Me: I have this beautiful verse about fascism and idol-worship. I think it would make for a really great song!Muses: I hear you, but how bout you make one about sitting on someone's face, instead.Me: Please, there has to be another way.Muses: You can take it or leave it, but we really don't care either way.Me: Why do you hate me? 🥲

The Muses must be on something, lately! Or they just need a vacation....

I made a good song (at least I think it's good; The algorithim will ultimately decide if I can be happy with it or not), so now I have to make 3 terrible songs that I hate, 1 song where I tear myself apart and beg everyone tell me I'm not a waste of oxygen, AND ONLY THEN will the muses return. I think. That's how LGL and Dommy Mommy happened, anyway. It is the cycle. Of torture, inspiration, and silence. Woe is me 😇 (but seriously, I appreciate anyone who can deal with my nonsense for more than a few days. All of you are angels and I appreciate you)

Boxlord Chester

I dunno sounds like two things that could be put together 😍

apmoore94

Well, at the very least, you have the cycle all figured out! 😂😭 but for real, I haven't heard a bad song from you yet, even the ones you might not be happy with!

Struggles of an artist (not like I know) when I try and get creative on projects I just glue random crap to it or throw more paint at it

Charli Morgan

For me it's like...okay, you know that idea of lightning in a bottle? Well it's like that, sort of. Imagine that there's this block of marble, right, and it phases into my space-time for like 2 seconds. I have two seconds to grab my tools and work it into the shape that I see. And I see the entire thing in that moment. I know exactly how to get there most of the time and I HAVE to act on it because if I wait, it no longer exists. But there is a catch: if I'm wrong at all about HOW to get it into the right shape, it phases out of spacetime and I will never see it again. It's so...temporary so locked into a specific moment. Like all these connections just align and lightning flashes across my eyes. And I either capture it or I don't.

Charli Morgan

And thanks to my T-drive (the T is for Tartarus), you never will ✨😇 But I guess that's the funny thing, isn't it; they have a drive of their own, not the recycle bin.

Boxlord Chester

Whoa I think I get it kinda like remembering a dream after waking up in that first minute it starts running away and it gets lost on ya just know we're all rooting for ya and on my drive to work I was jamming out to pepper spray and candy rain which has become one of my favorite songs 😁❤️

Charli Morgan

That's exactly it! Yeah, like if you don't write down exactly what your dream was about, it's gone forever. Oh, and you're going to like the song that's coming on Friday a whole helluva lot, then. 🙂 It's not super similar, but more similar than anything I've made since

apmoore94

Consider it a time-capsule of your progress! You can always look back on those with (probably not-so-) fond memories 😅

Boxlord Chester

Woohoo! Somthing to look forward to 😁

Charli Morgan

A time capsule, yes... So, okay. Before Eagle 1, I was shit and I knew it. After Eagle 1, I was like "okay, I might have talent, but it could be luck. I mean, 1 good song in some 2000 attempts is luck, right? And then I made Orbital Artillery, and I thought that was shit. Quirky, but just shit. From a technical standpoint, I barely understood how DAWS work and it sounds like it. But whatever, moving on. So I couldn't replicate the success of Eagle 1 and I was damn near about to give up. And then LGL happened. And this was different. Eagle 1 is a meme but it's not unique. It could've been any other pop punk song. But LGL? That is a fucking masterpiece. I haven't heard anything like it. You won't hear anything else and confuse it for LGL. It is me. It's my brand. It's the greatest piece of art I've ever made. And that's the problem: now I know I have pop-star potential. Maybe not like t-swift, but I'm a little bit famous now and I know I have the capability to repeat that success and innovation bc I have three song I'd consider really good AND, more importantly, a lot of other people think are very good. So now I need to AT LEAST meet that bar. And, like, I didn't think I'd top eagle 1. I was so broken over that. But I did. And not by a little bit. I made a fucking hit. I put myself on the map and that song is responsible for what could be $12,000 a year for the rest of my career. Like holy shit. So now I have to top that. But how? It's not a matter of working hard; it's just jumping on every idea I ever have because it MIGHT be really good. It MIGHT surpass LGL. And that pressure you know. I feel like everyone expects another song like that, but I couldn't possibly repeat it. I mean, I tried but the sequel wasn't better. Creatively, it's just phenomenal. I'll be kind to myself tho and say that Dommy Mommy, from a technical standpoint, is better, but if technical skill mattered, I never would've made it this far in the first place. So here I am, wondering if I'll ever top my best, but always pushing for it because there is, theoretically, a song thats better than anything I've ever made and I could, in theory, snatch it from the ether. But will I? I don't know. I've been wrong about how good or bad my songs will be received in nearly every instance. So...yeah, that's what's in my mind :P And this is...how I'll be forever. I have a feeling you're going to be with me for a very long time so don't be surprised when I do this a lot. I love thst you're here. I love that you're supporting me. No matter how many times you tell me that you love what I make, it will never get old. I need this affirmation and support bc I am a very fragile, emotional artist, and I need an audience who loves me or I wilt. 💙

apmoore94

Dude, I LOVE Orbital Artillery! And LGL is an absolute FUCKING MASTERPIECE, I agree. But I don't think you need to feel like you HAVE to meet that bar. After all, even T-Swift herself doesn't release every song as a single, but she still has good albums. Not every song might be the one you love, but it might be the one someone else does!

La Vida Awesome

Just as the Muses converge, the Neuros diverge… I understand the struggle!

Elliot

I always thought your helldivers songs nailed the eroticisation of violence that often accompanies fascism (while also just being good to listen to). So I reckon it can work.

Charli Morgan

I know the lyrics can work, but the sounds elude me. I don't think this one is ever gonna be more than the 30 second clip I made yesterday.

Elliot

Fair, if you know it's not working there's no sense pushing it. No need to run into walls on purpose.

David Pogin

As much as I'd probably play a song about fascism and idol worship at full volume, the distraction from our every day life is much appreciated

David Pogin

I think most of us do. I'd guess I probably spent more on liquor than I had the previous year already. I read somewhere that art is by its nature a counter to fascism. I've been trying to drag that into my own creative endeavors, though I'll admit it hasn't been working well
