not first

Kyle Jr.

Todaroki is a real sweet kid, think about what hes gone through, think about all the hurt and the abuse from his parents, he could easily be a villain but no hes never once tried to hurt anyone else, he was just so focussed on being a hero above his father. what great story telling, he just needed a push to move forward. and Iida now is experiencing that.

Notora

i need double reactions. i get when you don't have time for it... doesn't mean i don't yearn for them regardless tho xD

Kyle Jr.

Next episode is going to hit like a train! ugh hate waiting till saturday!

Maks Lesniewski

If you took away Endeavor's inferiority complex, I think he could really be a decent person. He did ultimately always want to be a hero who helps people, but I think being part of a business that treats heroes as quasi-celebrities made him obsessed with success. That's not to excuse his actions towards his family, because they're genuinely inexcusable, but I'd like to think that there could be an alternate timeline/universe where Endeavor is a good person who is adored and celebrated by all.

OrcoBello

I finally finished MHA last weekend, and boy, what a final season... I can't count the number of times I reflected "I just know Luke will lose his mind watching this". MHA is one of the rare series that goes better and better as the seasons progress. But, no spoilers here, so I'll just say, if you think it's getting dark, you ain't seen nothing yet, MHA goes very dark at times, especially toward the end. Enjoy!

Maks Lesniewski

Also, what?! Did Todoroki say he's worried ABOUT A CLASSMATE?! Damn, what a deep character, what other teenager would be worried about their classmate going through having a loved one in the hospital.

Virtual Diva

If you go back to the episode that his flashback is in, you actually notice that when Iida leaves (before Deku and Ochaco catch him), Todoroki is the only one who turns and notices him leave before everyone else. When Deku and Ochaco are talking to Iida, you can also see Todoroki in the background as well, showing he was secretly concerned about Iida as well. It’s a super neat detail. Todoroki is Infact incredibly caring, even if he seems stoic. Another detail, the soundtrack you said you really liked when Todoroki appeared is actually his theme specifically !! :) The first time you hear it is during his fight with Deku, when Deku starts getting under his skin. Also an incredibly small detail, but I like how Manuel calls for Iida by his first name, Tenya. Especially when in a formal setting like an internship where calling him by his surname would be far more the norm. It shows how much Manuel did genuinely worry about Iida’s mental state and him as a person, despite it just being an internship (that he also confessed he had no interest in actually interning with, only that it’s firm worked close to where the Hero Killer was sighted). Stain has said multiple times that All Might is the only hero he respects, and that he purges heroes he believes to be “unworthy” and holding society back. That’s why when Shigaraki approached him to work together, and told him he hated All Might and his motivation was simply just “destroying things he hates”, Stain told him they were nothing alike and wouldn’t work with him. When he said they still had some similarities, he meant they had the same overall goal — destroying current hero society, just for different reasons. Stain wants to destroy it to reform it into something better, by making an example of “bad heroes” and spreading his message. This is why he gives Iida actual good advice, and acknowledges Deku. Shigaraki wants to destroy it forever because he hates it. You learn more about Shigaraki’s actual backstory and reasons much later into the show, but what you’re meant to grasp of Shigaraki’s character is that he is very childish, hence alot of characters comparing or speaking of him like an isolant child, and his “master” is a mentor like figure to mold him, because he is easily impressionable like a child. Shigaraki is also fairly young for a villain as well, being only 20. In the dub his va clearly portrays what the character is going for extremely well. About Endeavour as well, he still goes beyond just being a bad father in terms of his faults and wrong doings, so it’s not so much that he’s a good guy and just a bad father, but more so that Endeavour is incredibly good at what he does as a hero. He’s still gruff and fuelled with resentment towards All Might because he wants to be no.1 — and perhaps a hero should not be so focused on ambition, rather than saving lives, a certain hero killer might say. But Endeavour is very skilled, both in intelligence and combat, which is why Shouto learning to try and move past his own resentment will help himself in the long run too. Endeavour also has the highest tally of resolved cases in history as a testament to his diligence as a hero, but All Might still took the no.1 spot out of sheer popularity and charisma that Endeavour just didn’t have, which was a huge point of growing resentment and drive for him to “create” someone who would surpass him even if he couldn’t.

TheJFKexperience69420

Endeavor is kinda like Bakugo, but his way to be best is unreachable, because All Might is just too OP. So he tried to get his kids to be a better version of him and he took his frustration out on them (verbally and physical).

TheJFKexperience69420

there are some, that find the next few seasons bad, but I think it is not, it was just a little on the lower flame to build out characters and the world. This is needed to make the last few seasons just that better.

Maks Lesniewski

Not really. While I can believe Endeavor deep down has noble reasons to wanna be a hero, in Bakugo's case "helping people" isn't even in the top 5 reasons why he wants to be one.

Barack O. Llama

no, we aren't getting new insight to how stain thinks. he's said over and over since he was introduced that he wants to kill fake heroes and that he is fine with actual good heroes. he even said that he would let almight kill him as almight is worthy of being a true hero.

Barack O. Llama

i feel like "he's just a bad father" is a bit of an understatement lmao. evil would be more fitting than bad

Katerflori

This Anime is peak af, I'm so glad you think so too!

Sinbad_Deity

Todoroki could've been a villain... 🤔 Would've been very interesting to see the child of a hero become a villain...

Juan Contreras

Stain problem with booster kid is that he’s supposed to be a hero but only came for revenge and for the pro heros is that they get pay for what they do and the way they act isn’t proper hero behavior like todoroki dad said contact the city. for me it implies they need to ask permission of some kind since there are so many heros they all probably have their own territory to protect and get pay for and if others show up the pay probably gets divided. So ask your self will this heros save people without pay

Vinnick

Damn good episode. And it's really where it becomes clear that Full Cowling is Deku's first major upgrade since getting his quirk, and a real game-changer for how he can progress.

LookingForOwls

When Endeavor said he was looking for the hero killer, he was just explaining why he was in the city. He immediately switched to the nomus when they appeared as we saw.

xrmy

I can't believe I have to wait for the next episode

Paul Turner

He has all of the traits of the serial abuser that he is. Abusers only get away with it by existing within all of the social norms around people they do not have in their web of abuse. Which is how they get away with it and end up being defended by those people. "They were always so nice to me". It just shows how absolutely irredeemable this scumbag truly is

Kenneth Hoerz

Now we are getting to the good stuff. Things are going to get much more action and story pact from here on out. I am so looking forward to watching how Luke takes in and handles all of what is coming his way. He is also going to need to pay close attention to every thing that is happening cause they do such a great job of packing each episode full of overall story information. Good luck withe blue-balls going forward Luke!!!

Kenra

I don’t think he would be that strong as a villain if he only uses his ice side. It’s both fire and ice that make him such a busted character.

Snow

Should of been a double upload LOOL

Snoopy Loopy24

Season 5 was the worst but the anime screwed the order of some things for some reason

Rainet

We finally see Endeavor at work... And while he's still a dick, he's clearly a lot more heroic in his non-home-life.

Shadow_284

God I love this episode. First time we really see Deku in action with full cowling, Todoroki using both sides, everybody coming together to save Iida.

ShadowMole

I forgot that this arc was season 2, thought it was the beginning of season 3. This is where my interest in MHA really starts because Deku begins really learning how to use One For All and the stakes begin increasing. Unfortunately, this is still one of my least favorite seasons, not because its bad or anything and I still love it a lot. It's just that it only gets better from here and I think all of the later seasons are above this one. Also, please consider watching Fairy Tail after this. I think you would love it.

TheKnightwatchOfficial

IMO, there is not bad season of MHA. Slower seasons, sure; character building seasons, sure; but bad seasons, no. No bad movies, either. And you had better watch the movies. They are somewhat canon according to the author.

cread13

Stain is one of the best villains hell even one of the best overall character in the show. Yes hes a bad guy but hes one with a sense of justice/morals.

Emmy Hetrick

I second the Fairy Tail request!!

Robert Pierce

Would've been very interesting to see it the grandchild of a hero become a villain, at that...

davguev

Dude, Shoto has quickly become my favorite character. Sorry, Tsuyu-chan, you're a close second now.

Capivara

We need double reactions!

Kevin Croft

I know. The 1 episode reactions when nothing in this show ever concludes in 1 episode is so painful lol

Kanna kamui

day 21 of asking for double reactions 🥲

Jordan Grinde

Luke is getting the Demon Slayer CLIFFHANGER treatment so bad lol

Colum Kelly

OK this anime should be 2-5 episodes per stream. Re-Zero sucks compared to HXH, Naruto, FMAB, and this: MHA (My hero). I know this will be S tier for you. I can't stand this anymore. This single episodes. vs a meh anime? unbelievable.

Matthew Harms

The cliffhangers are brutal. I have watched a lot of anime and few nailed it to the degree this series did. Prepare yourself Luke. There are some coming that will hit even harder.

Rainet

Luke is going to love Season 3, honestly. Most of the things that people complain about in MHA are things he really enjoys xD

Frentzy

what are you on about dude...? this anime is not on stream, he react 3 episodes per week

Rainet

I mean... Bakugo's still a kid. And one who did not handle being put on a pedestal from a very young age well, nor has he reacted well to discovering he's not the Main Character (lol) he thought he was since reaching UA. I'd argue we haven't really seen enough of his internal motivations / logic yet to really judge whether he has "the right reasons" deep down. Keep in mind, we just saw Iida fail when directly tested if he's doing things for the right reasons, BADLY. That's not to say he doesn't want to be a hero for the right reasons deep down, but he's a kid who isn't handling his emotions well and is NOT acting heroic in the moment. Obviously Iida's situation is more extreme, but he's also a much less internally troubled teen than Bakugo. TLDR; bit early to write off Bakugo for not caring about helping people.

Sable Sapphire

Hi G.O.T... I subscribed about 4 years ago now, which is crazy to imagine lol. Thank you for all the content you've done. My favorites have been SAO, Solo Leveling and now My Hero Academia. I appreciate the low patreon sub cost so much that I doubt I'll ever unsub (like this comment to agree with that). Anywho, I love that you pause and talk about your thoughts and theories, also you kinda just pop off in general when it comes to reactions. I'm a 30 year old anime lover and you are my GUY. Thanks again. :)

Dylan

Anyone know what happened to his Sentanced to be a hero reactions? I haven’t watched all of them yet but I see there’s only up to ep 7.

Maks Lesniewski

I'm actually going off of what he said in season 3 (can't say what yet for spoiler reasons). I don't know if his reasons changed between then and the last season, because I kind of dropped MHA somewhere around season 6, but just based on that, and the fact that he basically admitted in episode 1 that he wants to be one for the money and the fame, his motivations don't seem great. This might be because I'm naively trying to see the best in him, but Endeavor does seem like he at least cares a little about making society safer, even if his attitude doesn't show it.

Maks Lesniewski

Fr, Luke should've just stuck to dub. As much shit as dubbed anime often gets, it's infinitely harder to miss or forget something when you hear it.

Maks Lesniewski

Booster kid? You mean Iida? I get forgiving Luke for not remembering all names (even though I still think we shouldn't normalize it), but he does at least remember Iida's name.

SuSa Ackles

HATE CLIFFHANGERS hahahaha Btw i started the mha rewatch WITH u And u uploaded so SLOW i kept going Now i‘m already at season 5 HAHAHA CRAZZZZZY SEASON lemme tell ya!

Rainet

Maks; I also dropped it around Season 6 lol. I think I know exactly what you're referring to, but I think I interpreted it a bit differently. Been a WHILE since I watched MHA, though, so who knows, I might feel differently this time around. Regardless, look forward to possibly discussing interpretations when Luke gets there in a few weeks xD Bakugoat; Mayyyybe leave the conversation about details from season 5 (and quoting it) until Luke gets to s5? It's not that urgent. Doubt Luke is going to read this deep into comment threads, but there's no good reason to spoil.

Archelin

wow, the Luke memory dysfunktion quirk was really strong in his after episode rant XDD nontheless i really like the reactions and love that you explain your thoughts on the episode after watching. Sometimes it is infuriating, sometimes hilarous and sometimes i ask myself if you do it intentionally to forget/let out the hard fakts we learnet the previous episode, or even the same XDD

Soiren

Luke, I have a brilliant idea!!! After you finish MHA (which will be awhile from now), you should rewatch it in dub! lol.

Spooky Moth

I just love how you take your time to understand each characters motives. And the way you slowly start to like Todoroki. He's my fave in this character in MHA because his character is so complex. You will love how this anime moves forward.

darkchaos125

Longer shows def require at least 2 eps reaction for similar obvious reasons.

darkchaos125

2:00 The reason why people are shocked you didn't draw parallels to Yoda is because the show has quite a few places that are named after Star Wars locations such as Tatooin and Dagoba Beach where Deku cleaned up the beach, and there's also a scene where All Might is riding on Deku's shoulders in that training montage for cleaning the beach, a reference to Yoda riding on Luke Skywalker's shoulders. 5:50 Yet another example of Luke needs to just keep watching to get his answers instead of pausing to ask when the answer was coming up anyways. I'm noticing a pattern where pausing kinda puts a viewer in a different mindset. All the tension and adrenaline to the flow of the story is lost, and this is probably often will why the viewer would tend to "forget" things when they return to watching because they're more focused or hanging on certain questions or information when they should be looking at the entire episode and show as a whole for better context and nuance. This is why people get frustrated. You need to learn to listen/watch to learn, but not to watch and immediately "react" right away. Perhaps the problem is in the name "reacting" in the first place. This needs to be a "watch along" or something, so that the Youtuber/content creator doesn't feel pressured to "show a reaction" because it takes away a quality watching experience the fans wishes the reactor to have. 9:00 You're not crazy, there are actual moans/screams in the background of the OST and that is a real part of the track. You may not have noticed this but they're using OSTs but have drowned out certain parts so you only get almost half to 75% of the actual track with missing vocals and/or instrumentals since the start of the show. As you progress through the show, you will hear the more "full" version of the OSTs to complement the severity of the scenes, happy, sad, dread, or action packed. You are hearing various chaotic "noise" that represents chaos and people's screams in horror and despair so you feel the "weight" of the scene that uses this track, as it "builds tension" to the next scene. Such as a plot twist or hero swooping in. 9:40 Your questions have been answered by your previous questions as to "how exactly is Stain different from Shigaraki" , as answered by many commentors from your previous videos. The reason why Stain is giving advice to Iida is because he wants to "breed" pure heroes, he wants society to have more exemplary heroes. He takes it upon himself to cull the "fake/unworthy heroes" and is willing to be the "catalyst" by becoming the "evil force" and the "wall" for heroes to climb over. Shigaraki wants to kill heroes to create a world without heroes, a world where people can do whatever they want because society's rules seem hypocritical to them. I won't say more or it'll spoil.

dartcp

From Stain's perspective, Iida isn't worth sparing because he uses his power for personal reasons—revenge—making him a "fake hero." Deku, on the other hand, stood there looking back and forth between Iida and the other hero—clearly wanting to save them—and only attacked in order to rescue them, which proves Deku is worthy of being a hero.

dartcp

That is such an awesome detail from the animators. You spend the whole time thinking the ad break with all the character details is just nice and all, but then—with the whole thing about Stain and blood types being important—you realize the blood types were right there in the ad break. ^^

Subaru130

The funny thing is, the dub actually did make Endeavor a bit more dickish in that scene with Gran Torino. While he does thank Gran Torino, he calls him "old timer" instead of "honored elder."

Juan Contreras

Yes. booster kid, I forgot his name I’m horrible at remembering names even at work I’ve been working with the same people for 9 years now and I only know the names of 2 I work with 20-30 people and my supervisors names are included on the ones that I don’t remember

Bella

not to spoil but.... one's real close by

Christian Diaz

Lukes timing needs to be studied 😭😭

Kaylee Smeaton

Careful, maybe dont reference villainous grandchildren xD

Kiryuu Yona

people complain about season 3?? how
