I agree with you about a lot of writers pushing The “Who will it be” scenario in relationship anime but the writer of MHA explicitly said he didn’t want romance to be the focus of MHA so I think instead it’s just hinted at to this point. Btw I still do agree with your take. Would be cool to see them together in the anime while also balancing being heroes lol

There is an anime out there that has both "will they won't they" and actual couples. It's one of my favorites! It's called FairyTail. And a lot of the side characters do get together. It's a very fun anime

It exists in anime, just not shonen anime. Gotta look for romance anime, and usually not the school romance ones. I don't mind it too much in this context because it does become a theme later on in the show. But yeah, I do wish shonen anime would just shoot their shot when romance isn't going to be the driving factor of the story like this one.

Having a crush on a popular kid in highschool, and then not acting on it, is pretty normal highschooler behaviour. I know you're the type that just speaks up, so maybe you never experienced that, but lots of people have, and the culture in Japan is also very different about that type of thing as well. So even if it is a trope and tactic to appeal to shippers, it is realistic too.

Being invisible might be useless in the kind of training they get as heroes, but it would be a useful skill in a stealth situation. I think they showcased that not long ago when the students were fighting the teachers and she was sneaking around to get the cuffs on the teacher. I think I would agree in the training they get or a real fight I'd probably still want someone like todoroki on the scene.

As someone who really enjoys romance, but not necessarily when it's the entire focus of a piece of media (I'm ADHD, I need something flashy to keep my attention unless the romance is REALLY engaging), I feel you. So many action/adventure shows I watch introduce romantic elements only to treat it as a gag or do nothing substantial with it. As Vitero27 already said here, MHA's mangaka stated that he didn't want romance to be a main focus, which is absolutely fine. However, my advice to authors that don't properly commit to developing their romantic elements would be this: If you aren't going to do anything meaningful with a romance subplot, don't introduce it in the first place. Sorry for the long comment, this is something that's been on my mind for a while lol. Thanks for the awesome video as always!

I know Luke has alot of his plate but if he wants an anime where they get together early there is alot out there. Like You and I are polar opposite or Horimiya. I could name alot but I know it will be awhile before Luke has a chance to watch a new anime.

If You want anime with a 'relationship', there is one You already saw some scenes from. Horimiya, the anime in which dub is very sus (which I don't remember being like this in subs). Very nice anime to just watch, relax and laugh.

I feel the same about Ochaco. I understand and respect that the creator didn't want relationships, but then WHY put in a crush/relationship? To string along shippers of course. It makes hype and buzz. It's just depressing that Ochaco seems to have gone from her own character to a character who does everything based on 'and I like Deku' I mentioned in Season 1 that I would like more female characters taking the spotlight once in a while, but I get that it's shounen. Still, they could have scenes of Deku teaming up with the females once in a while. Now, I might prefer BakuDeku but I like DekuOchako too! I actually wish Deku and Ochaco had actual moments together. Fighting together; as equals. It could happen in the future, I've only seen up to Season 4 so far, so maybe I'll get my wish eventually, but I won't hold my breath. Female characters always fade out.

The animes Horimiya and Tonikaya have early relationships. To answer the question about 9min in. Obviously there's probably alot more but those i know for certain off the top of my head. Jeez didn't know you'd go on a minute long rant.

If you want characters to get together "early" in a series, you have to lean more towards shoujo anime. I HIGHLY recommend "Horimiya" for the humor, character dynamics, and overall story. You did "out of context" reactions, I'd love see you get the full scope of how funny it is as a series.

If I want people getting together, I'll watch boring romance anime. I watch shonen to watch people kick ass together, not fall in love. But there is a certain Shonen out there where a couple meet early and get together at the end (157 episodes), but it's never voted for because there is some...nudity in it. Just not female.

I have 2 anime that I hold that have some of the best relationships in anime that I can recommend to anybody; they both get together early in the series: The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity and Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story!!).

You already watched that anime. Its Sword Art Online. For all its faults and whatever people say its problems are, it had the balls to make the main characters a couple. Not just that, its a beliavable relationship, it wasnt just "because they are MCs". Though... the arem still grew.... but at least bro stayed by his GF side (at least til season 3 didnt watch the rest yet) AND DONT SPOIL ME ON THE REST IF IT CHANGES AFTER.

There are a few good anime where the couple gets together early on and the story then focuses on the relationship. *My Love Story!!* (Ore Monogatari) is a great anime where they quickly enter a relationship and the story revolves around that; it’s also really funny. *TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You* also focuses almost entirely on the relationship between two young people and is highly recommended. You really ought to do a romance tournament, just like you did for the sports anime.

On the "uncensored" topic, it's literally just that there are some things you can't get away with when it airs on TV that you can get away with on Blu-Ray, and a lot of the streaming services just mirror the TV broadcast. Sometimes they don't though, I know CrunchyRoll updated Season 1 of Jojo to be the uncensored BD versions because the censored TV broadcast was literally unwatchable, but went back to using the TV broadcast for Part 3 and beyond because it was less egregious.

They normally don’t focus on couples bc you watch what they call shonen, a genre targeted towards young males. If you want to see couples you could watch a shojo, targeted towards young girls

You are really right on the ships hot take. And to add to that fact about anime, in Japan culture, couples are REALLY slow. Until a couple can kiss, or have a real solid relationship, takes a lot of time, like anime. So it's a mix of fan service on shipping characters + Japan culture too. It really annoys me too.

It may not be a very commonly known thing, more so since they show a lot in anime, but it is 'completely against the rules' for the vast majority of Japanese schools to have any romantic relationships between boys and girls while still in school. That is until college.
