Song Reaction: Joker and the Queen - Ed Sheeran ft TAYLOR SWIFT

Chat with us on twitter - @chatsandreacts Hello and welcome to this weird crevasse of the internet where we get really excited about music (particularly Taylor Swift) and break down our favourtie albums and songs. Our aim with these videos is to share our love for music and also share context and understanding around the songs, by highlighting breaking down the lyrics, melodies and production. We are so happy to have created this little community that is just as unhinged as us when it comes to music 🤪

You put this out awhile ago ---- at the end of the video you're discussing Speak Now . There actually was one song on Speak Now with a co-writer. It was on the Deluxe version (which might be different in Australia). track 16. "If This Was a Movie" (writers: Swift, Martin Johnson)

Yuli

Ah yay!!! Anyone know if there’s a way to get patreon notifications? 😅

mieke

The music video is offensive, I mean bringing back the children from the Everything Has Changed video? I‘m still not over that

Anna Agafonova

I love your interpretation of the song!! Mine is slightly different, I imagine this song as a story of two lost people who understand each other because they both have somebody in their life who supports them unconditionally. For me it's so romantic to imagine it's Ed signing to his wife and Taylor signing to Joe, both taking the role of the Joker, while their loved ones are their Queen and King 💖

Ethan Nguyen

U guys should put uncut and unedited reactions on here like just completely raw. We don’t care how long it is‼️

MarkH

Forgive me for saying this, but honestly I don't think Ed could have come up with the lyric "close to my foolproof vest". Also "saw through all my tells". Ed's great, but those are Taylor-level lyrics!

Jessica Nicole

Yes!!!! I was really hoping you guys would react to the mv as well but it probably wasn’t out at the time of filming :((((( buttttt this video was so good!!!

MarkH

Also, I think Ed sees himself as the Joker. I mean, he is no one's idea of a leading man. He is short, kind of chubby, and red-haired (which I would see as a good thing, but I understand in England there is still some "ginger" prejudice). Also, he is a joker, in the sense of making practical jokes. He probably wonders what the hell his wife is doing with him, in his darker moments. So in some ways I think Taylor's lyrics about what he thinks a king is might actually be a bit pointed--"wake up, Ed, it is not all about gold, a palace, and diamond rings--you're a superstar".

Dina

love that!!

Dina

I have listened to the album for a while now, and this song stuck out to me as a favourite so I freeeaked when the rumours about TS featuring started, and imagine how I freeeaked when the lyrics changed, ooooh my! loooove it

Ava Jeffs

yes please breakdown the red vault tracks! I’d love to see your thoughts on forever winter and better man (all of the red vault songs are superior but those two just pull at my heartstrings)

Ana Joe 🌻

I cannot wait to see how you two react to the mv because um offensive!!! I loved watching this! 🧡🧡🧡

Lea

Yes if you click on your account and go to the settings you can turn on the notifications :)

Simple Ellements

Yes please break down the Red vault tracks!! Also yes to the breakdown of the Fearless vault tracks.

Johanna M

I waited to listen to this Taylor-Ed collab until your reaction and it was so worth it! I agree - Taylor elevated that song so much! Can't wait to watch the MV with you on here 🤍

Monica McCall

Loved this 💞💞 does anyone else get MAJOR Long Live vibes from this song?? Especially the MV

Prochos Studio

i cannot rest at night knowing that this woman could announce the next re-recording at any given moment 😮‍💨 my heart is never steady

Sarah Sandell

Loved this song so much💕🥰 Been waiting to listen to it so I could react together with you🙏🏻 And also, I saw Bonnies comment about not having the footage for atw short film BUT could you guys do like a ”watch party”? Maybe break down the film and discuss it?🥰🥰

Jenna FitzGerald

anyone else get Love Live vibes, too? “We are the kings and the queens, you traded your baseball cap for a crown”

Monica McCall

YES! I said the same thing! And in the MV the confetti & the lyrics "it was the end of a decade but the start of an age".. sooo many references

Jenna FitzGerald

Yes, Monica! And omg “confetti falls to the ground, may these memories break our fall”!!!

Courtney A

I'm so here for y'all going back and breaking down the Fearless vault tracks after Red vault tracks! And any rankings of songs, albums, or album song rankings. I'm here for anything y'all do!

Anna Miotello

Congrats on your patreon success already! I'm so happy for you two. :D I loved this song too. It's sounds like a lullaby, so peaceful and sweet. And Taylor's voice sounds SO. GOOD. I love that she has been singing more lower notes, it's more unexpected since her voice used to be quite high. Last thing - today I was listening to a Spotify playlist and Enchanted came on. I got so pumped and sang my heart out (not sure my neighbours appreciated my performance). I'm so excited for the Speak Now rerecordings!!!!! it's seems pretty surreal that we are getting to relieve yet another era. She already spoiled us so much with RED.

chatsandreacts

Aw i love when you guys wait and listen with us! and yes that's a great idea we will do that for patrons 🥰

Zoe Bakon

Omg please do a breakdown of the vault tracks of both and an updated ranking!!

Joe Weaver

You got a big boost in people here in the last day or so. Congrats!! You both deserve it for the content you provide. Nice to see the familiar backdrop again!

Joe Weaver

Music videos! Obviously you don't need to do them all but if you wanted to breakdown, say, Blank Space or Delicate or whatever. I'd be into that!

Shawn carni

You two are the cutest- I LOVE this . I think I would watch anything TS related that you do. ❤️👑

Jonah

If you are up to it it would be awesome if you could breakdown both the red and fearless vault tracks

Jonah

Also, when all the re-recordings are done, it would be interesting to rank all the vault track against each other, and maybe argue which ones should have made the original cut👀

Joe Weaver

And if you are adding a Vault track, you have to chop something!

Park Aishah

Have to change my tier just for this... was offensive, but this is for illegal to superior tiers. but worth it.

Andrea

I would love to watch the reaction to all too well short film now that you can post it here! That would be amazing and maybe a breakdown of the video 😊

Richard

You didn't react to the video. Why?

Amy Vega

Love how you guys break down the lyrics so well! Also, I definitely think Debut will be the last re-recording because ending the re-record era with her first album is just so fitting.

Wayne Tucker

They will be and this will be exclusive to Patreon - out soon

Halley

Have you guys ever thought about doing any Lana Del Rey album breakdowns?

Madeline

Can you react to the sour Film by Olivia Rodrigo? Out March 25 on Disney plus :)

Megan Nicole

Listening to Rep at the moment and Call It What You Want is playing.....that line "All the jokers dressin' up as kings" !!!!

Jonah

I can’t directly reply to you Joseph, but that would be really cool and chaotic to do that😈

MarkH

So much Taylor gossip the last two days; Jake and Tom return like zombies from the grave, and then more unsupported Joe and Taylor engagement claims. And Kanye flailing around. Hope Taylor is ignoring it all.

Joe Weaver

Not that I hadn't heard that before but I did the same thing the other day! It stuck out more after having this song.

Mark Barnwell

I enjoyed the song. Just good stuff. For you both, as a dad, I have to think there are two very proud dads in Australia who are so proud of you.
