A few people reported issues with haptics not working as expected recently. I checked it and for me things worked as expected. The problems might be just for Meta Quest devices. I can't test those headsets, I have an older Oculus Rift S. But I made this quick update with a few changes that maybe will help. Other people that have Quest headsets and test this, please let me know if haptics works for you or not.
REHAPTICS
For people new to this, ReHaptics is a plugin that adds haptic feedback vibration for the VR controllers. When the VR hands have collision and they collide with objects, you should get vibration.
HAPTIC GLOVES
V6 has support for bHaptics gloves. I dropped the haptic gloves feature from V7 due to lack of interest for it and because it complicates things in numerous ways. The feature should still work with the older version of ReHaptics for people that want to use it.
TOUCH STRENGTH
I improved the haptic feedback for VR controllers. Now the vibration strength changes based on the force of the contact. Soft touches have now softer vibration. There's also a few new sliders to control the parameters for this feature.
VR HANDS SIZE
I also added something someone requested a while ago. I wasn't able to do it then, didn't know how, but it was easier now so I added it here: scale sliders for the hands. This allows for more feminine VR hands as well as for bigger thicker hands:
I only tested this for like 2 minutes, so it's technically experimental. If you get bugs, let me know. If the fingers look weirdly placed, try to toggle the hands on/off (trigger1+grip on a VR controller). Also please let me know if there was a specific context in which that happened, if there's some steps to replicate the issue, so that I can patch it.
OCULUS
This is just for Oculus for now, to try to figure out the issues on Quest that some reported. If other people have issues, please:
1. try increasing the Duration and see if that helps
2. check if the buttons Test Left and Test Right work
Comment here and I'll try to do more debugging. When it's all good and people confirm it works for them too, I'll make an update to make it work with the Steam version as well.
HOW TO USE
add var in vam's AddonPackages folder
load plugin as a SessionPlugin
once loaded, everything should be automated and you should get haptic feedback when touching things. Make sure to have hand collisions enabled (button with the index finger in the VAM UI)
UPDATE
For people that use this, if you have Meta Quest 3, please let me know if this works or not for you. You can ignore the debug file, that prints some log messages for debugging purposes.
