Honestly, I haaaated the Kevin Finnerty shit the first time I watched this. It just really seemed pointless, and it was really obvious to me that Tony was not going to die, lol, so no stakes to it. It's grown on me over time, though. Still a little too long ,imo, but Gandolfini is amazing in those scenes and really convincing. What an actor. AJ is annoying as hell, on that Ziggy from the Wire type wave, fucking up everything he touches, lol, and acting like a little kid.

Kevin finnerty and the monks is Tony accepting Buddhist beliefs like nirvana and infinity to ease his path to death. We die but the trees will still grow. Love your reactions, best sopranos reactions

I always appreciated these few episodes because I had a friend who woke up from a 6 month coma (he was in a car accident), and once he learned how to walk/talk again, we had a long conversation about his dreams. Said it was like living another life, that they weaved in and out of connection to one another, perpetually. It always made me laugh when he said his first thought after waking up from a coma was freaking out about being late for work (also, kinda dark lol). But it really seems like coma dreams are a real thing, so it’s cool to see The Sopranos take it seriously, especially considering how much of the show revolves around dreams/the unconscious.

Sil knows his limitations. He always knew he'd be a great consiglieri, not a great boss. I think AJ is a douchebag, but he should be about 18 or 19 since he was in college for a couple of minutes. We can't expect him to be mature. Not to mention he isn't the brightest bulb in the pack. I think Vito has the ruthlessness to be a boss. Whether he'd be a good one, who knows. Poor Finn, you can see he's terrified of the guy.

i ordered pasta, gonna watch now yay. soon.

sil's bitch

Paulie referring to Carm as 'The Princess of Little Italy' is a reference to one of Stevie Van Zandt's (Sil) songs that he came out with in the 80s. It's really good!

Reminded me just now of Jacob's Ladder: "The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul."

Norway123

The "what, u speak norwegian?" was quite meta. Stevie Van Zandt plays in the norwegian series Lillyhammer, and is also been showing a lot of interest in the norwegian music scene!

There’s so much behind this episode, there’s essays and countless YouTube videos on it. There’s so much in here it’s insane. And it all makes sense. I highly suggest a “Pure Kino” youtube video on this episode.
