But it's about the AH-56 😏

Aaron Moore

Do it. Also, what's your favorite experimental (fixed wing) aircraft?

Aaron Moore

Fair enough! You should look up the XB-70 Valkyrie, though. You could probably do an entire deep dive into experimental weapons systems that didn't get where they should have.

It needs to have a feminine theme to it. Like a punchline or something. Formula for success = thing that usually is associated with men + unapologetical femininity + bop

Aaron Moore

Oh, no! I wasn't suggesting it for like, a song or anything. I was only suggesting it cause I love stuff like that, and I though you might find it interesting, is all 😅

Ryan Holt

Xp-55 ass ender for sure! I have a soft spot for those experimental pusher just like the J7W1

Garrett

The Cheyenne was a sweet piece of kit. Give it coaxial rotors to address retreating blade stall and I bet a modern one could get some serious speed.

Charli Morgan

I can't remember the name, but that other competitor to the new tiltrotar helicopter looked so good. Two rotars, a propeller, big wings...now that's an attack helicopter worthy of Mordor.

I love looking into all the experimental tech they came up with in the post/Cold War years. I have yet to find out what happened to all the Flight Line and Checkered Paint they used to have in inventory

Aaron Moore

Don't forget the left handed torque wrenches and ID-10T forms. Those were critical, ans nobody can find them anymore! 😂

Aaron Moore

I have always been a fan of the B-36. Pusher Prop Bomber that never dropped a bomb in anger. And she was BIG.

Aaron Moore

Oh the SB-1 Defiant? I thought that one was a shoe-in to win, but then they picked the V-280 Valor, which blew my mind. The Defiant was just SO good! And absolutely looked like a beast.

Charli Morgan

Same here. It's a better helicopter by far, but it turns out that nobody wants a better helicopter: they want a plane.

La Vida Awesome

Knew a few people in Tucson who were working on one to get it airworthy again, but I don’t think they got further than just restoring it cosmetically. I think they were some of the original crew, because Savis-Monthan used to be a SAC base during the Cold War

Aaron Moore

Yeah, any former Air Force aircraft is still owned by the Air Force, and they won't allow any B-36s to fly due to safety reasons. The comically small intakes made the engines overheat and catch fire, ALOT.

Garrett

Yeah I'm really surprised that they went with the V-280. If you lose power in a tilt rotor you are seriously screwed. Planes glide and helicopters can auto rotate. Tilt rotors just crash. Bonkers to see that they are going that route given what they know from the Osprey.
