It’s very tragic that Adeline couldn’t quite be reached with Helene’s comfort… …but I think she made some progress. Think this will be a “get’s worse before it gets better”, sort of thing.

It just dawned on me that when Adeline says "That chance meant everything to me" it can be interpreted as what just happened on the scene. What she's really talking about is what happened way back then in her backstory from issue 4.
