I’m also excited for the next one it’s going to be great!

Christopher Macias

I agree baris the stares the looks gave me ssj2 vibes and the art style was amazing at the end!

Littlepip

They definitely started drawing Goku with a more mature look in this arc! It’s incredible looking back, kid Goku, here, was older at this point than Gohan was when he fought Cell! Goku is around 14-15 here and Gohan was only 9-10!!

Alen X

Thanks for remembering my comment Baris I feel special now even tho you didn't remember my name :D I still feel special

SSG2PRO

That look Goku gave after saved Tien is awesome. It feels like kid Goku transitioning well into his adult Z self.

David Cabrera

Episodes like this show how many people are wrong about Dragon Ball being a "kid's show".

whis101

In the manga, it was a bit different. Tien never actually got to use it in the manga because the jar was already cracked when he got there. Anime clearly changed it a bit

Colton Chandler

Every time ChiChi and Ox King appeared after their introduction was filler.

Tarrence Price

Not sure why Tien didn’t just use the Solar Flare technique. Oh well, I’m really enjoying the arc!

Kyle Mccaskill

Bulma's mom has a New York Italian accent

Joshua Fletcher

Bulma was eaten by Majin Buu after being turned into chocolate

Geri91

It's hilarious to me that Drum isn't even 5 minutes old and talks about a new experience 🤣 😂

Isaac

That panel with Goku staring down King Piccolo when he arrives after saving Tien is one of my favorite panels in the series, what an entrance. I’m sure you can tell by now but this is when the series starts becoming more Z like and the tone begins to shift.

Vmichael8

Bulma Died when Majin Buu turned her into chocolate from when he came out of the hyperbolic time chamber

Gabo

Something i love about DB and DBZ is that you can tell how characters grow in height…notice how Goku looks so much older now…and Gohan grows across DBZ…and then we have Goten and Trunks…lol

The Hype

Chichi is in this episode too... Darn it anime team! Quit ruining the surprise Toriyama saved for later.

Trey

That panel of Goku standing in front of tien is the start of everything man that was so dope

The 17:44 Goku pose, I've been seeing it forever in various artworks. I always though it was from some promo poster or something like that, didn't know it was from actual episode :D

So I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate, but I think the way the Evil Containment Wave works is that it doesn't necessarily "kill" the user, but I think it just takes away a lot of their energy/life force, and I think it has a greater effect the older the user is. Maybe they actually did retcon it in Super cause Roshi did use it a few times during the tournament, but I'm wondering if it's also because Roshi has grown much stronger from the time that he used it in DB, allowing him to be able to use it more than once. Like I said, I could be totally wrong lol

When Baris told us not to go anywhere in the end, it almost sounded like he was bringing us another episode in just a short moment!

MrDragonflair

Start of the episode, car explosed after the slightest crash.. i chucked and said "tesla" 🤣

Bean W.

The amount of times I rewound the part Goku turning Drum's skull into pudding was absolutely criminal when I saw it for the first time lol

Douglas Murray

When Piccolo gave birth to Drum, he took way less time with it too, the egg came out of his mouth much easier, compared to when he gave birth to Cymbal. Piano is actually a he. In the Japanese dub, he was voiced by an old sounding guy, but for some reason in the Eng dub, he sounds like an old grandma. In my headcanon (it doesn't have to be on the wiki but I just think it would make a lot of sense), I have always had this impression that the Mafuba only kills the user when: Factor 1. the target must be stronger than the user. The stronger the target, the more energy it takes to control and hold/ move the target into the jar. Goku practiced the Mafuba wave against Turtle, of course it's not going to use much force because Turtle can't struggle much like how Zamasu struggled when F. Trunks did it. F. Trunks survived because Zamasu was not significantly stronger than F. Trunks. Mutaito and Roshi both died when attempting to seal Piccolo, regardless of success or not, because they were both weaker than Piccolo. Factor 2. the user doesn't have enough life force/ki to sustain the move In later series, most of the fighters have power level in the millions, billions and trillions. They wouldn't die because they can sustain the life draining effect of the move, but I still think anyone would die if they try to use it against someone like the Gods of Destruction. Or, if any characters during the Namek saga including pre-SS Goku use it against final form Frieza, all will die regardless of success or not because ... it's Frieza. I always believe that to be the case. Now that I'm thinking. If a strong target is asleep and isn't awake to resist the Mafuba wave, would that make the user die? A sleeping Beerus would still be no joke. The Mafuba's life draining effect is also like Tien's Tri Beam (Kikoho). Factor 1 doesn't matter here, but factor 2 still applies. That explains why Tien was able to spam it against Semi-Perfect Cell. I wonder if the Androids can use the Mafuba indefinitely to any target stronger than them.

Douglas Murray

11:21 Bulma actually did die when I think about it. Majin Buu turned most of Z crew into chocolate at the Lookout.

Douglas Murray

I agree. I also think the Mafuba draining the user life force just work similarly to Tien's tri bean (Kikoho). For someone who's unexperienced or have less life force, they would die if use once. Tien was able to spam Tri beam against Cell, showing how much life force he has at that time.

I don't think there are any hard rules. I think it's just basically one of these techniques that drain users life force and if they overexert them selves they die. The supposed retcon, can simply be attributed to us taking Roshi's explanation too literarily, perhaps he meant certain death in context of any of them attempting to seal King Piccolo, not that technique itself is a death sentence...

Philipp Weiss

We saw Rishi complete the Evil Containment Wave in super and not die. I think the wave is not a death sentence but takes a tremendous toll on the person's life force. Tien was young and well trained his body held up better. I'm sure Roshi figured something out in super to not drain himself completely. He had it planned ahead of time, I don't think he planned on suiciding in the tournament of power.

Matt Demayo

Tien should have use solar flare to blind all of them and then use the evil containment wave on piccolo
