of Jay Z outside of his marriage to Beyonce. Until last night he had the most Grammy wins of any rap artist at 25 (Kendrick just beat him) & is in the pantheon of greatest rappers of all time. Jay's life story & evolution is quite inspiring. Check out this is 14yr old 20 min interview he did with Charlie Rose of 60 Minutes to get you started. https://youtu.be/KS_imMLbmyw?si=yg8gfJPewZtxfUb1

Candice Williams

yes, Jay was into the drug dealing scene early in his life before fame, yes Bey's energy was "chilling" she was in the thick of the infidelity and forgiveness stage, this concert was their "coping/lets heal/lets purge this grey area in our lives" execution to heal.. the elevator reference.. just go watch the YT clip that shows some ish goes down.lmao... cant wait for part 2 of this concert review!!! love these Bey reactions!

Senè

this concert was their healing moment i think ... i don't think this is the thick of it.. i think this it the tail end of it. This concert probably brough them closer together ... you will see by the end of it how it all comes together. I saw this concert live it was one of the best concerts i have ever been to....both her and Jay z killed it. BTW LUKE You could've/should watch the elevator clip right before starting your next taping so you can understand what she meant when she said "of course shit goes down when there is a billion dollars on an elevator"

Mia Speakz

Look up what happened on the elevator between Jay-Z and Solange. That's when we found out he was cheating and solange(Beyonce lil sis) was pissed and attacked. Beyonce allowed it for a bit then shut it down. If your wondering why the billion $ on the elevator line exist

ThatSingerReactions

lets just say that hardcore energy you feel from Beyonce could possibly be the reason lemonade came about lol you are heading into the Mariana trench of Beyonce now lol

Bey Brown

The last concert you seen was from her 3rd album. She’s a whole different animal here going into her 6th. The 2 intimate performances you chose were not concert energy at all, they were like at home experiences… Basically, this is 100% Beyonce, you skipped the transition.

Bey Brown

No one knows the timeline exactly, it’s all speculation. They did not tell us, we all thought they were happy here. Although now we know they worked things out by the time this tour ended (2014). You skipped the last 3 songs, the Nikki version was one of them

Danielle

I honestly don't know why you listened to the people who said watch OTR Part I right after the Beyoncé album because you're not familiar with the true Goat rapper that is Jay-z! He's more than just Beyoncé husband and is a living legend himself! Also, it would of been better to just watch her in concert by herself, like the Budweiser Made In America Concert or the Mrs. Carter second leg version, but I digress. And we don't even f with that MagaBarbie anymore, what a tragedy!

Shannon

If you want to get to know Jay-Z watch his induction into the Rock N Roll hall of fame. It was beautifully done. Dave Chappelle presents him with the award

Saphire

Luke I think you may want to do a Jay Z deep dive to understand Jay. The more you understand him and his music, the more you will understand why Beyoncé chose to be with him. They both take their art very seriously. I would recommend starting by watching his interview with Charlie Rose as well as the Fade to Black documentary film that highlights him at the peak of his career. Here is the video: https://youtu.be/GcWQcF0lu1U?si=5Vyr80k86RBzk_IU

rere

You always catch up on so fast. Love watching your channel. You are very right about Jay-Z, he was very much the Drake of his era, his ability to make really good music while also having intricate rhyme scheme and cadence was really generational.

Aiofe

JayZ has shown consistent growth throughout his music. Even when he messes up and backtracks, it has been followed with more maturity. I wouldn’t compare that to Drake “Peter Pan” Graham

Aiofe

He dabbled in a lot of Beyonce’s live performances before he started working his way through her discography. He will be just fine doing the same with JayZ. This will wet his whistle & he can explore Jay more in his hip hop journey

Aiofe

LUKE!!! You are FEEDING us this week. Hamilton all weekend, now OTR!!! 😁😁😁

Any

Was surprised too but love it! Not the same script others reactors have

Any

Oh she was MAD buddy! Remember this when Lemonade comes around. Jay is a legend, you shoud search him a bit before next album. Love this THANK YOU 💙

Any

Different dancers! His is Les twins, from France, they will be with her in a lot of projects

Karry forde

When they did this tour , the Jay-Z 's infidelity was being talked about a lot. Beyonce was very vulnerable during this tour. But as usual she's a professional so she pushed through. Luke if you want to know about Jay-Z, watch his rock and roll hall of fame induction. He is very intelligent and a top tier lyricist of all time❤️❤️❤️

Aaliyah Fountain

The two guys dancing along side Beyoncé is the Les Twins her first set of twins 😂

Just Tika

As legend would have it apparently she was upset at the start of this performance

Noni

This tour was allegedly their marriage counseling homework. So, Bey was definitely dealing with a different energy versus her other tours, if true. She was extremely in love before and was now reconciling in front of their fans.

fry

not people want you to react to the elevator incident😭😭😭 messy

TheHufflePug

That’s what I thought as well. As he went on about a change in energy, all I did was just nod. There was an undoubtable distancing, and closed off energy

Nope

“I’m here for Beyoncé.” “She’s the biggest artist on the planet and that’s not big enough.” No reactor gets it like you 🙂‍↕️

Saimmyboi

Please dont forget her 2014 VMA’s performance 💕 it’s fantastic

HKAMILAH

Please can you react to the bonus songs from the album before you move on to anything else?

Monique Parra

Ive followed you through every journey and im loving this beyonce journey. i just wanted to mention that jayz isn’t just a guy who knows how to make fun good music. He is a lyricist, he can rap his ass off with good songs. I have been a fan of jay z since I was a child. Definitely worth checking into his music. PS I don’t like his live performances tho LOL

Milkyway

He already did that

K

Regarding LEMONADE 🍋 The year is 2016, Feb.6th One single accompanied by a video drops exclusively on tidal. (Formation) Feb. 7th Beyoncé has a guest appearance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show with Bruno mars and Coldplay. The performance is over and a commercial pops up. Her announcement for the formation world tour. Feb. 9th Tickets go on sale. Apr. 16th Beyoncé posted a teaser on Instagram with the caption: LEMONADE 4.23 on HBO Apr. 23rd the visual album premiered on hbo 4 days later the tour starts. 🐝When the tour was announced we had no idea if we were getting an album let alone a movie.

Saddiquah Artis

THIS!!! I was like wait, what??? He’s not Drake, this is a straight Lyricist!

Saddiquah Artis

Baby that man was never a “Drake” of any era TF🤦🏾‍♀️😂😂😂

Saddiquah Artis

Thank you! All of this speculation on she was cold because of the infidelity, but the truth is we don’t actually know! They never confirmed one single detail!

Saddiquah Artis

Why lie? That’s not true at all! Neither ever confirmed a timeline on any events!

Roberta Pannell

Literally commenting for the 1st time to say this! The album doesn't get hyped enough IMO. 'Over here we measure success by how many people successful next to you, here we say you broke if everybody broke except for you' is my go to. Plus Bey hyping up the legacy she built, Jay quoting Blue and then another Blue cameo💙

Roberta Pannell

Hard agree! The visual experience is so much ART that sometimes the lyrics get lost. Im one of the few dissenters that think listening to the album 1st makes the visuals so much more powerful, especially where some of the songs are cut short or realizing some of the spoken word are actually the song lyrics.

Roberta Pannell

There is a documentary for the linkin park/jay-z collab and concert- live performances and behind-the-scenes. I think you'd enjoy.

Milkyway

The quality of the video you’re reacting to look so low

Milkyway

This may help on some of your journey! This link has pretty much all of Bey's live performances, documentaries, interviews, and just all kinds of stuff. I know some of the videos can be hard to find, so I thought it might help to share. https://badassyonce.wixsite.com/badassyonce2

Danielle

Naw this isn't that & everyone else seems to agree in the other comments about the way he is TALKING about Jay...He was not like that when discovering Beyoncé! Some respect needs to be had, is what I'm saying! And that's all I have to say about it!

Felicia Brown

Lmao the confusion 🤣 okay Luke… so Onika is Nicki Minaj (a rapper who we’ve now cancelled 🤣) she was featured on the flawless remix. The 2 male dancers aren’t the guys from Africa, they are the Les Twins from London (I believe) but they are pretty much gonna be with her at every concert from here on out. Beyonce often refers to them as her “first set of twins”.

Felicia Brown

Also, the “billion dollars on an elevator” saying is from a viral moment after an awards show where Solange (beys sister) beat up Jay-z … cameras caught them coming out of the elevator solange looking pissed, bey slightly smiling and jay-z holding his face from being slapped 🤣🤣 please look this up. Lmao

Felicia Brown

And yes Jay-z used to sell drugs before he was famous lol

Bella Raye Maven

My sentiments exactly! I tried to inform him of this as well. He skipped two major concert performances and context to a lot of the questions he will have.

Bella Raye Maven

We love Luke, but he's clearly not reading all of the comments or at least Googling the correct timeline. I tried to tell him. He's gonna have so many questions

Zandile Mzingaye

Omggg your observation wasn’t off when it came to Bey’s energy at the beginning. They were in the thick of their marital issues during this time.

One Blacque Gyrl

I’m kinda glad cause otr always kills my eyes

Danielle

You ain't never lied!! I'm with you totally, being trying to express the same things! Smh

Gemini

You’ve now cancelled. Speak for yourself not others.

StickyKeys

I know Nicki Minaj is a hot mess now, but I will always love her for "Propofol, I know they hope I fall!" :D

StickyKeys

Was Holy Grail in this section? I love you, Luke, but I can't watch this whole thing! :O

Jasmine Hearn

OMG the laugh I laughed when you said Jay doesn’t give gangster!! I said you sweet baby lamb lmao. A billion does that to you but yeeeeaaa baby he DEFINITELY was a gangsta.

fry

I mean, did you see the reception of her at the grammys? The industry practically canceled her and a lot of people who liked her are very upset with how she is moving

Qweencasss

Him asking if Jay sold snow hahahah I cackled 😭

Joe Gemel

The two male dancers with Beyonce - the tall ones with the afros - are called Les Twins. I don't know a ton about them except they're French dancers and maybe models who you'll see come back again for Homecoming
