So it's currently halfway through the third week working on the DayZ standalone rant video. And editing is going well :) Almost all audio has been recorded (though I'm tempted to go back and re-do quite a few bits because I've mumbled) and I've finished the visuals for sections 1 & 2 and I'm working through 3, 4 and 5 (of a total of 12 segments).

As you can probably guess, there's no chance I'll get through the remaining 7 sections by Friday afternoon. It's taking me about 2 days to record, edit and check about 10 minutes of footage. Each segment is between 5 and 20 minutes,  so based on the rate that I'm getting through this, I reckon it'll be another two weeks of effort to finish the rest.

So I'm thinking I should probably park this to one side for the moment and get cracking making Random CSGO bullshittery part 6. And then periodically come back and finish individual segments piece-meal rather than in one big clump. Doesn't seem fair to me to put you guys through 5 weeks of no content. What are your thoughts on that?

If you're interested in seeing segments 1 & 2, I've put up a pair of draft renders here (Part 1 draft & Part 2 draft). Should give you a stronger idea of the editing style I'm going for and I'm happy to hear feedback if you have any. Naturally, MASSIVE spoiler warning in case you'd prefer to wait until its' all finished

I do think that doing a CSGO bullshittery now is a good idea as many people are wondering if you are dead. Also it allows you to reflect on the stand alone videos and make them to as high a quality as you want them and considering you have spent this long on them, it is probably a good idea to make them near enough as perfect as possible.

Tatchiaz

Well I think its a good idea to do the pieces when yoh have time and give us some bullshittery for our satisfaction. Take as long as you need with the big product. Until you think its great. Then we'll gonna love it. <3

R

Whatever you choose to do I support you.

Emil G

Yeah, i feel like this one is going to take a while, so putting it aside is probably a good idea.

I was wondering if the pause in content delivery was worth it for you as a creator. To be honest when I've seen this post the idea of jumping into another CSGO bullshittery seemed good. But then I've watched the draft of the first part. Man, it's awesome. The topic doesn't seem interesting (I don't even play DayZ for gods sake) but I loved this video - and it's still a draft. I think I can speak for the majority of people here: we will be happy with whatever you chose to do - every piece of content you make we'll take with gratitude. I'd just consider CSGO more profitable in terms of growing the channels popularity but that is for you to judge.

So i just watched your two drafts, and i absolutely loved them. The editing still was perfect, and to be honest i can't see what you are talking about when you say you are mumbling .

HeatedPillow

This is interesting concept of video in my opinion. With the amount of work that you put in - this is gonna be a good movie :) #goWomble

Tom Trustworthy

Is this series going to be mostly of you upset about how dayz is right now? Or more of how you were upset back when you played it when the alpha first started?

LazyboyLP

If you need time then take your time and the drafts are awesome! I really dont care if you continue that or make the next bulshittery either way it will be awesome :D

Noah Northern

Take as much time as you need mate, we will survive. Another CS bullshittery could buy you another two weeks of effort if needed. :)

Bearded_Beauty

I'm happy to wait for this video. Never played Arma/Dayz, but the video looks great so far.

Brilliant job :) I knew nothing of ARMA or DayZ, and this was super interesting. I can't wait to see more. Watching it, I have no idea how you've managed to do so much in the time you've had! It's brilliant. For your own mental health, perhaps starting something else may be good, unless you think that will ruin your flow/you'll go back an over analyse your work and want to change it all over again. Otherwise, do you, dude! Love your work,

This is an excellent start so far. I know you've been talking about many of these elements here and there in different streams, but you have given easy-to-digest pieces of information to fully give the audience background without losing interest. It had wit and clever bits in places that I expected and it still made me laugh. I am also glad you kept some parts of your bullshittery editing into the video (like the way the text flows, and some of the animation) as your signature in videos. You also gave bits of reference fans of yours would enjoy watching. Glad to know you do care about us (^.^). Your voice sounds a little different scripted though. Not a bad thing, but you can tell it has been carefully rehearsed so you don't sound like a rabbit forced to drink a human amount of coffee. A personal gripe I have about rant videos is ones that just look like a picture slide show like I was being lectured at a powerpoint. You tread dangerous waters, most notably in the intro video where it passes logo to logo to screen shot. You break up what you can with actual clips and moving transitions, and honestly, that's the most that can be asked for given 1)the content and style of the video in general 2) the amount of time it takes to make such a video 3) the visual exhaustion that comes from editing a 9+ minute video THAT STILL HAS FUCKING 12 PARTS. Will you be adding any interview videos from Dean Hall of the rise and follies of the mod and the standalone? That could be an interesting tidbit to hear reactions from the source than just regular interviews from articles that could potentially help the editing. As for the CS:GO bullshittery DO IT. DO IT. When you come back to do more voiceovers, it should make it feel fresh again. As always, my money is currently being well spent on your good work!

Marcus

I really like these, my only nit pick so far is some of the text/meme jokes flash a little fast to catch on the first walk though. Overall your storytelling technique, voice and passion for the subject matter make this a fun and informative video to watch keep it up.

Cobalt

I think the drafts are looking great. I like the pacing, personally, and also think there's a good mix of video game imagery, related imagery (e.g. Steam or a blog article) and other random crap. I do think you should replace some of the static imagery with video, though, because it will alleviate the slideshow feeling to a large degree. I don't play DayZ or Arma, but I feel like the dialog you've written displays a high level of understanding - you sound like you know what you're talking about.

Dyerz

I supported you on the misguided notion that there would be more arse in your videos. Please add more and I will name my second child after you.

Sevenmine

Probably not speaking for everyone here but I can wait another week or two just to see this whole thing. First drafts sound and look fun so I think carry on. I have patience.

CDPaul

I'm fine with you taking the time to complete the entire video, no need to feel the pressure to work on another Bullshittery right away. On another note, the content and the style is excellent, although you are talking at the same inflection and speed most of time. Varying this will allow people to more readily absorb the information and changing up the pace/adding occasional pauses will give added punch to your jokes/visual gags. All in all, I look forward to seeing the whole thing.

HankJMoody

Looks brilliant so far, Womble!

Taylor_DFW

Definitely ready for more! Informative and funny still. Work on whatever projects you like though. Don't worry about the timetable. We support you for doing what you enjoy. Happy Womble = Happy fans.

TehBlackWolf

Loved it, as far as the length, quality over quantity, you do you, we'll follow.

Jonathan Ledoux

Seriously good so far, enjoy your tone and the clear passion you have for the topic.

Elantil

Absolutely loved it. The bit about Early Access reminds me of Jim Sterling (not in a bad way), mainly because the points raised are similar. But definitely no pressure to finish it within the next week or anything. If it takes time, it takes time, same with the bullshittery video.

Maestro

Womble! You magnificent bastard.. Part 1 draft works really well, no big gripe there. But the music in the beginning of part two? Yes I know, but no, Doesn't quite fit the narration. Sorry. When you listen to it after a round of drunken CSGO and a subsequent hangover you'll know what I mean. Other than that: See first statement. God damnit, I'd venture that video will again boost Arma 2 sales.

Maestro

Oh right, you were asking a question.. err.. don't release it in an episodic fashion, rather work on it when you've got the time. Dayz Standalone is not an immediate issue, so if you release two more bullshittery episodes while you sporadically work on the dayz thing, that should work. And I say "should", because doing it like that will almost certainly piss you off to no ends time management wise. Sorry. :P I know from experience that splitting work between two projects detracts from both, so you'll have to see for yourself if you can keep your own standards up doing it that way. Meaning: Don't do something that detracts heavily from the quality that you want to achieve. Lol, that didn't help. Have fun, looking forward to whatever you do. ^^

Domille's Wondrous Works

Womble, the videos are fantastic! I am not even a huge fan of either DayZ or Arma, yet these videos are still very engaging, entertaining and enlightening.

Karl Pedersen

Suggestions, please put some examples in the form of gameplay so people who dont play DayZ can understand what you are talking about. Maybe even some experiences that you have had in the game. Make sure you do mention future updates
