Here's a sneak preview of a future Sly Flourish YouTube Video: The Most Important D&D Game.

If the video is marked private, that means I've queued it up for general release and it'll be back up soon.

Enjoy!

Prep for the trees and the forest will grow

The Anti-Tourist Trap

I completely agree with this, but it can be difficult for me to stay focused on the present game. Often, the campaign I want to run is the next one, not my current game. It helps me to spend at least some time coming up with material for campaigns I may never run. At least it gives some of those ideas an outlet, and I can let them go a little. Even in my current game, I get excited by a new idea and I can't wait to introduce it. I do prep each game (usually using your Lazy DM steps), so I don't completely ignore my present game. However, those new ideas infuse themselves into the present game, and I end up wishing while running the game that it were more simple, not more complex. I find that I add too much complexity, and then I get a little worn out juggling all the aspects of what's going on in my games. It's a problem.

So well said. What matters is the fun we have playing this game. This is game is so great because in the end, we are totally in charge of the fun we have. The rules and drama revolving around other people's interpretations of those rules doesn't have to have any say in your experience unless you let them.

Nice, Mike. Helpful as always! I got so lost in lore!

Agreed. I sometimes feel I need to focus less on the future, and more on what is going to happen next game.
