I mean at the end of season 2 flint and eleanor were planning together for reconciliation and it was flint (for good reason) who stopped being for reconciliation. I am more on flint’s side but eleanor didn’t really change sides, flint did But I do understand your feelings towards eleanor. Personally, she’s probably my least favorite among the main characters, but I find myself defending her sometimes because I feel like her character is very misunderstood and I feel like I understand her a little more each time I rewatch the show, compared to the first time I watched it where I just did not like her

I think the thing with Eleanor and her dad is that she lost him at a point when it seemed like they were finally starting to have an actual relationship. If it had happened earlier I think her reaction to his death would have been quite different. As is, he had not only come to her and said he wished to help her, that he was proud of her, and etc. But we also saw the only moment of actual intimacy we have seen between them: they stood on the balcony and she put her head on his shoulder, and it seemed as if he were genuinely embracing her. Did I buy it? No. Do I think Vane is right when he says that Richard Guthrie tried to trade his life for Eleanor's? Yes. But love from her father was something Eleanor wanted her entire life, and something she never got. For one night it seemed like she was finally going to get it...and then Vane killed him. And she had months to stew over it in a dark cell while also narrowly avoiding death herself. Deep down she probably knows the truth, but Vane killing her dad also makes it so that she can never discover that truth for herself. She's just left with the last moment they shared together, where he showed her the only physical affection from him she has probably ever gotten.
