It's the end of the working week. I've been pretty sick on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But since I did lots of work last Saturday and Sunday, I'd say it's kind of evened-out. It's been roughly a full working week. I'm steadily starting to feel better now thankfully.

Here's the update:

In one week, I've been able to animate about 5 minutes out of 25 minutes for the Dungeons & Dragons Bullshittery. While that doesn't sound like a lot, it's actually not all that dissimilar from a regular bullshittery video. It's just that this video is 2.5X larger than the usual.

It's also worth noting that (unlike other videos) this one is going to require multiple passes for each individual character in the animation. Which is indeed going to suck. But again, is entirely expected since the artist I commission is going to need time to do all the drawings in batches. It's going to be impossible to do all of this in one pass. So I'm going to need to keep coming back and forth on this one.

But what I've been doing is taking 2/8 character assets that look like this (producing a visual that looks like this).

And turning them into a much more efficient series of assets that look like this (producing a visual that looks like this). Not only does it give me much greater control over the characters movement. But it lets me automate things like blinking, eye flicker and head/shoulders to generally make the characters seem move alive. All the commissioned artist needs to do is replace those new photoshop layers.

Now, the first minor character assets have already gone over to artist. And this second character will follow shortly. I think the best plan of action, rather than slog ahead with this for 4 weeks, is to put this to one side and let the artist work, while I make a different bullshittery in the meantime.

Once I get some of the art back, I can see how it looks. Decide if this workflow is the right idea. And then make adjustments where needed. I'm also worried that if I continue with this for 4 weeks (giving non-backers another 6 weeks of silence on Youtube), they'll think my current rate of work is the new norm. Which would irk me a bit. I know most of you would probably tell me to ignore them. But whenever people start yelling that "Soviet is dead" on Youtube, despite working hard, it does wind me up somewhat :S

Therefore, next Monday I think I should start a fresh bullshittery and intentionally aim for an easier one. I know a lot of you wanted Gang Beasts or Rocket League, but I suspect those are going to be very technically complicated. Perhaps Kerbal, Puslar or We Were Here would be shorter and more efficient.

Thoughts?

Kerbal, yes, Kerbal, and more Kerbal streams xD

Ting

Kerbal.

Camo

Do Kerbal

Brian Liebeg

Would you be willing to do another Golf It video? The simplicity could make animating it easy, and the simple gameplay helps focus on interpersonal chatter surrounding the game. How can I explain it...? Space Engineers was awesome for videos but more complicated.

Cody Gerard

Personally I'd love Kerbal or Pulsar

Ashlynn Mohammed

I'm sick as well, and it started on Wednesday. YAAAYYYY, I'm sick with soviet.

MrVengeance141

In the poll, i voted for Kerbal so im happy 😊 haha animation is looking good though Womble. Will be good to see it once its done. It will have a bit if a Harmonquest sort of feel about it.

Freerk Schuett

We Were Here, I think it's time for a video with just you and Cy again (I remember a certain SWAT 4 video that was rather fun)

Camo

Maybe have a multiplayer kerbal bulshittery is that possible with the multiplayer mod for you and the guys

The Ferret

I'm a fan of Kerbal stuff and glad you're feeling better. I really like the new look too.

Camo

Also soviet doing this instead of watching pudsey 😂😂😂

SovietWomble

Oh god, I've not watched broadcast television in at least 9 years or so :S

Jeff Duvall

Definitely Kerbal or Pulsar, I wouldn’t recommend a multiplayer Kerbal because that mod is pretty finicky and, at least for me, too much work honestly :P but some pulsar multiplayer madness would be quite enjoyable.

Ashley Jackson

We were here would be good. Liven it up a bit.

ryman2300

Kerbal in particular sounds incredible! I’ve never heard of Pulsar or We Were Here, but I’m sure those would create some hilarity as well watching!

Sean Tackaberry

Would love to see a Kerbal bullshittery!

hotchurkey

I'd love to see a Kerbal bullshittery, especially if you think it'll make for an easier one!

kenny_andrew

Kerbal would be awesome to see, with how well Far Cry came out I think it would be a good choice.

Riddhe Marcenas

Throwing a vote towards We Were Here, but also throwing two votes towards resting and recouperating. Good to hear you’re starting to feel better already.

JPJones

Yeah, man. The nose aids I had in September felt like it was going away after 4-5 days then came back for an encore. Get healthy and make sure it sticks first, then my vote goes to Kerbal. Seems like that would be a good light-hearted change of pace.

David Petersen

I watched a bit of the We Were Here streams (I think I watched a bit of yours, and then a bit of Cyanide's), I think that would be a pretty good one. I'd vote for that one, maybe Pulsar second.

Peter Bang

Would love to see some Kerbal.

CeMaRiS

Kerbal had some really great moments. would love to see it in a Bullshittery

Daniel Vaughnley

Do Kerbal, it will change things up a bit and add a new flavor to your vidoes#

Daniel Vaughnley

I added a fucking hashtag to the end of that cunting comment. Shit

knosen

My vote was just a preference towards gangbeasts, since i guess it would be hillarious with you guys. I'll look forward to any kind of bullshittery ^^
