does it cover his pedo-era? edit- luke do your own research and come to your own conclusions. since you're someone who gets passionate/heated when they see kids being mistreated, I'd be interested to hear what you think. some people will never come to terms with the fact their favorite artists or heroes are capable of heinous acts. Everyone saying there's no proof have the same argument i hear from maga ppl saying that trump never did anything with epstein bc everything was settled out of court /he wasn't convicted in the court$ of the U$ judicial system.

Applehead

No, I think you're confusing it with your own life

Taraster33

Am I the only one who heard Luke say he was watching Michael and thought he was referring to the 1996 John Travolta movie?

smth positive_

50:40 he even went to Phantasialand a theme park close to where I live and rode the roller coaster Colorado adventure which for a period of time got the tittle of „The Michael Jackson Thrill Ride“

sheralee webb

Joined patreon just to see your reaction this one!!! I blame you for making this the 10th time I’ve watched it 🤣 Jermaine stayed with Motown because he married the daughter. The demerol was the start of Michael Jackson’s addiction to painkillers, which led to a whole host of other issues 😢 and he never wanted to do it!

Kallista

Wanna be startin something and I am here for it, think you should do a reaction for this is it after this

Ahchi

It is incredibly interesting hearing bits and pieces about your life. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I was interested in the few moments when YouTubers would talk candidly about their life experiences in relation to the media they were playing or talking about. Going from the Hamilton reaction to this, it's rewarding getting to know someone's authentic self through the content they share! ALSO, tears within the first 10 mins of this reaction ohmygodddd.

na

as a survivor, fuck you scumbag and fuck Michael Jackson for abusing children.

Marlon Miller

Janet Jackson, for reasons publicly unknown, didn’t want to be associated and didn’t release her likeness for the film. Very unfortunate since she was such a huge part of his life as the only two with big solo careers. It’s weird, it’s like she doesn’t even exist 😅 She also was a child star managed by her dad as well.

Emily Jewett

Please watch the making of this movie documentary because the passion every person brought to production, the journey Jaffar took to get the role, the make up artists behind the Thriller dance, the authentic props and the house they used from the Jackson estate just every single story in the behind the scenes will make you smile.

Curwin Sphere

He really never got to be a kid. He actually has a beautiful song and video about called "Childhood". It sums it all up beautifully. You should react to it. It's definitely tug on your heartstrings.

Nonie

I am a survivor of child SA too, as a child of 6-7 years old. That is not a justification for projections of our trauma on another. This whole situation has been manipulated. I will never believe these lies.

Moni

This creature lived almost twice as long as his son...life can be so unfair💔

Applehead

He wrote and produced billie Jean, beat it, wanna be starting something and the girl is mine ( a duet with paul mccartney) for the album Thriller

Michael

The Jackson 5 house is a HR away from and they had 10 kids all together this movie was epic Yes the Pepsi commercial actually happened Yes it will be a part 2

Jorja

After the Pepsi incident, the movie tries to show it but from that michael became addicted to pain medicine which in the end was a factor in his death.

Safi

Britney Renèe

Yes we’re getting a part 2!! So happy you finally watched this! So excited for you to deep dive now. Watching the music videos and live performances is surface level so yes THERES SO MUCH MORE 🤗

Applehead

If you’re really a survivor, I’m genuinely sorry for what you went through. But being a survivor doesn’t automatically mean that every accusation in this case is true. If you had actually taken the time to study the case, the evidence, and the court documents instead of relying only on media narratives and accusations without looking deeper, you would understand why Michael Jackson was and still is innocent. Calling someone a pedophile without knowing the full details of the case is not an informed opinion.

Anika

If you want more, there was a mini series in the 90s call The Jacksons: An American Dream. It gives more detail. You could react to that too, in maybe 2 parts. I think it's 4 hours long. But it explains details, like where the other Jackson brother went. More on how their school mates treated them. Also how the parents met. They really zoomed through everything in this movie.

Emma Floyd

They wanted to include the entirety of his life in this movie, but the estate made it difficult to put certain things in it so they had to pivot and release this one first. They’re figuring out how to go about the second one but seem to intend to do it! The main issues they had seems to be the scandals he went through in the 90s. Also, they kept visibly pointing out his affinity with Peter Pan and Neverland when he was a kid. That’s because he later in life created a place that he called Neverland!

Emily Jewett

Future recommendation, I really like the Queen movie, bohemian rhapsody. Same production team I think.

A W

If it’s still playing near you go see it in the theater. Watching at home is good, but it doesn’t compare to the theater experience.

A W

It didn’t exist.

Applehead

The pepsi accident unfortunately really happened

clexkate

I think the way they portrayed Joe Jackson in this movie is really clever. You see him beating on Michael in the beginning quite often but then never again for the rest of the film. But in your head you're always just on edge waiting for him to lash out or hit someone - much like Michael and the other boys probably felt when Joe was around. It really shows the lasting impact and trauma of physical abuse and how even when Joe is trying to be pleasant, you're still so wary of him. I loved your reaction and I hope you continue to delve into Michael's life and work. I'm also a new fan and it's been such an eye-opening journey seeing how he came to be and what his life was like.

Andrea Hardwick

Yesss I would love to see him do a deep dive and react to his solo albums!

Morgan Wiggins

That tension on the Ed Sullivan show was just because Micheal forgot his lines when he was doing his little spill before “who’s loving you” about giving her his cookies 🍪

Jaywoot

To get a better understanding of the Jackson 5 story and Michael’s childhood you should watch the “Jackson an American dream” it goes into great detail of their lives and to how he became The MICHAEL JACKSON

Kallista

Why are you here watching this reaction then?

Applehead

2:25:05 its his son Prince Jackson

Motown. Founded in Detroit 1959. Moved to LA 1967.

Michael Jackson fired John Branca, in 2003 following a private investigation that accused Branca of funneling funds to SONY. Jackson later resigned his services entirely in 2006. However, Branca was abruptly rehired (not sure by whom), just eight days before MJ's murder. And SONY (Tommy Mottola) then gets everything they wanted. Branca strangely becomes in charge of the estate. The family takes him to court over MJ's will, but the court brushes off it off as a clerical error. Paris Jackson has taken Branca to court, supported by Janet Jackson. *Tommy Mottola, whom MJ spoke out against openly, has been mentioned around 700 times in the Epstein Files.

Applehead

You also need to react to his bad tour wembley

Sakura Minamino

Those who knew or met Joseph was intimidated by that man. They feared him. The abuse was a lot worse than what was shown. Michael would get physically sick from being around his dad. Also, he did not allow his kids to call him dad. He acted like a manager. Then he went and had a second family while still married and allowed those kids to call him dad and doted on them. He did not see the Jackson kids as his kids. He considered himself their manager and that's it.

DevDSilver

DO you have hard evidence that he did anything? I can say no you don't because nobody ever had or found any because there was none to begin with. Please stop this misinformation spreading lies without proof. If you are a victim that sucks but if you have no proof then do not say anything. Also you can move forward from that moment in your life instead of holding on to it. Hate the people who have been proven to done it but do not hate someone who has not been proven guilty. Plus fun fact here for you. If and i mean if he had actually done what they say he did and had hard evidence of it that could not deny. Then he would have been locked up and it would have been everywhere with no room for denial. His career would have been destroyed completely and yet just like rumors it died down blowing away like a fart in a windstorm.

ohstanley

What you said just around 19:39 was true. Michael always said he was most at home on stage and was never nervous. He was shy and nervous off stage but totally confident Infront of an audience

Leslie Houam

Thank you so much for this video. I absolutely love your Michael Jackson reactions on YouTube, and I subscribed to your Patreon just so I could watch your reaction to the biopic. I have so many things I want to say in this comment. First of all, I apologize if it's a bit long or if my English isn't perfect (I'm French) ! First, I absolutely loved watching this video. I had such a great evening thanks to you. Regarding Michael's relationship with his father, the film actually toned down the abuse he suffered. In his book, Jermaine (one of Michael's brothers) describes some truly horrific and degrading moments. On top of the physical abuse, Joseph constantly criticized Michael's appearance. That traumatic childhood shaped him into a deeply misunderstood adult, which unfortunately contributed to the way the media later portrayed and targeted him. I think it's great that you want to learn more about Michael's life, but unfortunately, there are very few documentaries that aren't driven by sensationalism. If you'd like to understand him better, I'd really recommend listening to Childhood. It has an official music video. Now that you've seen the film and have a glimpse of what his childhood was like, I think you'll truly understand the song. Michael always said it was the most autobiographical song he ever wrote, and it's incredibly moving. If you want to see the real Michael, I also highly recommend watching This Is It. It's the rehearsal footage for what would have been his final concerts if he hadn't passed away beforehand. They're only rehearsals (not the finished show) but they give you a wonderful opportunity to see the real Michael working with his team. It's fascinating. You also picked up on something very important when the film mentioned the medication at the hospital. After the Pepsi accident, Michael lived with chronic pain for the rest of his life. He eventually became dependent on painkillers, which sadly led to his downward spiral and ultimately his death. Here's something I find absolutely incredible: when the Pepsi accident happened, Michael was exactly 25 years, 4 months, and 29 days old. After that day, he lived for exactly another 25 years, 4 months, and 29 days. In other words, the event that had such a huge impact on the rest of his life happened at the exact midpoint of his life. I've always found that incredibly striking. I'll stop here because this comment is already far too long! Thank you again for this reaction and for all your other Michael Jackson videos. You always have thoughtful insights, and your reactions genuinely feel sincere and authentic. I've been a Michael Jackson fan for 30 years. He touched my soul, and it makes me so happy to see that he continues to touch the hearts of so many people. Michael deserves never to be forgotten, so thank you for helping keep his legacy alive. By the way, I'd absolutely love to see you react to one of his full concerts someday, like the Bad Tour at Wembley or the Dangerous Tour in Bucharest!

Janet was in the household. He had 3 sisters (Rebbie, LaToya and Janet) and 5 brothers. Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon were in the Jackson 5 with Michael. Randy was the younger brother who replaced Jermaine when they became the Jackson's and moved to Epic records. Rebbie, Janet and Randy aren't in the film

Aturtlern

I was 10 when the Thriller album was released. I had the posters on my wall. He was bigger than life. I cried so hard when he died.

ohstanley

The girl in the wheelchair is one of the children from the heal los Angeles foundation that Prince Jackson runs. He said she was made up that her part made the final cut 🥰

Sakura Minamino

Dude, Motown is a record company. A big one too that helped Integrated black musicians into the mainstream and was black owned which was huge back in the day. It is also used to refer to a type of genre of soul music. Think The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, type artists.

Sakshi Sharma

Thanks Luke, this is the 4th time I watched this movie..specially i have subscribed to watch Michael again

Rondelle Cellini

I enjoyed your reaction very much, but I did feel like you didn't give Jaafar the credit he deserves. This young man, who never acted in his life, was AMAZING!!! And his performance of Human Nature & Bad were beyond good!!

Rondelle Cellini

All stemming from Joseph's forcing him to do the tour.

Mia Speakz

I feel this so much! As a woman that has also been molested and SA'd again as a teen. I know all types of predators, they are all different but Michael Jackson's soul was pure. He definitely had a ruthlessness for business but not children. He was loving, kind and protective of children. I will never believe the lies. He gave me hope when I had none.

Sakura Minamino

So Michel had something called Jerry Curl in his hair. It was a type of hair product that allowed his hair to be the way it was a loser curl and highly flammable. This incident ended up getting him addicted to pain killers. Bill and Michael had a close relationship and from what I hear Michael basically called him his dad. Also, after Jermaine left, I believe he was replaced with Randy, the youngest boy. So 6 out of the 7 boys and 1 out of 2 girls were celebrities at one point.

Morgan Wiggins

& Michael had his own 4D attraction at Disney world called Captain EO from 86-98 I’ve heard they’ve reinstated or plan to at least since his popularity has shot back off the charts yet again. It was the most expensive movie filmed. It was 17 minutes and cost like $30 million due to it being written by George Lucas and also directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was the first 4D attraction anywhere really

Sakura Minamino

She may have felt they were making money off him again with this movie. She seemed to love him to bits and I could see her thinking this movie was to make more money off him.

Becky Airey

Omg yesss I’ve been waiting weeks for this

uzumaki

Micheal said in an interview that he was so scared of Joseph that he would throw up from the fear …

Erica J

When Joe said the 9 to 5 and after midnight line, I automatically started singing Workin Day and Night from the Off the Wall album. Also yes watch The Jacksons: An American Dream. Its so good and you get more about the family during motown and all of the siblings are in it.

NikiBelle

I think you'd really like "This is It" - its the compilation of what was supposed to be the archival footage of rehearsals and prep as well as interviews of the band, crew, and dancers after the fact of what was supposed to be Michael's tour (his death taking place right before everything was to be shipped to the O2 arena for the final 2 weeks of rehearsals). They've set it up as a "concert film" and its really great. For this film though, Jafar auditioned and was trained for the role for 2 years prior to filming - even moving back to the family compound (yes that's literally what they called it) to immerse himself into Michael's life. His childhood bedroom was actually behind Janet's. The exterior shots are on location as well. Jafar even went to visit Bubbles (the monkey) - who is still alive and now lives comfortably at a chimp sanctuary. To be EXTREMELY critical - each performance Jafar recreated is about 98% shot for shot, move for move the original. That is how much care and effort they put into this film. And they have said that their will be a second and it is currently in the works as far as writing. This one had a different ending that had to be reshot after some NDAs Michael had signed came to light. These documents have resulted in the second film and the delays they are now facing.

Jamie

aaaah im sos excited!!! 💜 been waiting for soooo long. jaafar did such an amazing job. every little detail !!! just perfection. they filmed at the real hayvenhurt house where mj grew up - jaafar lived there too as a kid , fun fact. and the motown 25 billie jean performance was the real place too! 💜 jaafar sang live at every performance - and then they mixed his vocals with Michael. expect for "dont stop till you get enough" in the booth, that was all jaafar! 💜 ooooh I could talk about it for days. it is my ultimate comfort movie.

ohstanley

The scene of him in the hospital visiting the other burns patient is based on a real photo.. He genuinely did this.

ohstanley

The movie isn't quite accurate about the victory tour line up as the youngest brother Randy didn't want to be portrayed in the movie. So, the Jackson five was Jackie Tito Jermaine Marlon and Michael. They changed record companies from Motown to epic in 75/76 and Jermaine (Jafaar's dad) stayed with Motown as he was married to the daughter of the founder of Motown, Berry Gordy. So at Epic, Randy joined the group and the name changed to the Jacksons (as Motown owned be name the Jackson 5). They did 5 albums as the Jackson's, the latter of these overlapping with Off The Wall and Thriller for Michael. For the victory tour (and album) Jermaine came back so there were actually all six brothers for the victory tour (except the shows Jackie missed because his wife ran over his foot with the car but that's another story)

Paul Vizcarra

I grew up so lucky that hitting was never an option for punishment. Truly sick that a parent would do such a thing to their own kid. Seeing Michael thrilled to do what he does along the movie is so great to see

Genice Oliveira

Just subscribed to your patreon because I need to watch this reaction, by the way, please keep coming with the Michael Jackson reactions, love to watch it.... I was searching but I think you didn't reacted to the 'Black or white ' video yet, if not, please do 💖 And Jackson 5, you definitely need to check ✔️✅

DevDSilver

You edited this and i will say this. You are still in the wrong because you have so hard proof of any of it. Also it is wrong of you to try and use luke's love for kids to try and push your twisted mentality and opinion. All they ever got out of his accusations was word of mouth which can never be fully trusted. As far a trump goes i could care less what a corrupt president that does not care if 80% of the population goes homeless or not. The past 5 presidents have barely if at all addressed the serious problems in the US from the start of their term to the end. Now we got leaders wasting 100s of billions of dollars to try and police the internet and sell everyone's personal info instead of addressing actual problems like the cost of living getting too high.

ohstanley

It was brilliant watching this movie along with someone who didn't know the events beforehand. It really had a different feel to it seeing how you reacted to everything unfolding. Thank you! And yes he was a wonderful human being and the world didn't treat him well. This was the first half of his life, part two is gonna be tough as there were even higher highs and lower lows for this amazing man in the second half of his life.

Gerard McCartan

THIS IS IT (2009). Bump the likes up for my comment guys. Man your next MJ reaction should be his 'This Is It' movie (2009). Broke records as usual. in the box office too. It's intense and emotional, its the behind the scenes, live footage documentary of his songs and plans and rehearsals with dancers and Kenny Ortega etc for his big comeback in 2009, in a sold-out 50 date residency in London. The 50 gigs sold out instantly. He died 2 weeks before that first show, so the 'This Is It' movie is so precious and takes you inside what would have been the greatest show on Earth. The world didnt deserve it, the majority of people had already dismissed him as a weirdo. Love ya mate!

Jojo

got Patreon specifically for this reaction lol but I plan on sticking around ! you’re energy is pure & amazing 💪🏽💯

Jamilla Williams

1) no one knows why but Janet wanted absolutely nothing to do with the movie 2) Joseph was even worse in reality. They dialed it down for the movie but captured the tension and the ick perfectly 3) Jaafar is Jermaine's son. He actually favors Michael a lot not just in looks but also mannerisms. He worked for 2 years for this role. He danced until his feet were blistering and bleeding, he took acting lessons. Everything. Also, Don't Stop Til You get Enough was 100% his voice. All the performances, he sang but they blended his voice with actual recordings of Micheal's. Jaafar worked his butt off. 4) Before the burn incident, Micheal never took any medication. They made him take the pain meds and he would forever, for the rest of his life, be reliant on them to the point of addiction. It's really sad. 5) lastly, the 2nd movie won't be as happy and empowering as this one. The rest of Micheal's life was sad. The pain meds, the press constantly bullying him, the anxiety and ptsd, the dream of never growing up. It all gets sad in the end unfortunately. But he never stopped creating through the pain and stress.

Gerard McCartan

I agree that Mj had no childhood. However millions didnt have a childhood either, thats how i always felt when thinking of mj etc but its impossible for those of us to grasp the weight of the impact of being an idol at the age of 12, not being able to just go out into the street each day for a walk or to go meet friends. Awful/tough/traumatizing childhood's is the experience of millions, yet millions don't want to stay as kids.. and have sleepovers etc But the fact is, its the worldwide super fame thats what is way worse and I think its the fame part that 'destroyed' his childhood experience. Breaks my heart. the world judged him and spat him out. MJ is the GOAT.

Emily Jewett

The “light box from stranger things” I is a light brite unless you’re looking at something else.

na

im telling luke to look into it on his own and come to his own conclusions. In 1993 je settled for millions of dollars. His sister has said the allegations are true There are multiple allegations from different times. He was later arrested and booked, and all the details are pretty damn disturbing if you can look past your idol worship of a pop star. The strongest defense he had was the kids he had who testified for him who said they were his 'special friends' who slept in the same bed as MJ despite being children, but nothing happened...hmmmm...one of the main reasons he got acquitted was a lot of the jurors placed the blame on the children's mother for allowing him to sleep with her kids in an unsupervised situation. This was time where the rich and powerful were even more untouchable in courts. There is absolutely NO DENYING he slept in bed with children between 10-14 as an adult, whether anything sexual happened.... the courts said no, but this is the US judicial system were talking about here, rarely is justice ever serveed against rich, powerful men. The whole Neverland thing is incredibly disturbing. There's a ton of evidence against him so idk how you can say there is no evidence.

DevDSilver

There is no idol worship i still have not seen any video or audio proof. I never fully trust word of mouth because people can lie under pressure. People will lie to get attention or money which he had a lot of. A time where rich are untouchable? The court system for rich is still corrupt even now just as much as the past. Rich and celebrities go to prison and get a private cell away from everyone else. It is like a penthouse in prison a lot of times regardless of their crimes. I was not there with him or the kids so i cannot say if he did or did not do anything. Until i get video and audio proof i do not believe anything and nothing will change that.

na

people can lie..including Jackson. The court system is undoubtedly still full of injustice... no argument there. audio or video evidence for SA in that time period nearly never exists, just one of many reasons why SA crimes have been incredibly difficult to prosecute. He did sleep in bed with children, that is an uncontested and disturbing fact. the victim he settled with out of court drew specific details of his genitalia with specific skin issues that were corroborated. there's a lot of other really disturbing sht...but if you're unwilling to change your opinion then there's not much more to say. If you have anything that can 100% prove his innocence, point the way.

Cara Ferguson

You have to watch This Is It. It's a documentary about the preparation for his last tour that was supposed to kick off in 2009. He died only a few days before he was supposed to head to the first city.

Leigh-Sherri Hays

Honestly Michael Jackson was more of a VH1 kinda thing by the time MTV came out and was really big.. not sure how much Michael was on there in the beginning. I didn't even get to MYV personally until the 90s and by then even his movie videos seemed to be a little shorter than they were at the start and they were usually pertaining to a movie. And would have clips from the movie in the video

FayesOblivion

Loved your reaction!! Please you also have to watch his movie “MOONWALKER” for me it’s a masterpiece

Gerard McCartan

Ghosts is so underwhelming, its too drawn out and the songs aren't great. Otherwise it would be well loved. Its a poor thriller. The songs, I personally love are 2bad, Ghosts, Am I Scary? etc but they don't compare with anything in Michael Jackson's top 20 best songs. Not even close.

Megan Patty

I still think you should react to the Square One Documentary about the 1993 allegations!

Rita Anderson

While you wait for the sequel, you ought to check the The Jacksons: An American Dream. It’s a two part miniseries that goes much deeper into the family relationships, the forming of the Jackson5, and their rise to fame. I feel like this movie and the sequel will rightfully focus primarily on Michael in his adult years, while the miniseries spend more time on his younger years.

Aiofe

Amazing film. If you watch the Jacksons: An American Dream you will get a more in depth understanding of the family and the beginnings from the parents’ meeting until Motown 25.

VixenQueen

Michael is such a misunderstood man and to learn about everything he’s been through and seeing what it took to get where he was always breaks my heart because despite all the pain he still put on that beautiful smile we all loved💔

JustSims

Hiring Bill was likely the best thing Joseph ever did for Michael. He was a father figure for him. Michael kept him on his payroll after he retired and wrote him a letter saying that he didn’t know what would’ve happened to him without him. Also yeah the pain medication he had to take after the Pepsi commercial ended up leaving him with a prescription drug addiction/dependency that contributed to his death :( that’s why there was a big focus on the meds. When/if you listen to his song Morphine it’s very raw and about his addiction.

Angie

I was thinking the same comparison of his WDAN lyrics & them probably being related to his dad.

Jinkies-1738

Hey, Bro. You really REALLY NEED to React to - Michael Jackson's "BAD WORLD TOUR - Live At Wembley Stadium (July 16, 1988)

Jinkies-1738

There is actually a real clip/ performance online of Michael Jackson announcing his last and final tour at the "VICTORY TOUR" with his brothers, to his fans. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU to React to this Last Tour/ Performance of Michael with his Brothers. The Jacksons Victory Tour final!! "Shake your Body" (rare) HQ https://youtu.be/Sb1hE3h0h0E si=ZcjSynRidVnCn7sv

G.O.T GAMES

Is this aimed at me? If so it is very strange as I have never once in any video made a negative comment towards MJ. If it is just a statement to other people in general then fair enough. But your comment is very ambiguous.

G.O.T GAMES

I complimented him constantly throughout the entire film and ever stopped midway to say how incredible he was! Not sure what more I could say ha.

Angie

Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't think that there will ever be a king of pop like Michael Jackson. Due to harsh physical, verbal, psychological trauma, inside & outside of his household, that MJ experienced, the unhealthy amount of perfectionism and focus that he had towards his craft, singing, dancing, writing directing, etc and the lack of monoculture. Michael is a one of one. Then, they broke the mold. For good or for ill.

Applehead

I’m done repeating myself. Your comment shows you haven’t really researched this case. There’s no point debating someone who’s only repeating media headlines. La Toya Jackson herself later said her abusive husband forced her to make those statements about Michael. And before you keep repeating what you’ve heard from Leaving Neverland, at least watch Square One and look into the evidence from both sides. You’d also know that it’s disputed how Michael slept during those sleepovers, and that the situation has often been portrayed more simply in the media than the evidence suggests. If you’re only relying on media headlines and one documentary, you’re not getting the full picture

Alysia Hinchee

You really really need to react to his official video for Childhood. It’s so deep and meaningful and now you’ve seen a glimpse into his childhood you will understand him better with that song.

VixenQueen

The Pepsi commercial was so hard to watch💔 yes this actually happened to him and this was the root of all his other issues not all but most

DevDSilver

I just told you how to change my mind multiple times. If you ignored that it is not my problem. The biggest reason why i refuse to believe anything without video and audio proof. While not 100% solid is because of how many false cases they win from word of mouth. Let me give you an example to further prove my point and stance on this. Take that same time period and have a girl or guy have sex with someone at work or anywhere but home and hotel. That same said person is a parent and have the person they slept with watch their child for a day or however long. Now fast forward and there is a case because said person said they were SA and their child was as well. Said victim has 200 people that say that what was done was true and so does the child. A child pressured into making a statement because of a terrible person wants them to. Even giving vivid descriptions of the said acts and drawings. Now by your logic that person is rightfully convicted and jailed even though they were innocent. 200 people or more sounds like a positive thing but whether they know each other or not. They know one thing and that is if they speak up against they person they can win can get a piece of the pie. Or because the average person is sheep minded they are just doing because so many others are. Later they find out it was false even with all the odds against them. So again until i can see video and audio proof i do not fully believe anything that people say about anyone. People are liars, manipulative, vindictive, envious and sheep minded. So if it is proven that he did it than yes he is a piece of crap but it is innocent until proven guilty. I do want to fill this comment section with crap like this because somebody could not just see the reaction and ignore and move on somewhere else. Luke can make is own choice but you are not trying to do that. The 1st thing you put was if it covered his pedo era. That is not something he wants to see and should not have been done. Then you edit and mention his heart and care for kids to further push your opinion and mentality onto him. Someone who wants a person to reach their own conclusion does not start with statements like yours. They just simply tell them to look into if they want and from a unbiased neutral standpoint wait for them to make a choice/ hear their thoughts. Almost everything you have said says you just want him to share your mindset and thoughts not have his own. You let your past and bias one sided thoughts cloud your judgment in getting someone who is just enjoying themselves to hate a person they do not know. This is another reason why i tend to ignore people who have mindsets like yours because it does sound like it comes from a sound and level headed person who is just trying to bring awareness to something that could be wrong. I will leave it at this and do not wish to further engage in such a topic anymore than i already have. So i will not be replying to any other reply you make to this because it is just going to go nowhere. You can your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings and i can have mine.

Safi

No, lol, sorry not to you. Someone in the comments said some things. Your reaction was great!

This didn’t get into much detail 1) The Motown 25 performance was a huge deal because that was the first time he did the Moonwalk he also refused to do the performance unless he could perform Billie Jean. They also didn’t include the fact that the Jackson 5 also performed prior. 2) they didn’t touch on how thriller went on to be the greatest selling album of all time even til this day 3) his mom is the one that talked him into doing the Pepsi commercial and the tour 4) it switched to the Jacksons after Jermaine left to go solo when he married 5) this Pepsi incident is what ultimately led to his death he never fully recovered from the incident and started to depend on the medicine to get him through 6) He donated all the money he got from the Pepsi lawsuit to the hospital and opened his own burn unit in the hospital which eventually led to title “wacko Jacko”

So glad you watched Michael! If you enjoyed this, you'll like Selena because she was similar to him in spirit

Jen

Luke, this was so fun watching this through your eyes. It gave me back the feelings I had watching it for the first time. ❤️ I have always been a fan of Michael Jackson’s music; I was only 9 by the time he was 30; I never believed the disgusting lies and accusations about him. I went to see this in the theater 3 times by myself. The first watch I had the same visceral reactions that you did. Afterwards I wanted to learn as much as I could so I did a deep dive. I watched videos, documentaries, interviews, ordered and read books. The second watch I went in with empathy and understanding and was fully immersed in the life of MJ. The third watch was such a joy. The more I learn about him the more I love his sweet soul. Like you, I never got to see him in person, and wish so badly that I had and that I was a bit older at the time to really enjoy him while he was alive. He was a special person. I will forever be grateful for this movie and all the other videos and footage we have to be able to continue to love this man’s soul and life’s work.

Jen

Yes! This was just as good as the movie itself! I second this recommendation

KatarzynaG

Bubbles was Michael's friend.

Damien Frost

My mum and dad went to a Michael Jackson concert at aintree racecourse my dad managed to buy tickets at the last minute of his boss who couldn’t go only to find my uncle who drove them to the concert had a better view of the concert in the car park

Tara ✨💫

Hi Luke, if you want to react to more of The Jackson 5, you should be able to search YouTube for The Jackson 5. I love watching young Michael. BTW, the scene in the movie when young Michael was trying to stand still while recording was one of the songs they performed on The Ed Sullivan Show which you reacted to. The movie's soundtrack is all of their music. Jermaine was the bass player and in The Ed Sullivan reaction, you mentioned how much older he sounded. He is Jaafar's dad. When the band left Motown, Jermaine decided to stay because he was married to Berry Gordy's (The head of Motown) daughter. We don't see all the Jackson siblings in the movie because Rebbie, Randy and Janet didn't want to be a part of it. Marlon had a twin brother, Brandon who died hours after birth. So Katherine Jackson gave birth to 10 children, but there were 9 who grew up in the family. Rebbie Jackson (1950) Jackie Jackson (1951) Tito Jackson (1953–2024) Jermaine Jackson (1954) La Toya Jackson (1956) Marlon Jackson (1957) Brandon Jackson (1957) – Marlon's identical twin, who was stillborn just hours after birth. Michael Jackson (1958–2009) Randy Jackson (1961) Janet Jackson (1966)

Tara ✨💫

I remember when Michael was burned in the Pepsi commercial so clearly. It's so eerie to see Jaafar on the stretcher with the bandage wrapped around his head waving to the fans with his gloved hand. That is EXACTLY like the original footage of Michael.

PoshDoll

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE. I made this comment a while ago. This movie is really good but the really in depth one is the American Dream. It had Angela Bassett as their mother and it’s so incredibly in depth. I wouldn’t think he would want to do a reaction since it is so long but it’s probably the best movie to see a better background of family and their dynamics.

Juliana Miguel

What an incredible reaction! I was so excited for this! Part 2 is coming in 2028!

Juliana Miguel

A few thoughts: Joseph was actually much worse. Michael himself spoke about the physical and emotional abuse he suffered from his father and how it affected him for the rest of his life. The Pepsi accident happened exactly as it was shown in the movie. It caused Michael lifelong pain and played a major role in his long-term use of prescription painkillers. You should definitely watch some videos of Michael with Bubbles—they're adorable! Unfortunately, once Bubbles became an adult, Michael had to send him to a sanctuary because adult chimpanzees can be unpredictable. To this day, Michael Jackson's Estate continues to cover his care. Bill Bray was the father figure Michael never had. They worked together until 1996. You really need to read the letter Michael wrote to him—it's incredibly moving. I hope you continue this journey into Michael's world, and that the movie has inspired you to learn even more about him! Thank you so much!

Joslen Owmby

I agree with other Patreons! You should do The Jacksons: An American Dream mini series. It has much more detail and you get to know the family, his brothers especially, a lot better.

Ime Salazar

Hi! 😊 I just joined your Patreon and I'm loving your Michael reaction! Would it be possible to add Spanish subtitles (or enable auto-translation if possible)? I know many Spanish-speaking fans would really appreciate it. Thank you so much! 💛

Juliana Miguel

One more thing: besides being an incredible artist, Michael was one of the kindest and most generous people to ever walk this planet. He always made sure to give his fans all his time, attention, and affection because, as he often said, they were his family. this Will make you love him even more.

Muh-la-lay

It would be awesome if you watched the making of Michael's music videos!! They give so much insight into Michael's creative process and him as a person as well. I'd recommend the making of thriller and black and white especially.

Midori Chan

I think a reaction of his Off the Wall album and Thriller album is needed :D

Mia Speakz

No, not to you. There's a comment about Michael being pedophile that I didn't agree with and Safi's comment made me feel understood.

Jeff Bruns

MoTown technically isn't LA. Barry Gordy started Motown in Detroit, Michigan which is also called "The Motor City" a.k.a "MoTown".

Mirela Druta

Please take the time to watch LOVING Neverland - it's a documentary not only about the allegations, but also about his humanitarianism and about who Michael was as a human being. You'll never understand Michael better and what he really went through than by watching that documentary and also Square One. Square One is great, but it covers only a small part and it's also included in Loving Neverland. You should watch them both. They're the foundations upon which you can then start watching other things, like the snake Oprah interview, the with Diane Sawyer interview with Michael and Lisa Presley, the rat Martin Bashit documentary. There are sooooo many people whom Michael trusted and who betrayed him, we can't even begin to make a list - may they all burn in hell!

Mirela Druta

Joe was worse in reality than in the movie - but again, you have to remember the movie was partially funded by the Estate and was overseen by Joe's children and grandkids - there was so much they could show without overstepping the mark (the same can be said about Michael's brothers). He continued to hit Michael in his 20s. Michael even fainted once when he saw him and he said he would throw up when he saw him. Later on, in life, he ended up forgiving his father, but the scars remained there - you should listen to Michael's Oxford Speech from 2001, it's so moving and explains how he ended up making peace with his past. When they were children, Michael and Janet would picture Joe in a casket and rejoice at the image, that's how much they hated him - it's all on the Glenda tapes (they're on youtube). Overall, Michael had a good relationship with his brothers, although the envy was inevitable. However, there are some things that can't be forgiven - like Randy scamming Michael and his fans, especially during the 2005 trial, which almost landed Michael in another trouble. Randy is probably the reason Janet doesn't appear in the biopic (he's her manager). Also, at one point, Jackie left his family and refused to pay for his children's tuition and Michael stepped in. Not to mention Jermaine - this is a whoooole lot of trouble. I'll just say the most insignificant thing - during tours, he would share a room with Michael and Marlon, I think, and he would bring girls in their room and have relations with them and Michael was mortified (remember he was just a kid - his brother was bringing girls in his room and his father was cheating on his mother in the next). Also, there's the whole Branca "issue". Branca is a snake. He's been making billions for the Estate, but he's still a snake. Michael fired him several times - in 1990, in 2003, then in 2006. Somehow, in 2009, although Michael wasn't there to sign the testament, Branca produced a testament that named him the executor of the Estate - and voila! LaToya tried to say several times that the testament had been falsified. The fans have even managed to hack his emails and uncovered conversations between him and Sony, where he was trying to get hired as a consultant for Sony for a big sum of money, although he was managing the Estate. He knew Michael had fought Sony with all he had and that he didn't want to sell the ATV catalog and what did the snake do for money - he sold the catalog to SONY! Katherine tried to stop the sale, but couldn't. Michael's mom is the only one who has been constantly trying to defend Michael's wishes all along. Branca, as the snake he is, couldn't stop himself from giving himself a moment of glory in the biopic :) Also, your intuition was right - there was a reason they insisted on the pain meds. Demerol started an addiction for Michael - not because he wanted to, but because the pain was too much. They did so many experiments on him, promising him they could make his hair grow back. God only know how he was able to function, let alone perform especially during the Dangerous tour, when they would constantly inflate a balloon placed under his scalp, which was extremely painful. Eventually, in the 90s, he managed to get rid of this addiction. Unfortunately, life was never easy or fair to Michael and, in 1999, in Munich, during a charity gig, during Earth Song, the bridge he was on collapsed from VERY high and the people in the production actually thought he had died when he crashed. He survived and continued to perform. When he finished, he went backstage and collapsed and was taken to a hospital, where they discovered he had sprained his ankle, he had burnt his back nerves and a lot more injuries - nobody understood how he was able to finish the concert in that condition. That started a new cycle of pain meds, because now he was in a lot more pain. In time, that worsened because the physical pain combined with depression and anxiety because of the allegations and....his life was forever ruined. Yet, he continued to think of others and help others. Even on his last days, when the doctor who killed him, drugged him and then recorded him, hoping he would get some big revelation that would get him a ton of money, Michael only talked about how he wanted to take the money from the This Is It tour and build the biggest hospital for children in the world (you can look up Michael Jackson slurred speech on youtube). . This man was so incredible, yet his life was so painful that one cannot help but cry at the injustice of it all.

Gigi Dvl Angel

Oh poor Luke...I tried to warn you & get you to know the early stuff & all about the stage/father management. I wish you'd been more prepared B4 watching this. You're such a sweet soul & things like abuse & injustice hit you so hard just like someone literally slapped you! I'm so sorry 😔 Oh so I just finished watching this & now I've got questions. I wasn't aware of a part 2. I figured being so much family involved in this that they ended there to avoid having to deal with any of the negatives & the downhill & the eventual very sad & tragic ending. Is part 2 why some family members criticized the movie making or did they just not like parts of this one? Is Jafaar also doing part 2? Are they going with actual events & not glossing over things? Or will they deal with Lisa Marie Presley marriage & divorce, the child molestation charges, the marriage to Debbie Rowe (his plastic surgeon's assistant I believe ) for her to become the surrogate of his older children, their divorce, the addictions that they briefly touched on in this movie that got worse and worse over the years etc etc. ??? OMG Luke, you better learn about these things before you watch part 2 or you won't know WTH hit you. I've got so many more questions now! B4 anyone comes at me...I don't now nor did I ever believe he was guilty or I wouldn't be here watching. I AM concerned for poor Luke though to not get blindsided!

Gigi Dvl Angel

And it was great, but damn I'm showing my age! Lol

I just got myself the Michael pop corn bucket I got from the cinema the first of the five times I went to watch it and had almost three incredible hours watching you react to it ❤️ thank you for this reaction it really warmed my heart 🥹 me being a long time Michael fan your reaction and emotions throughout the movie really touched me 🫂 I'd really love for you to react to the behind the scenes making of the film, you are going to enjoy it immensely. You going down the Michael rabbit hole has genuinely been one of the best things that I could ask for 💜

Yes that goes much more in depth & Michael had a hand in it as well!

There are some great videos on YT of Michael & Bubbles!

Motown = motor town, because it was originally based in Detroit, Michigan, which was the heart of US automotive production for a long time. Motown Records was an amazing Black American record company, putting out Black soul music and successfully crossing over to white audiences. Many of the great Black artists of the 60s and 70s were on Motown: Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Gladys Knight, and many others. Motown Records moved to California in the late 1960s following severe riots in Detroit. Detroit was a “chocolate city,” a majority-Black city shaped by the several waves of migration of Black Americans out of the South following the failure of Reconstruction and later the Great Depression, and to chase work opportunites in the North in support of the WWII war effort. Gary, Indiana, where Michael and his siblings were born, was also a chocolate city, known for being mostly poor and crime-ridden. You’ve seen Beat It and Bad, now: those songs were MJ defending himself against criticisms of being too soft or not Black enough; having grown up in Gary, MJ knew rough, and he wasn’t afraid to admit that.

LisaT

There were 9 kids in total: 3 girls - Rebe, Latoya, Janet, 6 boys - Tito, Jackie, Germaine, Marlon, Michael and Randy.

Tessara Dudley

It’s not in the movie, but MJ had multiple pet rats. Supposedly, his father did kill one of them in front of Michael.

Kallista

He was tried for all 14 charges in 2005 this included the 1993 allegations… the jury found no evidence whatsoever of any wrong doing and these were people on the jury who were impartial some even were survivors of SA… and don’t even think of saying anything about the verdict documentary because 90% of what was said in that was twisted against Michael and brought up a case that was done and closed 20 years ago… so to say he wasn’t tried under the court of law is a lie because he was and he was acquitted of all 14 charges. So stop lying and stop arguing when you do not know all of the facts. As for paying off the family in 93his estate paid them off despite him not wanting to because he knew it would paint him in a bad light, also Gavins family that accused him later had already done the same to Chris tucker and a few other celebs, so Michael wasn’t the first and years later they admitted to the charges being false. So again get your facts right.

Shannon R.

New patron here! Excellent reaction! Going to try to answer some questions. Also offer some thoughts: 1. Yes Jafaar was excellent and worked so hard to embody his uncle. It was his first acting gig ever. The scenes where he’s singing without music are him while the ones where music is playing was him lip syncing to Michael’s tracks. 2. Jackson 5/The Jackson’s: started as Jackson 5 but when they left Motown, Jermaine stayed with them and Barry Gordy, probably because he married Barry’s daughter. Barry was a good man…I think you asked that…and even spoke at Michael’s memorial. After Jermaine stayed, they subbed in the youngest son Randy and became The Jacksons. 3. The reason the movie made a big deal about mentioning the pain killers is because he lived with that burn pain for the rest of his life and doctors kept prescribing him pain killers. You get into a thought process that if a doc prescribed it and you’re under their supervision you’re ok. Not the case for Michael as it was a contributing factor to his death in 2009. Among other horrible things that were done to him. If you’re curious, just look up the name Dr Conrad Murray. 4. He really donated the money to the burn center yes. They named the wing after him. 5. He spent the rest of his life while on tour visiting children’s hospitals, orphanages etc on every tour city he stopped in. He left 20% of his estate to charity and is in the Guinness book of World Records as the most philanthropic entertainer ever, alongside 36 or 38 other records he holds. 6. Janet, Rebbie and Randy weren’t really featured in the movie. Janet reportedly wanted nothing to do with it because she felt they sugar-coated the Joseph upbringing too much. What you saw was waaaay watered down. Michael himself is on record explaining how severe it was and stating he would often vomit at the sight of his father, and fainted at least once. In later life, Joseph seemed to mellow and they appeared to make peace. 7. Speaking of fainting, Michael said up to 5000 faints a night at his concerts. 8. As someone else mentioned, the next movie will probably be darker because after 1988 where this one ended is when the media turned against him and when allegations started coming out about him. The man literally was bullied, lied on and persecuted his entire life, all while just trying to be kind to others and make the world and people’s lives better. I hope they do it justice. 9. Someone may have mentioned this but if you want the full story, the definitive documentary to me is Loving Neverland which you can find on YouTube. 10. Toward the end, in the scene where he’s about to go back on stage, looks at Bill in the mirror and they exchange a look… he starts hyping himself up jumping up and down. Over his shoulder is a brown haired guy standing there. That’s a cameo of his eldest son, Prince. Oh an yes, Michael was shrewd at business and IMO… a marketing genius. I definitely encourage you to keep discovering the Michael discography…but I can’t wait for you to watch the concerts. That one in London at Wembley is the best of the Bad Tour. Oh Thank you for the reaction! 🫶🏻

Shannon R.

I still cry every single time I watch that video or even hear the song. Michael stated it was his most autobiographical song.

Shannon R.

The only thing I could find on Janet’s stance is she felt the portrayal of their upbringing under Joseph was too sugar coated. She wanted it to be more accurately portrayed. Supposedly that’s why she wanted nothing to do with it. But that’s the only reason I could find in researching it because I had been curious. There could be more to it. Who knows.

Tessara Dudley

Vitiligo is a condition where the body loses pigment, most noticable in Black people, but not restricted to us. It was stigmatized for a long time, and has only become much more talked about and recognized in the last couple decades, with prominent Black models/celebrities like Winnie Harlow being open and proud, and choosing not to use makeup to cover it. Michael used makeup to even his skin color on stage for a long time, and he had one glove to cover it on his hand, but by the time he died something like 90% of his body had lost pigment. He also suffered from lupus, which interfered with his healing. After his first nose job, he had some bad scarring and had to have further work done to combat that. Along with having lost his pigment, and the changes to his hairline, forehead, and eyebrows after they stretched the skin on his scalp to cover his burns, he looked very different by the time he died. He was a very sensitive person, and felt hurt a great deal by the people who insulted his looks in the 90s and 2000s. There’s a story about a director or producer suggesting they darken his skin on a music video shoot, and him locking himself in the bathroom and crying because he knew people thought he was unattractive or “ugly.” MJ suffered so much in his life, and that’s why some of us fans can be very defensive of him—he cared deeply about all people, animals, children’s rights, the environment, and even held a Guinness Book record for the largest number of charities supported by a single pop star. He was also unapologetic and proud of his heritage as a Black man, which meant people thinking he bleached his skin to look white for career success was really hurtful to him.

Shannon R.

I’m an SA survivor too and I agree with you. I never believed the allegations but I did my due diligence anyway. I read and looked at all the evidence, documents, everything I could find that’s on record. I think it was a huge smear campaign against an innocent man.

Shannon R.

Please do your own homework. His sister LaToya was married to an abusive man at the time that forced her to say that. Once she got free she told this far and wide that it was forced. Also watching Loving Neverland documentary. Listen to the secretly recorded phone calls of the accuser’s own father. It was extortion of Michael not abuse by Michael. And the boy later told someone his father made him say it. Look it up please.

Tessara Dudley

Jermaine (and some of the others) had a solo career, but never at Michael or Janet Jackson’s levels. But there’s a stage musical about his life with the Jackson 5 and his solo career. He rejoined the Jacksons for that second tour in the film, and stayed with them after that.

Erin Steele

You should check out the "Making of Thriller"! Its an entire documentary. It was the making of Thriller that sold MTV on helping Michael fund the music video!

Tessara Dudley

Apparently, when Jafaar was little and he visited his uncle, he used to love watching MJ’s videos and emulating his dances, and Michael told his siblings that if anyone could play him in a movie it would be Jafaar. Also, Jafaar tried to have a music career before this, and one record company turned him down because they said he sounded too much like Michael. But you can find his song ‘Got Me Singing’ on YouTube and Spotify.

Tessara Dudley

It’s absolutely true that MTV rarely played Black artists at that time. The quote about ‘not scaring the white kids in the suburbs’ during the meeting at the record company is paraphrased from an actual interview where David Bowie confronted an interviewer about MTV not playing Black artists. That interview can be found on YouTube and is worth watching if you want a teeny bit of insight into what was happening when Michael was trying to get Billie Jean on MTV.

LisaT

The Pepsi accident was the beginning of the end. The pain killers helped to make him resistant to sleep meds.

LisaT

Michael has said that he felt that way around Joe… he would vomit sometimes just seeing Joe - even as an adult

Tessara Dudley

None of the kids called Joe Dad because he forbade it. He wanted to make it a business relationship, and he emphasized that manager role with his kids. Joe had a 25-year long affair with another woman, and his daughter with her was the only one of his children permitted to call him Dad. They had a close relationship, but none of the Jackson siblings were ever close with her.

Tessara Dudley

When the brothers left Motown, Jermaine stayed. As a result of switching labels (to Epic Records), they had to change the name from Jackson 5 (Motown owned it, I think), so they became The Jacksons. Randy, their younger brother, took over for Jermaine in the group going forward.

Tessara Dudley

The Pepsi accident was, unfortunately, very real. You can find photos of MJ groggy and waving at fans as they pulled him from the ambulance, as he did in the film. The medication he took to manage his pain afterward led to a nasty addiction that impacted the rest of his life, and ultimately led to his death.

Erin Steele

You should really start watching Michael interviews & documentaries. Starting with the "OPRAH INTERVIEW: MICHAEL JACKSON"

Erin Steele

Michael Jackson is in the Guinness Book of Word Records for many things & one of them is being the most money donated by a single celebrity! No other wealthy person has donated as much as Michael has even though there are much wealthier people in the world!

Goldtower Business

Michael visited Disney all the time.He created Captain EO for Disney. It’s on YouTube. There are many Jackson 5 performances on YouTube as well. His father’s comments about his nose definitely affected him. However, Michael only had 2 nose jobs. The problem was his auto immune disease lupus would not allow his body to heal properly. So all the other visits were to correct what wouldn’t heal. That’s also why the Pepsi accident had him on painkillers for the rest of his life until he passed away. It never fully healed.

Clarijholic

Highly recommend checking out the making of this movie and hearing Jaafar talk about his journey making this magical movie! Can't wait for the second one!

Yase_04

The sad part is no matter how bad Jiseph was as a father... Michael still loved him and called out for his father before his death. MJ was just a loving child through and through even in adulthood

Yase_04

Also funfact: the scene with thriller is at the exact same place MJ filmed his thriller shortfilm and Jafaar said they even had the exact same full moon when they filmed as if it was meant to be

Mila G

I really love this movie. Certain scenes I could watch every day. The only thing I wish they were able to put in this one is something from 'The Wiz'. I know we see young Michael reading the book "The Wizard of Oz" and that was likely a nod to 'The Wiz'. But without that movie, MJ probably would have never worked with Quincy Jones and we might not know Off the Wall" or "Thriller" the way we do. That movie was essential to MJ's solo career. I understand there were legalities that kept that stuff from making it into the movie, but it would have been nice to see, still. Luke, you need to watch 'The Wiz', by the way. You'll enjoy it.

MJ InMotion

Sorry for such a long comment, but I was taking notes as I watched to try and address as many of the things you brought up in your reaction as I could! 🤣 As someone who was lucky enough to see MJ live 5 times (2 in Dublin for Dangerous and HIStory, 1 in London for HIStory, 2 in Munich for HIStory, plus the 1999 MJ & Friends benefit concert), watching your video brought back incredible memories. You picked up on so many great details, so I wanted to share a few answers and insights on the points you brought up: 🎤 Vocals, Pitch & Album Trivia Singing & Vocals: Jaafar Jackson actually sang the live take scenes himself! They blended his vocals with Michael’s original studio master tracks for the big stage moments. Pitch Correction: Suzanne de Passe mentioned "perfect pitch," but Michael actually had absolute pitch—he could map out full multi-instrumental arrangements and complex vocal harmonies completely inside his head without needing a reference note. Off the Wall: It was technically his 5th solo album overall, but his first adult solo album independent of his father under Epic with Quincy Jones. MJ wrote tracks like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" himself. Jermaine stayed behind at Motown because he was married to Berry Gordy’s daughter, Hazel. MTV Short vs. Long Videos: Back in the day on MTV, they usually aired the shortened edit versions during regular music video rotations (like Thriller and Bad), reserving the full short-films for special world premieres or home video VHS releases! 🏠 Family Dynamics & Business "Joseph" vs. Dad: Joe forced the kids to call him "Joseph" to keep things strictly business. The whip discipline and comments about Michael’s nose were heartbreakingly real. Motown 25 Backstage: That tension after Motown 25 was palpable. When Joe walked into the room calling Michael a "money-making machine," it sucked the air right out of the room. Limbo & Carrying the Family: Michael had to step out on his own—he had carried everyone for long enough, though he essentially remained their financial safety net/bank for the rest of his life. Triumph & Victory Tours: Michael did the Triumph tour out of loyalty, but the 1984 Victory Tour was organized behind the scenes by Joe Jackson and Don King to ride the momentum of Thriller. Michael didn't even want to do it—he donated his entire $5M+ share of the tour earnings to charity! 🏡 Encino & The Lawyer Scene Reading the Room: In that lawyer scene, Michael was actively sizing everyone up, reading the room, and studying how the business worked. He was sharp at calculating leverage early on. Why He Bought Hayvenhurst: By 1981, Joe Jackson’s bad business deals had put the family compound in financial jeopardy, and Joe was struggling to pay the mortgage. Michael stepped in and bought out Joe’s stake using his earnings from Off the Wall to save the property from being lost. Taking Control: Michael then completely overhauled the compound—adding the recording studio, private movie theater, and mini-zoo. It became his personal playground and creative sanctuary until he moved to Neverland in 1988, flipping the dynamic so the family was now residing in his home under his terms. 🩺 Vitiligo & Lupus (Clearing Up the Misconceptions) Why Address This? For decades, the media spread a harmful tabloid myth that Michael intentionally "bleached his skin because he hated being Black." Highlighting these medical conditions in the film is crucial because it sets the record straight with actual facts. Vitiligo: This is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks pigment-producing cells (melanocytes), resulting in blotchy white patches across the body. As it progressed in the early '80s, Michael initially used dark makeup to cover the white patches. Once the vitiligo spread over most of his body, his dermatologist prescribed Benoquin cream to depigment the remaining dark spots so his skin tone looked uniform. Lupus & Impact on Healing: Michael also suffered from Discoid/Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Lupus causes skin inflammation, severe tissue breakdown, and extreme photosensitivity (vulnerability to sunlight). Crucially, this autoimmune disorder severely impaired his body's ability to heal properly—which heavily complicated his recovery from skin grafts, scalp surgeries after the Pepsi fire, and his nasal surgeries (nose jobs), leading to continuous tissue breakdown, scarring issues, and severe chronic pain. 🩺 Other Health, Facts & Production Details The Pepsi Fire (1984): That accident happened on January 27, 1984, when MJ was 25—almost the exact midpoint of his 50-year life. The severe scalp burns he suffered were the root cause of his lifelong struggle with prescription pain medication. Real Gangs in Beat It: Bob Giraldi and Michael actually brought in real, rival members of the Crips and Bloods to dance together in the Beat It video as a gesture of peace and street authenticity. Bill Bray: Bill was Michael’s head of security and a deeply protective figure—really the kind, gentle father figure Michael never had in Joe. Missed Spot: By the way, at around the 2:25 mark in your Patreon video, you actually missed MJ's son Prince in the frame! Is There a Sequel YES! Originally, Antoine Fuqua planned a single 3+ hour epic that opened with the 1993 Neverland police raid and the allegations. However, due to legal constraints regarding settlement clauses, those third-act scenes had to be cut and re-edited. Because the first film now stops around the Bad tour era, it leaves room not just for Part 2 (which may jump back to cover those earlier events before moving forward), but potentially a full trilogy to properly flesh out the Dangerous, HIStory, Invincible, and This Is It eras without rushing! Both Jaafar Jackson and Juliano Krue Valdi (who played young Michael) did an unbelievable job capturing Michael’s essence, makeup, and stage presence at different points in his life. Fantastic reaction video!

I noticed you deleted a comment from someone calling MJ a PDF —it’s unfortunately a constant part of being an MJ fan having to deal with people who have completely bought into the mainstream media tabloid narrative without ever doing any actual research or educating themselves first. MJ was definitely eccentric, but his heart was pure, good, kind, and honest. Every single allegation can be traced directly back to money and financial extortion. Since you mentioned wanting to see more films/media about MJ, here are a couple of great ones to check out: The Jacksons: An American Dream: It’s a classic fan favorite! It’s definitely a sanitised look at the Jackson family, but it’s still really well done and well worth a watch. Square One (Documentary on YouTube/Prime): This is an absolute must-watch for anyone who wants the actual facts. It completely breaks down the '93 allegations using court documents, evidence, and primary sources that expose the financial motives behind it all. Keep up the great work on these reactions!

🤣🤣🤣 Another great reaction!! Thank you. And yes, it's definitely in the blood. Jaafar did an amazing job and I truly think he is the only person in the world who can move and sing like Michael. Fun fact, the vocals for this movie is Jaafar and Michael together. I am a huge MJ fan, from J5 to the Jackson's and of course Michael solo. There will never be another human being like Michael Jackson. He was truly too good for this world. Sadly, even in death, the bloodsuckers won't leave him alone. The amount of evil that was and continues to be done to Michael just breaks my heart and makes me so angry. But Michael was strong and a fighter. If he were here today, he'd be fighting the evil tooth and nail!! Ok, I digress; Jaafar Jackson has a single that he put out in 2019 called Got Me Singing. It's so good. You should check it out. He filmed the video in Brazil like Michael did for his They Don't Care About Us video.

Watch the Jacksons American Dream 4 hours and Loving Neverland also gives some essential background in his later life also. Both should be watched.

Tamara Whiteurst

They show the iv and talk about the medicine as a foreshadowing of how he died.

sheralee webb

Yeah I often think what if he’d stood up to his dad sooner? What if he’d just refused to do the tour? What if he’d not got those burns? His life could have been completely different.

Emoni Kellum

He couldn't move his feet because it was being picked up on the microphone, that's all.

Elena

Yes ! i really hope you'll make a reaction out of it ! would love to see you watch the making of !

Ophe-phe

The fire incident directly led to his death. He died from he meds he needed to manage his pain

Diamond Rose

The Bad scene, I was screaming the words back at him in the theater, it was incredible! Jaafar did an incredible job as his uncle. He'd be so proud of him! Bad was Jaafar's FIRST day on set. He had never acted before, had two years of training. Some of Michael's band members were there watching that day, his cousin Prince, Michael's oldest son, he had to step away and cry because he hadn't seen his dad since he died, and Jaafar looked uncanny for a few minutes.

Regal Love

Thank u Queen, I have been putting this suggestion in the Youtube comments since he started the Michael Journey, I wish he would have reacted to that one first, but this movie is a masterpiece as well lol

Gerard McCartan

What happened to the MJ MTV 1995 reaction? Maybe im a wally but I cant find it, i watched your reaction afew days ago and loved it man :-)

Tracey Smith

Your reaction videos are my favorite! You should definitely watch The Jacksons: An American Dream. 🤩💗🌎🕊️

Nursecanty

I love your reactions.❤️

BridgesNotBurned

Just what I needed tonight! Been a rough week and this is the way to close it all down and go into a weekend clear! Loved this watch along! Thank you Luke! 🙏🙏💙💙

fedolo

I think Joseph did it for himself, but also for them, because he saw potential but the more popular they became, the crazier he got, so to speak.

fedolo

The reason they kept talking about that medication was that it ultimately caused his death later in his life

Zayne

Then literally why are you here then???? You're wasting your own time and money, for what? So you can throw up the lies that's been constantly spread??? They searched him and found nothing. And yet people like you continue to lie. And from your comments you don't even like mj, so again what's the point.

Zayne

Yes please Luke. An American dream.

Jae Right

You should also watch Jacksons: An American Dream. It’s one of the best biopics ever created. Michael was never satisfied with his look. He became quite addicted to plastic surgery, His siblings did too, to a lesser degree. Speaking of siblings, not all of them agreed to be represented in the film. That is why you don’t see them here.

Darren

They will have to be very careful when they do a second film and hopefully they just focus on his musical talent because that’s what it should be

Ammadiyya King

Hey, I just wanted to let you know I am super excited about the second Micheal coming out and yes there is going to be a second Micheal movie. Also, there is behind the scenes look at the Micheal movie as well as a behind-the-scenes thriller video that you can see on YouTube you just have to type in thriller behind the scenes and Micheal behind the scenes. The thriller one is about I think 45 minutes 30 to 45 minutes and it’s a really good behind the scenes special. And the Micheal behind-the-scenes is pretty cool. I want to let you know I really enjoyed your feedback in your reaction. And it really showed you a little bit more about Micheal that we didn’t know before. Like the skin disease that he had is called vitiligo also, he lived with his parents until he moved out in 1988 to Neverland the ranch home.
