it fits better to watch ilses notebook after episode 1 and before episode 2 due to the beast titan being the first to speak and the name drop. so they did this the best way

Sean Carroll

in case you dont remember miche was the guy in the courthouse who sniffed eren and was also the guy who could smell the titnas coming into the forest to eat the female titan and warned erwin and levi. The creator of the attack on titan that miche was too OP to keep alive for later on because of his titan smelling abilities

2 Notes to answer some questions you seem to have had. In the intro, only about half or less of the shots in the intros from here on out actually happen in the show. Mostly, the intros are foreshadowing for the current season and even later seasons. The Beast Titan took the 3D gear’s engine basically. The piece that shoots out like a jet and consumes the gas. (Think back to when Mikasa ran out of gas in season 1 after Eren was eaten.) He thought it was an ingenious invention.

Shoshana is definitely right. You guys no doubt can theorize up a whole load of questions, and season 2 is just like season one where you get answers; but also more questions as the episodes pass.

Nah it's more shocking what happens in Ilse's notebook because it's truely unexpected and doesn't take anything away from s2 e1. But watching Ilse's notebook anytime after s2 e1 takes everything away from Ilse's notebook. Like there's literally no point in watching Ilse's notebook anymore
