Hi all,

I'll tell you straight: I don't have an actual sneak peek for this round of bennies. Turns out I am between books AND we're trying to move into a new house this week... yeah, in the middle of a plague. We closed on our home on March 2nd.

Timing, huh?

Oh hey, good news: I HAVE A CONTRACT WITH AUDIBLE FOR GOOD INTENTIONS IV. We don't have a firm release date yet, but the likely target is mid-May!

It may be a month or two before I'm into "excerpts from the next novel" territory again. That said, I AM working on stuff, and I am committed to providing sneak peek stuff. So on that note, I've been considering what sort of content I could provide, and figured I might poll for a sense of what has the most interest?

The plan is still to move to the next Tanner novel, though I will admit another Wandering Monsters book *might* jump in line if I think I can produce it super fast. The odds are low on that but it's possible. We live in a world of madness anyway.

Beyond that, and perhaps more importantly: How are you doing with all of this going on?

This might seem like a silly question when I'm the one YOU are supporting on Patreon, but: is anyone already in danger of drowning? Or in a spot where a little help would mean a lot? I can't come to your house to help, obviously, but I wanted to ask. We're *all* going to have to be ready to help each other through this mess.

Turns out this Patreon has meant a LOT to me over the last year. It wasn't a big year for earnings for me. Yeah, I know I mentioned buying a house at the top of this post, and in Seattle no less--but I'm not sure it would've happened without this site and your support. Thank you for that. If I can look out for my supporters somehow, I'd like to know.

Anyway. Poll! What would you like to see in the next couple of Patreon bennies?

My wife and I both work in MGM casinos, and they just closed all of them. I discovered, on the news no less, that we both had been laid off yesterday. She works directly for MGM, so she's getting paid for another two weeks, but I don't. I don't think I'm getting any severance pay. I have no idea what my insurance situation is going to look like. My wife and I are both on my insurance because MGM has a policy of not covering a spouse if they're offered insurance through their work. So even though MGM is covering Insurance until the end of June for all of its employees, that doesn't actually help my wife and me. The good news: I have the same things, and my wife won a sizable cash prize recently. That should allow us to weather the storm for at least a couple of months. But if the casinos don't open in May, I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't have any children, and my wife and I are pretty good at paring down our expenses to the bare minimum, so we should make it through this okay.

I'm a Good Intentions fan. Of course I picked the first option. Just trying to bottle and shed the mist of paralyzing fear as we lock in place until they declare it safe to open for business again. Keep us posted on the negotiations with Tess Irondale for the narration.

Working nights at a Hotel during this has been kinda wild. Its supposed to be our busy season, and I've seen it drop to about 25% occupancy which is unheard of. My pops and brother are working from home for the foreseeable time, Glad they're in positions that allow them to do that! I'll say the audio books of your work have been life savers both while I'm on shift and on the home front, My Dad, Brother, and I both LOVE PMF. I honestly should be sleeping before my next shift but heard through the wall Tanner at MA training on what I believe is my Dad's 5th listen through the series as it is? Regardless, we're gonna keep our heads up and keep on trucking through. Hope that the move in is going well too on your end!

Thanks for asking, Elliott. Social distancing aside, it doesn't take much to reach out and let people around us know that we care. If more people did that, there'd be less fear and hoarding. Truth be told, I'd been hoping you'd throw us a bone and maybe release a bit more of Past Due. Lord knows we could all use a bit of distraction. Still, I acknowledge the pressure some of us have put on you these last few weeks to release it early on Patreon. If you're really not comfortable with it, don't feel bad for saying no. Having fans clamor for an earlier release speaks to your skill, not stinginess.

I enjoy Good Intentions slightly more than Poor Man's Fight.. .but Paranormal Seattle isn't nearly as fascinating a setting as Tanner's galaxy. Maybe because I'm a local? Speaking for others like us in locked-down WA state, please, if it's possible, release the novel so we have some thing to read while we're cooped up. Admittedly, I don't know the pros/cons of waiting for the audible to be ready, but it sounds like it won't be fast.

All of the above, for the Poll, though my top choice is Poor Man's Fight stuff. I'm doing ok, though certainly worried. I'm lucky in that my husband and I can both work from home and have the finances to buy a couple of weeks supplies without it being a stretch, but on the other hand, I'm at high risk of complications if I catch it, and have a lot of other people who I'm worried about and can't do much to help. :(

Awesome news on getting the audiobook deal signed! It made my week. Thank you for caring so much about your fans! Congrats on the new house sorry you have to move in this mess :( I am safe for the time being I have been lucky in that I work from home normally so I am already setup to ride out the storm. Planning on spending the next month or two at home and avoiding people.

I'm a fan of all 3; that said I feel it's time for a PMF story. Just my 2cents.

Sorry, hit the enter key accidentally. As to a release date, I can't wait! But like Elliott said, a deal is a deal. Regarding the virus mess, my wife and I are in the lucky category in that we can both work from home; trying to do that with a 6 year old and a 1 year old is .... interesting! In this mass hysteria, my biggest concern is finding enough baby food to go feed the little one week to week. I'm an old fan of Heinlein and being able to watch out for yourself... yes! that's good... but you need to help each other out too. Not everyone can watch out for themselves despite their best efforts. Seriously! hoarding enough hand sanitizer to last to the end of times and/or trying to sell it at a huge profit is despicable. Or toilet paper. Or...

"What would you like to see in the next couple of Patreon bennies?" Frankly, I must admit that your Patreon is on my short list of ones to stop contributing to. The reason is that compared to most other authors here on Patreon, you provide very, very little. Most of the other authors on my Patreon list will provide advance book chapters, some every week, some even more often. Your "teaser posts" are a poor imitation of things like that. While I do like your short story posts, the fact that you only post at most twice a month makes it almost not worth my time. So, if I had to answer your question truthfully, I would say that if you really want to give us decent value, you should be posting a lot more regularly (at a minimum once a week) and that you should consider posting advance chapters from unreleased books. Sorry if that seems a bit harsh, but like I said, compared to other authors I subscribe to here, your content is by far the least. (Ok, there was one other author I had subscribed to, but I finally canceled my subscription to him when he didn't release anything here for almost 6 full months. You're at least slightly better than that.)
