A couple of days ago a friend and former roommate Tugrik passed away. I lived with Tug for a couple of years in the mid 90s. In many ways Tug and his friends seemed to embody the spirit of furry fandom and seemingly boundless potential that was Silicon Valley at the time.

Tugrik was and individual of surprising complexity; although at first glance he could come across as being just a happy go-lucky goofball. He would then turn around and stop you in your tracks with a bit of very profound wisdom or insight.

It was him and several others who I now consider friends who helped me get onto the internet in 90s. He accepted me as a roommate at his house even though I was between jobs, and I have many fond memories of my time living with him. I will miss him very much.

I only met him in passing a few times but he left a lasting impression. Both brilliant & just someone who you couldn’t help but be drawn to listen to. I certainly wish I knew him better because I know everyone I knew always spoke well of him who did.

Oh Jeez, I remember Tugrik. I remember seeing his character on the West Corner of the Park comic a long time ago when I was starting out in the fandom around the mid 2000's.

What a wonderful tribute. Now he can live on in the memories of all of us.
