5:43 This question was basically answered a few episodes ago (it might've been last episode) when all might explained how if someone like Shoto with Half-hot Half-cold were to inherit OFA he would be a SUPERHERO. That point out that if the inheritor of OFA had a quirk previously, they would indeed have it on top of OFA.

Krawbs

Gran Torino: a Yoda reference Luke: He reminds me of Ace Ventura

Awsmspaceball

Midoriya finally learning how to truly use One for All is so hype!!!

Kanogawa_Hiro92

Luke's quirk: Forgetting all the info that has been explained before.

Kyle Garrett

One of the things I like the most about early MHA is how Deku learning to use his quirk feels natural and makes sense. Starts off full blown destruction of the specific spot he activates it in, then he starts learning to reduce the power, and now he's realized that instead of activating it in one place at a time, he should be spreading it across his entire body. It's such a good way to power up Deku, because it's not only gradual, but feels like a logical and natural progression of him learning to use his power.

Potato

He is actually named after the movie Gran Torino in which theres an old mentor figure which is what his characters is referencing

Vinnick

Your reaction to Gran Torino of 'if anime's taught me anything, never underestimate an old dude', is very similar to the incredibly, INCREDIBLY important 'Rule One' from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (specifically Thief Of Time): "Do not act incautiously when confronting little bald wrinkly smiling men!" Basically for the exact same reason.

GhostZethAaa

Gran Torino: "Toshinori was entrusted to my by my dear friend who passed away", Luke: "Was All Might predecessor a villain?". Like, how.

Taraster33

I like to think that all the events that occurred prior to Deku's realization were coincidence. But since he used his old thinking when using the microwave it resulted in the unevenly cooked snack. When told how to correct it, the answer just slipped into place since he was so close to the answer already. It makes me wonder if for the rest of this anime, every new boost in power will occur from some interaction with a microwave. If so that would be amazing.

Vivica the witch

Gran Torino is too good at his yoda impression he even fools the audience.

Rainet

That would make more sense if the two characters had anything in common besides their age. They're both old, and that's about as far as the similarities go. Meanwhile, the author has explicitly confirmed that he was intended as a Yoda reference.

Rainet

"Beware an old man in a profession where men die young" is never truer than it is in anime lol

Maks Lesniewski

Furthermore, if a person with a Quirk received One For All, One For All would empower that person's base Quirk.

Shadow 55

Keep watching. The One for all power will be explained in time.

Kanna kamui

day 19 of asking for double reactions 🥲

15:20 You may not realize it but the way Gunhead speaks in Japanese is not particularly "masculine", which is why Uravity thought his way of speaking sounds "cute". 20:00 yeah basically Deku only knows how to turn his power when he wants to use it once like turning on the faucet, but he doesn't know how to manipulate the faucet to decrease and increase the power however he likes, or how to focus on using powers in his legs then immediately switching to his arms, or during the jump, so he's having trouble timing the use of his powers to be used as easily as one breathes and controls the amount of air they breathe instantly, instead of every action being done stiffly like a robot in a step by step way.

darkchaos125

Forgetting and overlooking details that was given anywhere within 3-5 seconds after seeing it or from the same episode or episodes ago

darkchaos125

Either his memory is bad or Luke reading subs and actually remembering what he read are two separate things for him.

Zarrowk

Knowing the anime, I think I enjoy more Luke's crazy theories about what will happen or who is what :') Since he's traumatized he just make theory about every little thing, sometimes he's spot on, sometimes not at all and it's kinda fun ! And yes it's One For All, not the same as All For One, clearly not the same meaning since it's a power that is given, it would make no sense for it to be All For One.

davguev

You should definitely know what your blood type is. In fact, your ID card should say what's your blood type in case of an accident. Surprised it's not the case for the UK.

Kenneth Landa

It doesn't matter if you rewind bro, but catch the important things of the show, like seriously pls

davguev

What amazes me is that Toshinori is really such a bad teacher he didn't tell Deku to use One for All that way from the beginning, or at least somewhere before this encounter.

Kenneth Hoerz

Of course if you overpower just one area of your body it's going to blow out. You body is a mass of interconnected systems, you need to have every part of your body working together just to do one thing.

LookingForOwls

This isn't related to Deku "blowing out" - he already solved that issue by imagining the egg not exploding. This just solves his extreme slowness in using the quirk.

TheKnightwatchOfficial

In Luke's defense, he is watching like 10 other anime at the same time.

SmashArms

That comment was saying if Shoto had OFA then SHOTO would be a super hero.

Awsmspaceball

Keep on going. Maybe one day your efforts will pay off 🫵🏻✊🏻

SamJaz

I mean with all the star wars references so far- tatooine, dagoba, etc, The comparison is Yoda pretending to be mad in Empire, right?

Varjokissa

This episode is first what is include this awesome ost at the end. I'm tearing everytime when hear it 😭 so epic!

AuroraRaiju

The only thing Luke would love more is an entire episode dedicated to Tsu in the Navy. It's really unfortunate they never made one, I aslo love froppy and really wanted to see that

One G. O A. T. One Dream

You may think thats a bad quirk, but Luke can rewatch a great anime over and over, with every time feeling like the first. And every predictable plot twist taking him by surprise. bow before his watching power!

Rugo

"zygote" is basically a fertilized egg cell, so he's basically calling him a sperm cell cause of how young he is haha, just one step up i guess

Soiren

So, mildly interesting thing, your blood type IS something you should know, and we used to learn our blood types in biology class (at least in the US). It fell out of fashion because people decided biology class was not the best time to find out that you're either adopted, switched at birth, or your mother is a cheater. Also, parents were also complaining about it so sending the test home also didn't work either.

Robert Pierce

I really wish they either had Kendo pull out of the internship or add a third girl to do so. While I think it's actually great to point out that hero work, having a big part of your ranking and potentially PAY be tied to essentially being a celebrity, harshly drives heroes towards more or less being exploited for their looks and popularity.... it would have been nice to at least show ONE girl reject that and try to be a hero without it. Especially since we're basically talking about Highschool sophomores here. It's not like we've never had anime willing to address how abusive that sort of relationship is, all they needed was one or two lines to cover that base.

Ara Araragi

In his defense, being a dear friend and also a villain isn't unheard of (take Charles Xavier's relationship with Magneto, for example). But I agree that it's still baffling he jumped to that theory considering none of the context we've been given points to that interpretation.

Toasted Toad

The author is a Star Wars fan and the manga/anime makes multiple Star Wars references (the first big monster battle we see in episode 1 is in Tatooin Station, the beach is Dagoba beach, etc.) Aspects of Gran Torino are clearly modelled after Yoda
