Tinned Fish Review: King Oscar Mackerel (Mediterranean) (Patreon)

This is a good balance between quality and price, but its biggest positive is availability—you can get this anywhere. It's flaky, it's sweet, and they're really big fillets. Like, you look at it and you see that it was definitely a fish once, which is something I like. The flakes are firm, too, so I can eat them with chopsticks. If you want to get into tinned fish, I think this is the easiest path. It's spiced heavily enough that the fishyness is subdued, but it's firm, so the texture is really quite good. The texture is my favorite thing about eating fish. It's just good fish in a can. Also, if you've never tried tinned fish, stay the fuck away from cheap brands like chicken of the sea, and don't touch sprats. Sprats aren't even sardines and the texture is off, while being just awfully fishy, imo.
