"Monogatari" Simply means "Story"

Irimu

There's like 100~ crimson demons total (estimate) so naturally each year would not have many new students. If anything it's weird that there's so many.

IClickedOnce

A reaction to the ED would be in order, the visuals are so funny

IClickedOnce

I seriously can't wait for every episode in this show. It's so fantastic

Sai

23:21 - What? I never realized how little Luke knew of chuunibyous. You people need to load him up on more chuuni anime. DIMENSION HELL BREAK!! Ahahaha!

patros36

oh man, i was excited for dr.stone :/

Tim

The Crimson Demons are basically an entire clan of chuunibyou. You should watch Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai! (Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions) sometime - it explains the concept of chuunibyou perfectly.

Thanny

Crawfish, crayfish, crawdads, and mudbugs are the same thing. They might even be called freshwater lobsters.

Amberyootoob

Technically this isn’t a spinoff, it’s a prequel.

Ron Farmer

That song remains one of my favourites to this day. The full version and a megumin only version is on Youtube. Written by one of my favourite artists too, Yeye😊

TKD_Weirdo

Ah yes, Kageyama from Kageyama-sama: Love is war, not to be confused with Kaguya, the black-haired setter from Haikyuu

Skebaba

Bukkorori is the reason why you at least get 1 or 2 basic earth manipulation spells as a mage... Remember, juniors! You ALWAYS have to have spells for DPS, utility (and/or mobility) & defense, at the very least. If you have to sacrifice something tho, ditch utility & configure a DPS & Defense build at the very least.

44:27, i like to think that, this is "The great rabbit" mabeast from Re:Zero. That ended up here after Beatrice put them in a Isolated Dimension at the end of Season 2, and somehow got here.

Zamara Vurdett

Love the ending song its precious. And sung by Megumin and Yunyun.

Jacob

Bakemon = Monster or ghost Bakemonogatari combines the two words. So the title of that anime is Monster/Ghost Story.

Jacob

Arue is the aspiring author that wrote the letter (that was actually a story) to Yunyun that convinced her that she needed to have Kazuma's baby in the movie. Funifura (one of the classmates) is voiced by Miko Iino from Kaguya / Riko from Made in Abyss

Nikkelz

I'd advise not putting your email on public boards. Be safe out there~

Savingstumps

"I like to think that cat is the demon king in disguise or some shit" interesting thoughts there.

Ara Araragi

It's obviously a lot easier to make the portmanteaus in Japanese with the "mono (物)" kanji, but I like when the titles work in English, too: Bakemonogatari = Monstory/Ghostory (Monster/Ghost + Story) Nisemonogatari = Impostory (Imposter + Story)

Ara Araragi

If "King of the Court" Kageyama was called Kaguya instead, there would be so many "moon princess" jokes after he met Tsukki 😂

Ara Araragi

Young Megumin: "How can I become like you?" Mysterious woman: "You want to learn explosion magic?" Young Megumin: "I was talking about your massive boobs, but I guess I'll settle for explosion magic."

Vicente Machuca

they said in i think the movie, that the whole "race" of crimson demons were created by the same dude that created the mobile fortress, they are all like that trying to look cool over everything else, but also they are every single one of them top tier magic users.

Vicente Machuca

when you ask why no one died in the village, this is it, they are ALL arch wizads the higher level of wizard, that's why they had the fisherman and baker there defending the village, even they are elite mages

zenting

41:28 - That translation was literally correct. これが… 寝取られ ("kore ga netorare" = "This is cuckolding").

From Wikipedia... "Monogatari (物語) is a literary form in traditional Japanese literature, an extended prose narrative tale comparable to the epic. Monogatari is closely tied to aspects of the oral tradition, and almost always relates a fictional or fictionalized story, even when retelling a historical event. Many of the great works of Japanese fiction, such as the Genji monogatari and the Heike monogatari are in this monogatari form."

this was a fun series. the wild thing is i started it not knowing anything about konosuba. i still havent watched any of the main series yet. Is that something i should add to my list? This is beautiful in its zaniness. what works is when they are consistent in crazy. if the rules are there are no rules it all works :)

Madara_Uchiha_2022

Yes obviously you should watch the main series, it’s all worth watching, especially the dub version it is sooooo super funny

Earl Preston

Thanks! I'm assuming it's a similar art and tone style then?

Madara_Uchiha_2022

It’s from the same author and same animation studio and the main series is technically way funnier than the prequel series

Earl Preston

Thanks! This was fun so it should be worth it

I finally started the original Konosuba. I just finished episode 6. I cant belive ive never watched it :D it's right up my ally. slapstick ecchi-light comedy. It's odd megumin is a bit more lewd i guess in the original. though i guess its just the portrayal of the whole party. it is so odd having gone "backwards" in a sense and getting to the main timeline. Its weird we havent seen yun yun yet but shes in the opening credits. unless shes a late first season reveal? I'll definitely have fun watching this. Thanks again Madara_Uchiha_2022 for pushing me to watch it - well convincing me to watch it.
