i watched both godfathers about a month ago, i absolutely loved the first one and while i did enjoy the second one i believe it is overhyped, maybe it was just me but throughout the movie i felt lost

Definitely iconic and a landmark moment in cinematic realism. This film raised the standard for cinematography, acting, and writing for all films, not just gangster films. Now that you know Vito has tasked Michael with getting their family out of the mafia, the next two films show how he does it, while trying to save his relationship with Kay.

That's a normal reaction for the second film. The confusion is intentional to give the sense of how Michael is always one step ahead of everyone else, just like Vito.

My favorite reaction was when Sonny died. Now you know what sports announcers are talking about whenever they say that someone got lit up like Sonny Corleone at that tollbooth during any blowout.
