That bug joke had to be a weird translation issue. Because the dub handled it much better. There a few lines in the show like that where the translation kills a joke.

Bug Joke. for one thing, you don't remember the set up. after yapping about the bug he says, "What is this bug in my soup?" That's short for "What is with this bug in my soup?" Waiter goes smart-ass and says he's not a bug expert. The old joke is, "What is this bug doing in my soup?" Smartass waiters: "A backstroke."

The bug joke is funny because: it's a veiled response to his character, he acts like an insect (the lowest of the low). He practically returned the favour after calling him a servant after he told him he is actually a sous-chef.( practically second in command in any kitchen/galley) he is practically telling everybody in the restaurant that the complainer ( marine guy) has no manners or tact, acting like a low life being, similar to insects.

He said he didn't know what the bug was since he didn't know much about them, because Fullbody acted like he knew wine earlier but couldn't identify the actual wine he was served.

And the rest of the people laughed, because Fullbody was so loud and sure of his answer about the wine before (trying to impress his date and the rest of the people there). He made a fool of himself, so the 'waiter' embarrassed him even further.

Speaking of falling asleep. Takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to fall sleep, but I also doze off easily during the day. It's like having both Insomnia and Narcolepsy. I'll even doze off playing games, stuff like walking off cliff, runinng into walls, or circling an enemy. I even doze off when watching anime sometimes, I've had to rewind so often, especially when watching subs cause I'll miss what they are saying. I can't drive too far either cause of it, more than about 20-30 minutes and I struggle to stay awake. I've fallen asleep in the drive thru a few times. I think it mostly has to do with my body not moving much when doing certain things. If I have something to snack on in the car I'm fine. Luckily I've never had an accident because of it, but have slid into the gravel on the side of some roads once or twice. After that my body has enough adrenaline from the near miss to get me home.

For others saying that dub handled better it's not about that. Because in other translations it said: "I'm not sure. It looks like it's doing the backstroke to me." or "I don't know... looks like it's drowning to me." And those were reply to : what is the bug doing in my food.

You must not think about going to sleep when you try to sleep! You are keeping yourself awake with that thought. Always think about something random that makes you think about other stuff. That way your brain loops through multiple thought processes without resolving one of them and your mind is spiraling deeper and deeper into the void. After 20 years inside the chest, Gaimons body fused with it. If they break the box it would kill him!

i don't know if im stupid but regarding that bug joke, i always thought they were laughing at the joke because he was basically mocking him bcs he previously acted like a know it all regarding wine
