TOMfoolery

did the mha time slot permanently shift by one hour or is this a temporary thing?

Awsmspaceball

I think it's a patreon issue thing. Luke has had trouble uploading his streams multiple times recently, so it's probably not permanent, but will likely happen again

Meteoria

Schedule's said 18:30 BST since it swapped from GMT to BST I think?

Hi

3:44 He didn't kidnap her. He arranged the marriage with her parents...

AchmodinIVSWE

16:38 I was thinking the same thing. He is voiced by Seki Tomokazu, who also voices Gilgamesh (Fate:) and many other characters you are familiar with.

nick v

in all fairness, if she was completely against the idea, than there isn't much of a difference. It should have been her decision, not that of the parents.

Roli D. Great

Luke? Seriously? You say what Best Jeanest can do? Did you already forget how Best Jeanest took hold of Kacchan when they met?... sometimes Luke has a spasm up his head that reacts to anime xD Edit: If I insulted anyone with my comment, I genuinely apologize.

Catrabus

The captains voice probably sounds familiar to you because he has the same voice actor as father Pucci from Jojo Part 6

Shadow_284

Welp, I've never been attracted to a seal before, and then I met Selkie.

Rainet

There is no reason to assume she was initially against the idea. It was considered normal in that era of MHA. Obviously, there are potential issues with it, but the same can be said of other cultural norms. It isn't reasonable to assume her opinion about it from the perspective of a culture that doesn't consider that normal.

LookingForOwls

This episode wasn't in the manga - just discussed by sue later. Really like that we got to see it as she's a great character.

Maks Lesniewski

We've already seen what Best Jeanist can do - he can manipulate fabrics.

Elemento

There is book series "Super Powereds" by Drew Hayes that takes - from my point of view - a really realistic take on a super-power society. Early on in the first book they for example even discuss how insurance works in a super-power society in a realistic fashion. I can highly recommend this series.

Nate Ming

Although it was really cool watching Gunhead do a very classical jujutsu/aikido-style ikkyo

Maks Lesniewski

Fun fact: Innsmouth's name is a reference to a novella by H.P. Lovecraft (the creator of the Cthulhu Mythos) called "The Shadow over Innsmouth".

Jonathan Kinney

This has probably been said, but "Gero" that froppy says all the time is the onomatopoeia for a frog croaking in Japan. I will congratulate you for your good taste, as Tsuu has become my favorite character in the show as time has gone on. Every moment she's on screen is precious.

Maks Lesniewski

Also, do you remember the guy Sasuke fought in the Chuunin Exam preliminaries? Innsmouth has the same voice actor.

Kanna kamui

day 24 of asking for double reactions 🥲

Moshi

You literally said, upon seeing Jeanist fully restrain Bakugo in an instant by manipulating fibers, that his hero name and clothing makes sense. Come on, man

jwitn

chill, dude

TheElementalerWars

The reason you recognized his voice is because he voices Daru from Steins;Gate and Pucci from Jojo!!!

Sian Richardson

It's a bit of a random episode cause it's filler.

Rem is best waifu

Selkie the Captain also is the VA for Enrico Pucci from Part 6 of JoJo

GhostZethAaa

It's funny how he thinks bakugo messed up his choice. You'll see Luke.

Shock

All these years later and crunchyroll still hasn't fixed the typo at 20:12 "Resuce" ????? RESCUE!

Canelas

I found the voice actor for the seal familiar as well so I looked for it and its: Gilgamesh, Panda, Wind ashira, and Pucci

AinChase

Seriously getting mad over an anime reaction?

Vinnick

Any episode focussing on Froppy is a great episode. All hail Best Girl!

Kyle Garrett

You saw it before, but Best Jeanist's power lets him manipulate fabric. Denim is naturally more durable than a lot of other fabrics, which is why he wears so much of it.

Nikkelz

Schedule is done by the mods & is an estimate based off his general upload schedule obvious internet issues & platforms will shift that around a bit so always assume a bit of wiggle on the exact time.

Dronkel

7:00 Luke really just said "If you see someone with a knife, just start stripping." to a teenage girl. And he will try to defend himself by saying "take just one item", but man, look at what Uraraka is wearing...

Roli D. Great

If that is 'mad' for you...than oh boy you need to check all other 'mad' comments that Luke gets :)

KeanuofRivia

I was laughing at Bakugo wearing jeans, like why him??? Does best jeanist plan to strip him for his jeans if he runs out 😂

Vivica the witch

I love the ocean too, but I'm not good on boats sadly I get sea sick. So its swimming and sitting on the beach for me lol.

Rhast

I mean, Endeavor didnt kidnap his wife, he bought her. I dunno if that's really any better...

Kenra

Good knife advice 👍

idkwhy

ケロケロ (kero kero) for small or cute frogs, and ゲロゲロ (gero gero) for larger, deeper-sounding frogs

Junie Gordon

it kinda was but at the same time it wasnt because she decided to go along with it to help her family financially im pretty sure

Phoenix_mercury

Tbh it's worse, she was willingly handed over by the person that should have protected her

Kino M.P

Me a totally normal human seeing a villain like this: Sooo... Sashimi for dinner today huh...

Dartinin Vader

I do believe this was made for the anime(at least the froppy part) because people liked Froppy this is from what I believe is not in the manga. Oh and you have seen the real best girl just don't know it yet haha.

davguev

Indeed, Tsuyu-chan best grill.

Amberyootoob

Seriously did you forget when Luke asked everyone to not be insulting in the comment section.

Roli D. Great

If that is 'insulting' for you...I do not know how to comment. I never said any low word or swearing :/

Lord Shenrong

hi there! I don't know if someone already told you but Froppy/SU's VA is Aoi Yuki, your welcome.

darkchaos125

Part of the culture of accepting family marriage/matchmaking is also family piety. Something modern westerners tend to reject because of their sense of progressive moral superiority. "It should have been her decision, not that of the parents." And where has it been suggested she had no choice? She can always say no. People today are so progressive that they boldly reject the old backward ways of their parents and ancestors. It makes no difference what the audience thinks. After all, if we can reject slavery and arranged marriage today, we can do so decades/centuries ago (according to what passionate people say today) Yes there's high pressure to marry, but there's no high pressure to marry Todoroki specifically. The typical situation is this: The potential male candidate's family is either richer or has a higher value in the "brand" behind their family name (or both), which adds to the pressure of the potential female candidate. The female daughter usually "has no say" because it was "arranged", so she just goes with it because "its what her parents/family wants" and/or "it's for the better for herself and/or her family". Modern people look at this like its primitive and extremely restrictive, but it isn't if you're looking at things objectively and at the larger picture. One can't praise Japan for having stronger family units and a close-knit society while discounting the systems in place that objectively leads to longer lasting relationships. High Infidelity from both sexes in marriage during modernized Japan (or rather the westernized/modernized world) aside, Japanese couples tend to treat marriage as a "business relationship". They are very clear about tasks that are assigned to their husband/wife, parental duties, and gender roles in the family unit. Chinese families are very similar in that regard, speaking from experience. The whole world traditionally and still does, operate on pragmatic approaches toward nurturing children by investing heavily in their education, which was usually a high factor for their success. Anyone who disagrees with this, would be a hypocrite since modern social activists complain about "white privilege" for giving their children access to education as a way to "climb up" the socioeconomic ladder. Aside from education, there's also the expanding of their skill and talents beyond reading and writing through sports or music (fine arts), which are all talents and professions reserved for the highest classes in society to enjoy and dominate, as opposed to progressives operating purely on emotions and idealism of moving away from merits and judging people based on their skills, but on non-tangible traits that has high value to white knightism and to feed people's Main Character syndrome, while doing little to nothing to make any meaningful impact or improvement to standard of living. Progressives have "revolutionized" the principle of "noblesse obligé" through forced participation as a "collective society" under the banners of social justice and "equality" and "equity". Japan has done an interesting job mixing both worlds which has led to high levels of bureaucracy to streamline healthy funding for social services, healthcare, pension/retirement plans, and infrastructure through fees/taxes on pension and their 50% income tax to name a couple. The honoring or maintaining the status quo of the family honor, as well as the survival of the family, has always been seen as an inevitable burden women must bear, but that is because modern progressive society is indoctrinated to only look at women as the sole victim of these schemes. What people don't realize is the fact women not only may have little to no control over the decision of who they choose for a partner, the level of responsibility and pressure is proportionally equally high, if not higher for the male candidate because he is taking over the wishes, hopes, and dreams of both families, not just to take care of the female candidate/soon-to-be wife, but also the Leader of a fusion of two clans/families, and like Endeavor, someone who is the role model for the entire community as one of their most influential leaders and pillars of society. Male candidates in matchmaking that is arranged by parents or the patriarch/matriarchs of families, also did not have much say, much like the female candidates, especially when two clans are beelining for each other in an almost "business arrangement". Keep in mind this matchmaking practice was traditionally done in upper class families and middle-upper class families, not working class or lower families. Similar practices were done in Europe. The only way to increase "standard of living" for a group (immediate or main family branch) was to essentially "marry up" with another family with a higher socio-economic (and sometimes political) rank. You see it in anime and even western novels/fantasies where knights are granted land and/or nobility titles. There's no such thing as "employment" or "employees" even in the early 16 to 18th century. The Blacksmith, the shoe smith, the metal smith, carpenter, etc, were all called "masters" while they took on apprentices. In order for any young boy to make it anywhere in life, he must become an apprentice to a Knight of some minimum level of notable rank. The apprentice is then called an Esquire, who is essentially an "Intern". When they graduate to become a "Squire", they become a full-fledged apprentice in-rank, and are typically given the Falchion sword where the bottom edge is sharp, and the top edge is blunt, which is the perfect starting weapon for young boys who are aiming to be knights. Like Japan, Knights/Samurai fall under two types/professional paths: The military path, and the political path. The military path is the Scouts in attack on titan. They have a higher focus and skill in combat, often live combat, have a high mortality rate, and are expendable. The Political path belong to those who are in the Military Police in Attack on Titan, who rarely use their combat skills, and their Knight/military ranking is more decorative, but a symbol of their status (and therefore a guarantor for their benefits in society, as an individual or potentially for their family). In Japan's case, you'd be looking at the Samurai Shogunate (political military branch) vs the Samurai "knights" who are the guards/soldiers under the Emperor or local Daimyo/Lord of a Domain, akin to Dukes or those of lower rank in Europe. Fun trivia, only those who are blood related to the King can be called Archdukes/Arch-duchess, who would typically be the uncles/aunts of the children of the King. Part of the reason why young women have traditionally been "denied" the right to make their own choices, stems in partial to the fact women originally were not educated or allowed to even choose different professions out of concern for their own safety and security due to being the more vulnerable sex. That and the Patriarchy. The other is the fact being housewives or mothers was considered a much more respected job. Mothers back in the day were not only sassy and wise, but they can be very tough and resilient to challenges and difficulties, which goes far beyond daily minor stress today's modern Gen Z and Alpha youths and young adults can barely handle because their precious "fee fees" are hurt and their egos are not only easily bruised, but are more fragile than tofu or jello. And like tofu, simply being jostled around from stress at work makes them collapse on their own. Fun trivia; women in Europe would wear long dresses but basically they would pee and poop on the floor in the castle while servants would clean up after them. Outhouses may be seen as a 'country bumpkin' thing but today, we see it as a modern convenience like porto potties. Outhouses may be primitive but porto potties are just plastic versions of the exact same thing. Just like AR-15 rifles are just "scary black" and more metal versions of the exact same wooden rifle from the 18th century with 90-99% of the exact same metal parts.

darkchaos125

1:48 "is there an arkham asylum for these guys?" Very good question! There are villains of various levels of strength and danger levels so it is safe to assume there are various levels of security needed to monitor said villains. You will see more about the villains later of course. Fascinating and frustrating scenarios and moral dilemmas. All part of the hero and villain schtick. 5:39 I love how Luke knows more about Bakugo's personailty and the way he thinks esp after hearing Bakugo's internal voice and now has become completely okay with Bakugo verbally abusing and screaming at everyone he meets, including children and women, but Endeavor being a model hero in society who treats authority and elders with respect, and a terrible father makes him 100% a bad person. No layers to Endeavor whatsoever. NOPE! 6:10 In the childrens' defense, Bakugo has shown more sad and angry stuff than 'heroic', so there's nothing positive or good to really speak about him, publicly at least. They're not shit-talking him, they're just giving unfiltered opinions and speaking the truth. Kacchan got caught and looked like he was about to cry. And was a 3rd year in junior high school so that'd make him about 13 years old. Still a child in our eyes in our 30s. 10:25 She prob did the laundry for everyone, not just the Captain. Also because when you're stuck at sea, "someone" has to do all the cleaning so this may usually be done in rotation between crew members. You could be stuck at sea for weeks or months depending on what you're doing. Keep in mind, she's not told to do laundry or Captain's undies cuz she's a woman. This is a 'duty' everyone has to do as a 'group'. Family does it. Groups do it too. Bros and sisters would do things for each other too to make things work and to survive. Once a person looks past that, they become a more adult and mature person who realizes washing undies is pretty much at the bottom of the barrel in things to worry about in life when you are used to fulfilling duties and responsibilities in the grand scheme of things. 12:10 it showed his "crotch" so you can see the budging muscles around his thighs/hips. 13:30 Yeah its cool to see military vehicles go on the market, even tanks and battleships. They are put on the market after they are scuttled and deemed too outdated or useless, or extra inventory to be rid of. For tanks, they typically would disarm or remove the "firing" feature of the tank. Same for battleships. All to turn them into "civilian safe" versions of vehicles for transportation use only that are stripped of their original combat capability. Affording these aren't impossible, just a long reach. If you make 100k a year, you can easily save 25,000 a year if you live frugally. I've done investment into a developer building apartments and office buildings. In 3-4 years, you get 9-12% interest, which is about 9-12k (you're still taxed on those since they count as Capital Gains) but you can basically reinvest the amount you gain back and keep investing. This is how people become middle-upper class by the way. By choosing not to live paycheck to paycheck and cutting down on things like ordering takeout/eating out at restaurants, no video games. Just simple living and working your ass off 60-80 hours a week. 15:00 You could say Froppy's character personality is based on Japan's view on frogs. They're sometimes portrayed as being very calm and pensive, slow to anger and heat while being boiled in water. Sometimes they appear to be in a group like a very happy family. I can't say much but her place in her family is a reason why she seems more mature than others. 16:40 To answer your question, Selkie's voice actor is the same voice for Gilgamesh in Fate/Stay Night. He also voices a teacher in Wistoria: Wand and Sword. Its kinda rare to see him in a calm voice in anime these days, he usually uses his Gilgamesh voice. The subtitles are a little off when he says "Yaro domo!" which is translated as "Sailors!" but he's actually using the same crude language gruff captains or Pirate Captains use when calling their ship crew, usually addressing them as "you seadogs" or scallywags, landlubber, searats, etc". 25:55 You might recall the crew members with Selkie reported the Captain was on their way. When they were pushed into a trap, the two blue/red stowaways jumped off the ship and you were asking about that earlier. Selkie basically went on ahead after escaping the trap/ship, and used his Sonar and swimming skills to track down the stoaway octopus villain. Its possible Selkie may have received the message from Froppy about the villain's location but he could have predicted where the blue/red stowaways were headed and used his sonar to detect the other ship at Double Rocks. 25:50 considering the force of how hard Selkie kicked the villain into the ocean, its prob safe to say given how muscly he is, he's almost as strong as Endeavor when physically fighting enemies in the air or water.

darkchaos125

I'm 90% that is Gilgamesh <.< ......earliest role I've seen him play was a guy with Sumomo the mobile persocom in Chobits, followed by Kyo in Fruits Basket, followed by Yzak/Isaac Jule in Gundam SEED.

Finelia Braun

Endeavor DID NOT kidnapp his wife and he also did NOT force her to marry him. He also did NOT grape her. You can say he is a horrible husband and father and say how shitty he was to them, because that's true... but stay on the side of facts. He is at least not that horrible. Rei wanted this marriage as well. She wanted the kids as well. She isn't to blame how it all ended up, but she was not forced to do any of it.

Finelia Braun

but she had a choice, that is stated i the show, and she wanted the marriage as well. Stop making him look worse than he actually is.

Finelia Braun

Uraraka is going to be a hero, she learns to fight, Luke didn't say that to her, he said it to real people. And the thing is, if you start stripping in an physical attack, you also have a chance it confuses the person so much and distracts them so much that they drop their guard so you can run away and call for help.

Zen Reacts

Guys stop defending Luke forgetting half the information he's directly shown. It really makes it feel like he just doesn't pay attention or has no interest

Belle

A reminder of Best Jeanist's quirk and abilities is enough without the "what is wrong with you and your brain doesn't work properly" undertone/subtext. It would have been enough to say something like, "Remember when Jeanist took hold of Kachan at the beginning of his placement? That's a small glimpse of what he can do." The "sometimes he has a spasm in his head" was just sooo unnecessary. You don't need to use vulgar language to insult someone. Being rude and putting someone down is insulting too. (Also- Luke, the person you insulted, is who you should direct your apology to. The other viewers in the comment section were not the targets of your original comment.)

Roli D. Great

I said the apology to EVERYONE (included Luke) but if you profs are phrasing it so that I will only apologize to Luke so then: I apologize to Luke for any insults of any sort that I have told him. I deeply apologize to you, Luke. I am very sorry. I never intended to insult in anyway any of you. In fact, I put a smiley after that sentence so as to make it like I am joking. But, yes, now I am seeing it, I made a very hard joke on that. So I deeply apologize to you, Luke. Can we move on now? Or do you lot want to punish me more?!

Kaylee Smeaton

Yes she could always say no, but that doesn't mean that her parents would support her no. They would have just arranged for someone else. It was never up to her choice imo.

kaanami

I love how tsuyu is to you in BNHA like beatrice is to you in Rezero XD

Boalex123

I gotta say this, don't knock slice of life until you try it.

Charlotte

I really don't think your comment was that bad tbh

Roli D. Great

Now now, do not open any wounds. Leave it at that as I already apologized to my 1st comment. Case closed guys :)
