EDIT: You know what this song was missing? A lot of bass. Let's try that.

Big trigger warnings for this one. I took the song in a very different direction (again). If domestic violence is a trigger, do not listen to this.If dangerously toxic relationships are a trigger, do not listen to this.If cheating is a trigger, do not listen to this. It's not cute like in "What She Doesn't Know Won't Hurt Her." This is, idk, "I Know They Know, I Know It'll Hurt Them, and I Don't Care if it Hurts Them. In Fact, I Want it to Hurt Them."I wrote this to fuck you up. If you don't want to be fucked up, I won't blame you for giving this one a miss; I cried when I finished it._Also—on the topic of me hating everything I make—I've been working on this for a while now and I'm kinda starting to think it sounds like shit. If you don't think this is in your top 10 songs I've ever made, let me know so I can stop working on it and do something that might turn out better. It's Verse 4. Verse 4 is pissing me off and is about this close 🤏 to getting the whole song thrown out for disobedience._Thinking over it more...maybe this is fine. Maybe it's not good enough for YouTube or Spotify, but it's good enough for here. What do you think? I feel like I can't get this to where I want it or I would've done it already. I just want to move on at this point._Yeah, I think this one is going to be shelved for either a week or a year. I'm hating it entirely too much to continue working on it. Sorry, everyone. 😔I'm just not there, yet.I'll make it up to you with BTC drawing. How's that? Will you forgive me, then? I feel like I'm always hyping things up and then disappointing everybody when I can't finish them. It kinda sucks. Like feels shitty. I don't like it but I... ugh. Y'all have been here long enough, you know how I do.Again, sorry, everyone. It just ain't gonna work this time._[Verse 1]You're my satellite.Locked in orbit ‘round a moonWherever life may take me, know you'll follow me soon. You're my satellite.Locked in orbit ‘round a moon.Drifting ever further, always coming back too soonYou're my satellite.Locked in orbit ‘round a starDon't try to escape, I love you where you are[Pre-chorus 1]You're my–[Chorus 1]–Run, baby runYou won't get too farI could stomp on your heart, be you near or be far.Run, baby, runYou won't get farDon't try to leave or I'll carve up your heart.[Verse 2]You're my satelliteTethered close though you roamI lock you in place cuz I can't stand alone[Verse 3]You're my satelliteLocked in orbit ‘round my heartThough it's black and it's dead, I need yours for my art[Verse 4]This ain't a bond, it's a tether, do best do best to weather the pressure, measure the force but still stuck in my vector. Spinnin' in place, yeah, guess I caught your drag-line, guess I saw it severed and gravity snaps back, but you know I pull better.Faster than flight, yeah, but no joke, I stay clever, cold in the black, but no take-backs, I claim it like I catch 'er. Tried to break orbit? Nah, fuck that—it's you and me locked in a forever-ever-ever.Caught you like fish (hooked), got you by the lips (bitch) could toss you with my trash, got no way to fight back, got no way to hit back, fatal attraction, uh, what, hope you ain't lookin' to replace meCuz if you did, can't promise the tension won't break me 'n' maybe I turn violent, and maybe I go crazy—ya' know me—just waitin' for a reason, but the system go hazy 'n' rip through the dark when the signal's wavy.Gets wavy and we spin, yeah, the lock stay lazy (and we spin, but you call me "baby") (and we spin but your love sustains me) (and we spin but don't dare say "maybe"), love to see you try 'n' fracture the path when the force still claims me; you stay where I place thee.[Pre-chorus 2]You're my–[Chorus 2]–Run, baby runYou won't get too far.I could stomp on your heart, be you near or be far.Run, baby, runYou won't get far. You're the one that I need but stay far from my heart![Verse 5]Back to the fish, real quick, remember a song, went like "it's okay to eat fish cuz they don't have any feelings," so, make it like a fish, watch you twitch, flinch when I reel, but you don’t slip—guess you’re built for the drag, huh?Love that grip, it’s okay, you don’t feel it, right? Pressure snaps tight, but your eyes stay white, gaspin’ at the air like you pray for a bite, but the net don’t tear, so you stay in my sight.Pulse in the line, yeah, we bend, we break, but the weight still holds when the tether won’t shake, swim how you want, doesn’t matter what’s fake cuz the hook’s still buried, and you love that ache.Cold in the deep where my voice can't fade, dragged through the dark where the signals wave; you want a war? Nah, sit, obey—got nowhere to run, so just float, stay.[Bridge]So what; I'm not stableSo what, if I'm gonna' crash. So what; I'm not stableSo what, we never clash. So what; you can't handleSo what, if you're in pain!So what; my life's betterSo what if I spit in your face![Chorus 3]Run, baby run!You won't get farI warned you, I would––Be the worst one so far[Post-chorus 1]Run, baby, run! Can't change who you areI told you to run, but we can't stay apart[Verse 6]You're my satellite.Locked in orbit ‘round a moonWherever life may take me, know you'll follow me soon[Chorus 4](Run, baby run)You won't get farI warned you, I would––Be the worst one so far![Post-chorus 2](Run, baby, run)Can't change who you areI told you to run, but we can't stay apart[Verse 7]You're my satellite.Locked in orbit ‘round a moonWherever life may take me, know you'll follow 'hind me...Soon.[Outro]What you gonna' do about it? you won't do shit. you won't do a damn thing. you can't stand up for yourself. So of course I'm gonna' do whatever the fuck I want. of course I'm gonna' step on you, cheat on you, treat you like dirt. you're nothing. you're a fucking reject. a loser. a god damn punk! ... what? what!? What, you wanna' hit me? Do it. Do it!Or run away and come back.Like you always do._For my notes: Satellite v2_F4C, LN

If you want to give me a pep-talk either here or in my DMs, that is an option. Feeling kinda bummed right now because it didn't turn out how I wanted.

Oh man, that was heavy. I still think it's a great song. I really love the change-up in the back half. I think verse 4 is still great. The outro, that hit hard. I think most if not all can relate in some way or another. I especially love the take on the beep at the end of the message, with it being drawn out it felt like a heart flatlining, but we all know they'll be back and the heartbeat will return

Unexpectedly, I found my eyes watering. Must be allergies.... I think your own toxic trait is trying to worry about 'perfect' in something as subjective as art. It's always a roulette wheel out there. Sometimes: "Perfect is the enemy of good." At some point, you have to accept sending them out in the algorithm's mercy <3 You have a lot of gems you've stored away that could be an earworm waiting to capture more fans

Kaylin Valkyrie

oh no this song is feeding some of my kinks xD

Phee

"I wrote this to fuck you up." + [all the other warnings] Charli you really don't need to list so many reasons for me to listen to it, you had me at the start.

Phee

Also on a non-memey note, the song sounds really good! (well evil but in a hot cool way.)

Charli Morgan

I feel like I share a lot of kinks with people here. xD

Charli Morgan

Yesssss the beep at the end is the best thing in the whole song, imo

KaiserPodge

I admit to nothing.... ;)

I think you should keep this version. If you’re not listening to the words it’s a wonderful song which in a way is reflective of abusive relationships. The victim can’t process the trauma so they keep trying to convince themselves everything is okay and wonderful and all the abuse and problems are their fault.

I really....like this. It's an amazing song for the "Driving around at 3 am" type playlist. The gradual shift in mood as the song goes on really makes the Outro just hit you like a ton of bricks. It feels like that is what takes it from "fun caricature of toxic" to "ouch".

Charli Morgan

You'll be glad to hear I haven't given up on it. I tried something completely different last night and it sounds...okay, I suppose, but I've said that before.

Fickle

I was avoiding this one cause I'm easily hurt, but I'm gonna give it a listen and if I cry oh well.

Fickle

I'm already crying. I know how this feels, my fiance cheated on me with my cousin years ago. I'm fine now, but this hurts.

Charli Morgan

Yeah, I've been on both sides of it, so I wrote this to speak to both sides of it. I know what it is to use someone. To cheat on them. And I also know it hurts. I am not an angel. Not even close. But maybe this song means something to someone. I don't know who, but it's not supposed to make you feel better, exactly. It's more so you cna understand the other side, I guess, but who knows. I don't. Rarely do I end up writing a song with intention. They're usually written over days, and then when I start the actual composition, things have to change, and that changes how the song can be interpreted. Basically, there is no meaning to anything other than how it makes *you* feel. I. Am not. An angel. That might be the one takeaway from this. I am not. An angel.
