So I've finished going through the footage for Far Cry 3. And what I've done is cut the 9 streams into about 150 individual clips on three timelines:

a.) Narrative & comedy (like Alien Isolation, Outlast, etc)

b.) Comedy only (Random Bullshittery)

c.) Stock footage of combat moments (which made me realise something. I'll explain in a minute).

In terms of suitability, this is what I've found:

Narrative-heavy video - Not very suitable due to the nature of Far Cry's story. The trouble is, the player isn't given much agency when it comes to discovering developments and narrating them. In most cases the player is moving from one point to another in order to trigger cutscenes, clearing pirate bases on the way. Any narrative-heavy video would just be the Far Cry 3 cutscenes with a British man talking over them. Not all that entertaining. I don't think I should go for this.

Comedy only video - Numerous silly scenarios happened during the playthrough. Mostly due to AI glitches, plot silliness with mushrooms, or my lack of driving ability. I'm fairly confident there's enough here for a bullshittery, though it'll probably be shorter then 10 minutes. Hoping to take a stab at it if you like?

The something else - So while collecting lots of combat footage for possible use, I noticed something interesting. It shows a gradual escalation in the complexity of kills as I learnt how to play Far Cry 3 and unlock various skill sets, which in turn mirrors the main characters descent into a killer as part of his character arc. Which got me thinking. I was reminded of Paul Marino's I'm Still Seeing Breen video from years ago (incidently something I'm keen to pay homage to at some point) which shows the entire plot of Half Life 2 in a well-edited escalating montage. I'm considering doing the same treatment to Far Cry 3, mixing in the cutscenes and creating something different from my usual format, but hopefully quite interesting to watch. I won't do that right now though, I'll edit up the funny moments first and see what I come up with. But if I did end up doing it, would that be the sort of thing you'd be willing to have me make in my work hours? Or would you rather I save it for my free time? I'm planning on making it anyway, but would rather not take the piss out of your patronage. I work to your pleasure after all :) If you have a moment to answer yay or nay here I'd appreciate it.

I'll keep cutting the footage and give the next update on Friday. I'll see what I have by then. Thank you as always for your support.

I say Yay to the Paul Marino thing

Do whatever the fuck you please, as long as there is a video at the end of it. That's why we're here, isn't it?

So... If I understand correctly - option c.) is not a random bullshittery but more like a unforseen skillshittery? would destroy your reputation but why not?

J

While I would love to see what you come up with for c), I get the feeling that most of your patrons will also be fine with that. I also get the feeling, however, that most of your more casual viewers might be confused or put off by it.

CeMaRiS

honestly number 3 sounds like some amazing idea.

So if I understand correctly there will definitely be a bullshittery and there will definitely be a "something else-combat thingy". I think it would be okay to do this as an official video made during work hours, I frankly don't really care :P and I have no freaking clue what far cry is about sooooooooo... basically don't really give a shit, I can't really imagine a bad womble video. cheers!

KreepyKrawly

Go with the skill tree. Bullshitteries are great, but don't excite the brain cells.

Petr Novák

Come one, dont say you work to our pleasure.. its our pleasure watching you work!

In regard to option C, I'm Still seeing Breen is like a music video on Kerrang! good IMO but not your style and could be quite an odd shift to the audience. I don't think it is a bad idea for you to do something different like this but if you did it as a slow building montage of "the characters descent into a serial killer", it would be better to use an instrumental song like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6OtF7daIPM overlayed with key character development moments of cutscenes/audio. Basically, a synopsis of the story, I am very aware that what I described sounds like a movie trailer but I think that will be overcome by telling essentially the entire story rather than teasing it. Maybe this is already what you had in mind and if so awesome or I could be wrong and people want a music video type change on your channel. Just my 2 cents on the matter is all.

What about "Lack of Narrative-heavy video", Can't say I remember much of Farcry 3 but lack of narrative somehow feels right. Comedy only video, that might be interesting. Reminds me of the Rust videos with glitches and the WTF is going on here reaction, so yeah glitches and Womble actions might be good. If not there's always the possiblity for Ubi jokes. The something else, eh rather see more of the DayZ Soap Box being released. Though I have to agree with Petr Novák, I don't sub for what I want but I do sub to see more of your creativity.

2026-09-14 12:00 I love to see something but Bullshittery episodes. However, people outside Patreon who don't know the reasons behind the experiment might be disappointed and blame you (even they don't donate to you to do it.) So, I guess you might want to release this non-bullshittery first and then within one or two week, release the Bullshittery. Anyone who just wants to see Bullshittery only would not be disappointed.

interesting idea for option 3, and we trust you to make it entertaining.. you did mention that you only played it through to halfway though - does it make sense to leave the character arc there, or maybe worth finishing the game first? (I haven't completed it either, so have no idea where the story goes, but worth a thought..)

Kenneth Shivler

Trust your gut. I say yay and I think option #3 sounds incredible, but maybe save it for another stream or Youtube account. You have a lot of fans that just want the hilarity and back and forth between you and Cyanide unfortunately. Creatively it sounds amazing, but chimps want bananas not Duck à l'orange; the unfortunate price of celebrity I'm afraid.

Daniel

I think you should aim for something new, I would love to see something different or new!

Tjark Ole Sievertsen

I think the third choise is quite interesting. It's something new and I would love to see it.
