I saw it getting a Xanadu treatment in my mind. Google the Olivia Newton John song Xanadu or read about the movie also starring her from 1980, I think. That said, I did enjoy the aesthetic and the bringing of dancers and the guests from Graham Norton together.

given how locked down the set and filming for Fate of Ophelia was, to the point they weren't even audibly playing the track on set, and the Opalite video has multiple people lip-synching to it and lyrics on the karaoke screen I'm willing to bet that it was not recorded until after that night. I think probably she had that notion on stage when Domhnall said he'd like to be in a video and she made That Face, and cornered them all in the green room or something like "I don't have details yet but I'll be recording another video for the album soon and it would be hilarious if ALL of us were in it and I could use our introductions from tonight's show and Dom's comment as the credits and stuff, you guys in?" ETA: YUP seems to have been essentially exactly that, just not the day of XD

It's late 80's/90's! And it's essentially me as a teen, so much so I'm freaking out a little. I had the same hair and style and my husband (we met in 1995 at 16/17) had ALL the geometric sweaters! This is very Happiness coded (it's in my top 5!). The rock and cactus weren't 'the one,' but they still deserve love and happiness! They aren't as harmful to each other as they were to their human partners.

One of the things I love about the choices is that generally fashion takes a while to distribute through society. The look of the characters is a lower economic class than Taylor herself is, so it would make sense if there's crossover of styles! I'm so delighted by it, it's totally my teen years in every way, even Taylor's hair!

It’s 90s with late 70s and mid 80s influences. I see the 90s but was a baby in the 70s. This video is coded to the pallet and look of 78-86 with very dominant 90s overtones. In my opinion. Very fun to watch although I envisioned more of a fairy godmother of the disco vibe for the song à la Olivia Newton John in Xanadu.

yes! Karen is the first girl from the ad, Natalie is the girl that tries to sit at the bar, the other aerobics dancers are eras dancers etc. all the dancers and the singers are in it

Taylor is in a relationship with Rock who is not giving much and weighing her down. "Travis" is with a cactus who pricks him every time he tries to get close. They hear about the Opalite Spray which is advertised as "the revolutionary fix to all your problems". "Travis sprays it on the cactus and Taylor sprays it on herself (because she thinks she is the problem - It's me, hi, i'm the problem it's me). Then when her and Travis get together they get to be goofy and silly together and it attracts other goofy silly people (Lewis Capaldi) but it also attracts the haters (them getting the "0" score at the competition) but they are happy and laughing regardless. Graham Norton makes an appearance with a different spray called "Nope-alite" which would undo everything and Taylor instinctively puts her hand out for a sample because that's what she's had to do in the past but "Travis" stops it. This video is riddled in metaphors and easters eggs but it's so fun!!

OMG EASTER EGGS I FOUND: 1. The friendship bracelet representing the eras tour and Travis failing to give her the friendship bracelet that he wanted to give her!! 2. Her nails are painted blue and green for the debut album I think that might be about to come out because she said it was basically finished!! 3. All the people in this video sat on the couch with her in The Graham Norton episode that she was on for the album release plus some of the tour dancers and even Graham Norton is in here!!! 3. On the book case behind Taylor there is a book or magazine that is debut color and has TV on it. When she is singing karaoke it says they’ve seen it before, they’ll see it again, could mean we are getting Debut TV soon. Her nail color was blueish green in the beginning and towards the end is silver so Rep TV vault tracks after that?! 🤷‍♀️
