If everyone's quirk was removed, I'm pretty sure the tail guy would be the #1 in class 1-A in terms of fighting. Aside from being quite muscular he has proper martial arts training. Judging from Sato's huge muscles, it's quite likely he'd wipe the floor with current Midoriya too. Shoji is way bigger than Midoriya too

Interesting you bring up the tone shift from how positive it was, to how dark it's getting, it's almost like a representation of the world all might made as the dazzlingly bright symbol of peace, and how dark it gets when that symbol is gone, the anxiety and worry that comes after, that's how that whole society is feeling too, and the writing portrays that so well!

You're right in that the second half of the season is more calm than the first half, but they do keep the tension up in the background while the foreground gets more relaxed; the Kurogiri/Gigantomachia thing here is just one example.

I appreciate the subtle Re:Zero reference. Back in the beginning of season 2, Ochaco shared that her reason for being a hero was to make enough money to help support her parents. Flash forward to the present, she’s faced with actual death and now that reason has become to save people’s lives. A very important footstep for her character. The moment between Kirishima and Mina is really cute when you remember Mina’s promise to talk him up to their middle school friends once he overcame his insecurities. She just instantly understood when he said “I’m not there yet.” Mirio is great but I have always said he is great because he isn’t the main character. He serves as an ideal for Deku to look up to without the reverence he has for All Might. Some people make comments that he should have been the MC without considering how that would require changing his character to work writing wise.

11:10 Mirio’s joke here is based on the Japanese word “Genki”, which means energetic/vigorous, but Genki is also used to describe being healthy (in a medical sense). So he’s basically saying “they won’t let me leave 5e hospital even though I’m ‘genki’ enough to do all this.” Silly wordplay.

yeah luke doesn't take into consideration midoriya is 165cm and 50kg. Meanwhile the sugar guy is 185cm and 90kg. If someone has "2x" your weight, good luck winning that fight. I'd say a martial artist that is elite level can win but it's most likely to be a stamina fight, the martial artist would keep distance and waste the normal person stamina. Do this and you win any fight. Even the stress being in a fight wear someone down physically and you gas up faster. Get a good punch in and the normal person will be scared and the fight might end up even faster. But if it's between two trained high stamina individuals even if one is elite and the other is just "ok" in terms of fighting ability the elite will always lose.

When you take all the personality quirks someone has and change that to a more serious/toned down version then the whole tone of the show changes. Pervy guy stops being pervy. Uplifted happy smiley character that smiles all the time stops smiling recently. Bubbly female character that was a ray of sunlight has now anxieties and needs comfort instead of her offering comfort. It's almost as if you change everyone then the tone shifts.

Comparing Deku and Lemillion in terms of physical strength is a bit of a stretch. Deku is a first-year student and Lemillion is a third-year, so it’s obvious that Lemillion is stronger. You could say, though, that Lemillion represents what Deku will be like in two years.
