Did I make it better or worse?I feel like it's better from 1:42 on, but idk. What ya'll think about the first part of it?Edit: okay, so here what we gonna do: keep the first minute of draft 3 and the last two minutes of draft 4. We all good with that?

Gave it two listen throughs here and then jumped over to VLC media player to give draft 3 a listen through so I could compare same device same monitors. I hate to say it but I think draft three was overall better. Something about the baseline coming through a lot better for me. And this draft it feels like you went a little too hard on the vocal effect (or perhaps it’s just more apparent without the base to balance it) It looses the pure impact of my favorite moment in the song at “do not be afraid” Might just be me, I’m curious what others think.

Agree I like the changes in the later half. I also like the changes from 1:00ish to 1:42 as well, which you hadn’t included in your “better” zone. The descending tones throughout that bit that sort of pulse during “the place we both call home” and the lower frequency(?) distortion underlying the vocals works for me I think. They’re pretty cool. Unfortunately I also agree that I don’t love the pre-one-minute changes. The higher pitch-up and the notes that seem to come through more prominently in this version do something that puts me on edge in a negative way. Plan to listen again when driving soon, because sometimes that brings out different feelings about stuff too.

Maybe pulse isn’t the accurate term there. My vocab for this is lacking. I like it though.

Yes the higher pitch on the vocals, that’s the wording I was lacking.

I'm loving the new changes in the intro parts. It does put me on edge, but given this is the machine spirit of the IFV I think it does a good job setting up the emotional dissonance of saying goodbye. I think the post 1:42 stuff is better here. I'm enjoying everything here in this version. This feels a little more emotionally charged to me.

So listened to it some more in my car on my lunch. Through my car speakers it’s definitely better then draft 3? I definitely hear the improvement in the last 2/3 of the song. This is unusual because I’m usually a little disappointed by the way my Prius makes your music sound. Granted I’m rarely sitting still so the lack of engine noise this time probably helped. Not sure if that’s useful information for you

On the drive locks in my feelings - I like the past one minute stuff even more now. I’ve listened and loved the versions of this song enough times that I hear the key lines in my head when I get thinking too much about my own gun boat emotions.
