"Katie" as in Katie Dey, who is much more talented than I could ever hope to be. Check her out.

_Okay, yeah, so I'm a big, huge liar. I did say I was going to take it easy, and I have, but this has been a song I've been working on, on and off, since August. I'm kinda' liking this new version more because it is not acoustic in the slightest, and that means it's something I can work with.

I have one minute of the song working like this in a way I like, and it's all just the first verse.

Back and forth, I look aroundBurlington, you’ve let me downA vagrant in my own hometownSun up and beautiful sundownAcross the lake a gorgeous frownAnd sun sets on autumn treesAnd water glows with auburn breezeBeneath the misty morning glowHere lies a town I used to know

With brickened flats and salty catsA perfect way, the eyes of mourning andBid adieu, the yearning calling forThe speckled memory of aPlace I used to seeLovely girls’ summer dressesBrown hair lasses, laced up prettyFlash her teeth and give meWitty, sweet remarks ‘bout howI rose and fell with sun and starsAnd moon abound the furthest soundsOf paths on bikes and paths on iceA northern jewel lost aboutThe flatland’s pockets, do withoutMy old and deadThe place I wish to rest my headShould she come back, old decrepitQuiet howls, a night so fetidBorn again, afar from meBurlington, she used to be;Burlington, come back to me.

Nevermore, I look aroundBurlington, you’ve let me down!I can't afford a home right nowI miss the sun, both up and downAcross the lake my gorgeous townThe sun will set, on autumn leavesWhere water glows, we all must leaveBeneath the tree of my first kissWho would have thought I would have missed?

The brickened flats and mountain catsMy perfect city, I'm in mourningNever could I bid adieuAll my mem'ries, back to you!

Me, in summer dressesBlack haired girl, looks her bestestFlashed my teeth, a pretty smileBut couldn't you have stayed awhile? When I come back, you look the sameBut the mall is gone and my school, the sameOf paths on bikes and paths on iceAre all too long and bright at night!

You lost the way, I used to seeWhen I am old,Old and deadAnd I long to rest my weary, weary, weary.... headShould you come back, where we can beJust a girl and her cityBurlington, afar from meBurlington, she used to be;Burlington, come back to me.
