2026-09-06 06:00 Define “not doing well” The way I see it, you have over 7,000 subscribers and over 1.2 million views on a 4-month old channel with only 22 videos. And that’s just on YouTube! Girl, you are taking off! You’re peerless and fearless! You don’t just take a bow, you flit off the stage! We are your battle buddies, and it’s no decision: you make our hearts go BRRRRRRRRRT!!!!

I know I'm doing well overall but to see songs I worked so hard on just flop like this is disheartening. I want to always do better than the last time.

One thing to consider is spacing videos when you have a group so the algorithm is more favorable. I've seen talk of it trying to force channels to be 'regular' to get recommended more.

They are honestly really good, just a narrower audience

One thing I've noticed about small-ish artists is that their YouTube videos aren't super popular but the songs always do numbers when it comes to streaming.

Charli Morgan

I think you're right about that. I've made easily 8x–10x as much from Spotify than I've got from YouTube.

KaiserPodge

You're doing awesome work. But now it's tactics to get it into earholes. Remember, each step is going upward!

It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

I hate how social media has primed us to think of pretty big numbers as small. If you are a twitch streamer with 8 viewers- 8! people think you are interesting enough to spend time with and entertain them, when there's hundreds of thousands of other people out there they could be watching just on the same platform. If i could get 8 people to find me charming at once irl, i'd be pretty ecstatic. 8k listens to Air dominance in 21 hours. Yes, half of those were me, personally, but compare how close it is to 2&3 - songs that have been out for months to find viewers and places in playlists. It's made like 80% of the same reach, while also being in a much smaller niche. I'm pretty sure next month we'll see Air Dominance surpassing I wanna be in Meele Infantry. As it should, air superiority. I do personally think the three releases in one day may have tripped up the algo against you, but it's the kind of thing i can't prove, just tech superstition.

So the way this graph works is that it's measuring how all of those songs were doing at the same duration of the one I'm checking it against. So it's not very good. Not very good at all. 😭 Why don't more people subscribe? I have 270k views on LGL, so why don't I have even 27k subscribers? What am I doing wrong? 🥺 You might be right with dropping three songs at once, idk. It was an experiment.

I misunderstood, but the point i started with is still valid. you have 7.5k unique subscribers, in four months, i don't think i even know 70 unique people. Gonna look through the other indie artists i follow on youtube, realizing that this is a very difficult to judge comparison- some artists have been out there much longer, but have fewer songs. I think an account with a handful of songs over a longer period is still pretty comprable, but not if they have like 30 songs over a four year period. Mae M has two music videos out, 6 songs over a two year period. 461 subs, 371 views on their last video. Anya nami went viral with 'bread', it has 9.4 million views, and is stupid tiktok trend stuff, but for that being her peak, she has 226k subs - 1/36th the views of her bigest hit Translating to subs. That's actually a similar ratio of your views on LGL to subs. Interesting, and worth thinking about how a lot of people do view viral songs multiple times, so unique users to subs is probably an even higher ratio. get the axe has a much longer channel history, but really low views and few videos. Their most successful video came out 2 months ago to 15k views, but their next highest is 3.6k, and 1.4k. They have 566 subscribers. I'm geist doesn't really use their youtube channel much, most of their stuff ends up as 'releases upload' by their distro company, but their own only has 6.3k subs, while being around a lot longer and having a larger release catalog. tiramika has 31 videos, has been around for three years, 3 months ago their release got 266k views - far highest on the channel, but their sub count is 2.96k I think that you are in a very good place for the channel age and amount of videos- and you'll probably continue to grow. Hyperpop, mech warefare, and nato-core are a lot more niche then pop or prog metal.
