Sweet Owl

Did I miss 4x8 somewhere?

Vera S

Hey I missed it as well, if you go to the playlist it is there, it's just in the 5 dollar tier instead of the 3 dollar tier. I just upgraded for the extra few euros because I wanted to watch it, but yeah hope that helps! :)

I don't think Rogers is haunted by Eleanor knitting because he didn't see her. He did see her very clearly, knew how smart she was (he recognizes it over and over again in season 3), and that's why he fell in love with her. He could rely on her, on her knowledge, and she was a real partner to him in a way his previous wife wasn't. I think it's a manifestation of his guilt, in forcing her to play that role she hated for the last few months of her life, and for going to Spain. I love the conversations in this show. There's one (and only one, which is very rare in TV) conversation I wish had happened and I felt was missing, and it would be Madi asking Eleanor how she can support a regime that would see the woman she used to see as a sister be put back in chains. I wish we'd gotten that conversation. Raising my glass to Mr. DeGroot, he was a real one. No spoilers for the last episode, but the ending is very, very good. You'll enjoy it. There are very few shows that I would say have perfect (or near perfect) endings, and this is one of them. The show didn't get canceled, it just ended. They didn't need anymore to tell the story that leads into Treasure Island.

I disagree about Rogers seeing her as a real partner. We saw it demonstrated more than once. Take the way that he deliberately misled her about his own violence. He knows everything terrible that Eleanor has done. She has literally bared herself to him in every way possible. But when he told her the story about his brother, he intentionally did not tell her what that moment drove him to do. How it led to him tortuously killing basically an entire crew. And when he left Nassau back in the third episode of this season, he didn't tell her that he intended to do such a similar thing to that crew. And the conversation he has with Berringer about this highlights that fact- it has very "don't need to worry her pretty little head about it" vibes. And of course that's not even getting into how he responded to her message via Mrs. Hudson. Even after Eleanor did everything possible to make it clear to him what she wanted and was trying to do...he refused to believe it, refused to listen, and brought *her literal worst fear* down on her head, and it's what got her killed. Like, Eleanor being afraid of Spain coming to raid Nassau again is one of her most consistent character traits. It's something she talked about with characters like Miranda, who she didn't even like. There's a 0% chance that Rogers didn't know about it, that she hadn't spoken with him about it as well. Spain raiding Nassau was the thing she was most afraid of: it's how she lost her mother, when she thought Madi died too, and the aftermath left her abandoned by her father. Rogers, without thought of the consequences, brought the thing she fears most, the thing that started her trauma...to the island where she was. There's more I could get into too, but all of that points to him not truly understanding her. And moreover, deliberately misleading Eleanor about the kind of man he really was, after she had been nothing but honest with him about her own sins. That's not a true partnership, not at all.

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

I love that people who have only watched the show are hoping for Silvers backstory the whole time. But people who read Treasure Island understand that this show IS Silvers backstory lol
