I ran out of space on vimeo for the week 🤣

so the tutorial is attached to this post

This quick video attached shows how you can use extratriggers v1 to add footstep sounds very quickly. Takes about 2 minutes to do and works with any scene and animation type. You can skip the first 2 minutes of the video, i'm just setting up the walking animation

NOTES
- for footsteps it's best to also set the Group field in extratriggers. Set it to Floor|Slate and it will trigger only when an atom of type Floor or Slate gets hit
- you can make it better by using two audio sources, one attached to each leg, and two extratriggers plugins handling them for a bit more realism and different sounds for each leg

This is pretty interesting, but does take some work. First in VR I do not see a keyboard key for "|". Second every scene in the world is already using Audio Source, and if I select Audio Source 2, it is not in the 2nd drop down when configuring the trigger. So, I had to do some finagling because it works best with audio source which is in the drop downs, when configuring the trigger. I ended up adding more elements for it to work with my scene, or some steps did not make a sound. Also, the threshold and collision must be configured, probably per scene. I did not see a way to save the Audio

Source so I could just easily add it to another scene. So, this does work but does take some time to configure for each scene. I am still learning the plugin, so I will probably need to work with it a little in multiple scenes to really grasp it, as I am not real sufficient yet with VAM. I need to find a better heel sound. When I have time I will play with it some more, over all it is a pretty good plug in and does what you demonstrated.

Doing complex scenes in vam in VR is very tedious, i don't even bother anymore, i'd rather do them quickly on desktop and then enjoy them in vr, personally i recommend going that way. But certainly there must be a key for that too, what device are you on? I'll add comma as a delimiter too in the next update along with wildcards Also, you should check my demo scene i added last night here https://www.patreon.com/posts/plugin-update-2-68568775 to see how i did it for my video for better footstep results. In the tutorial i tried to keep it as simple as possible. In the demo I went for 2 audiosource atoms, 1 for each foot, separate collision for each, and got better results for footsteps like that if it helps

AudioSource is kinda the only way to do sounds properly in vam because they're 3d/spatial. They're atoms in the scene from where sounds can be emanated. Without them the sounds would feel the same from wherever in the scene you are, wherever you look. So they're atoms like any other and "AudioSorce" is just the name of the atom. You can add hundreds of them and name them however you want. Like ExtraTriggerAudioSorce1. You don't have to keep it specifically named "AudioSource"

The trick with vam to avoid repeating stuff is by using subscenes. When you have something that you want to reuse, you add a subscene atom to your scene, you position it somewhere close to whatever you want to repeat (an audiosource atom in this case), you then select the atoms that you want to repeat and set their parent as that new subscene. You then save the subscene and done. You can then add subscenes and load those elements again in other scenes

ok, I can give that a try, thanks
