I feel like I've got a lot better since I made this song. Should I, maybe, try to do it again or should I concentrate on new things?

Let the muses guide you, but you certainly have gotten even better, greatness always leaves room to grow.

I'm personally not a huge fan of remasters, I find that they usually don't meet the hype that I have for it.

Shrooom

If you're just remastering it because you think/know that you can make something better that you're proud of, go for it. But if you'd just do it for the hype of your best song but more, I'd be more hesitant.

I largely feel I'm in the same boat on this. I default to trusting the artist and her art. But the concern/thought does float around.

Charli Morgan

It would be like 80% because I know it'd do well on YouTube and 20% because I could make it sound better.

Shrooom

If it's something you want to do, I'm sure it will sound incredible.

What would you want to change?

Charli Morgan

I want it to sound better. Like better recording quality. Crisper sounds, etc. But it would fundamentally change the entire sing bc everything would be redone.

What about something more like a remix rather than a straight remaster? In my mind, remasters are like version 1.1 of a thing, whereas I think of a remix as version 2.0. Your continued mastery of your craft is nothing short of phenomenal. I think you could flip it on it's head, flex those creative muscles, and take it to the next level

Charli Morgan

I can't remix it and make it better. All I cam do is improve the audio quality.

I would say follow your heart. Your music is you, and if it's calling to be remastered, remaster it.

If you asked me if I thought the song needed it I would say no. But I think the actual answer depends more on internal factors to you than things we’d know. Now that you have the skills and experience to remaster it, you’ll always have that, and could do it whenever you like, possibly even better in the future. The temptation to go back and improve old work will always be there, but sometimes it’s better to keep moving forward. On the other hand if flexing your muscles on it inspires you and hypes you up for your other projects, maybe that’s just valuable on its own too.

I think I might t work on redoing songs that I haven't released, but think could do better, like Ma Cherie or stuff like that.

Another one of yours I only recently discovered when you posted the update!

Charli Morgan

It had so much potential but I really didn't know what I was doing when I made it.
