If you don't know Maisie is a smaller artist that is signed to Ed Sheeran's label and a massive fan of Taylor Swift. She really impressed us with her song writing and I hope you guys listen along with us to discover this new album if you don't already love it!

I finally got to this video! I listened to the album for the first time last night, and then watched your reaction. I loved this album so much. I understand what you guys are talking about in the production, but it didnā€™t take away too much for me. My favorites right now are John Hughes Movie, Outdoor Pool, Love Him I donā€™t, Psycho, Boy, Villain, Elvis Song, Volcano, and Tough Act. But I liked every single one!

My best friend showed me Maisie's music a few years ago when she was basically just taking off so it's definitely been fun following her music and finally hearing your opinionsā¤ļø!! My favorites are definitely 'Love Him I Don't' and 'Villian' , the way she switches it up in the last chorus of love him i don't to her now speaking directly to him saying 'loving you hurts and i loved you first....' BROKE ME. Really excited to see what she does in the coming years as you girls say! ā¤ļø

YES i completely agree with you Bonnie when you said Maisies sound isn't one of your favorites but her lyricism is enough to make you fall in love ! since we have the same thoughts on that I once again am saying you should react to This is What it Feels Like by Gracie Abrams because the lyricism is amazing AND the production is very Folklore (a lot of it is produced by Aaron so that makes sense). Aaaah perfect way to start the morning!! I watched the first half before going to work and loved seeing you guys react to Maisie šŸ’› I have been following her for a couple of months now and I reeeally like her vibe. She is also super quirky and funny on TikTok. I completely agree that some of the songs are over produced, but her lyricism is amazing and you can really feel Taylor's influence in her music! My personal favorites in her overall collection: Cate's brother, I'm trying (not friends) and Psycho, because I do like her upbeat feel combined with the unhinged lyrics! Given the comments though, I want to check out her EP "Dressed too nice for a jacket". Also, I hope to see her live in London next spring šŸ„°

this was super interesting because I hadn't heard a single song from this album before watching the video. On first listen, I appreciate the lyrics but overall I didn't like the production and didn't feel captivated by any of the melodies. But maybe I just need to relisten to it on my own. By the way, yesterday I found a recording of Taylor's talk at the TRIBECA film festival and it was super interesting. :) I think it's definitely worth a watch.

She has also released a new version of Cate's Brother with Matt Maltese (his song "even if its a lie" is so superior btw, makes me bawl, would recommend) so that might be cool to react to as well! It is a bit slower, more acoustic, and just beautiful so would love to hear your opinion on that as I think I might actually like it more than the original :0. Some of her earlier songs are more acoustic based - really love Architecture, Personal Best (also about her sister) and Take Care of Yourself - you should give those a listen!! The album isn't my go to type of sound, and I do agree with you on the production, but like you guys the songwriting really pulled me in and I love how she sounds. Some songs had to grow on me sonically.

Never gave Maisie a chance until this postā€¦. Was definitely listening to Iā€™m trying (not friends) on the way to work today! I think you guys would like Julia Michaels. Sheā€™s also a singer songwriter, sheā€™s written songs for a bunch of people. Sheā€™s not in the Taylor universe per say, but sheā€™s friends with Selena Gomez and has a song with her! So good! I recommend ā€œwhat a timeā€ duet with Niall horan, also she did a duet version of ā€œlie to meā€ with 5sos.

Oh wow! I would 100% love a video about each Lover diary. I've never been able to get a hold of one. I had never listened to this album before so it was really interesting going through it with you for the first time. I don't think I really clicked with it personally. Some of the melodies were really nice, but the production and the style of writing wasn't for me, personally. I think I liked Love Him I don't best, out of everything.

Based on what you guys thought of this I think you would be obsessed with "this is what it feels like" by Gracie Abrams! The writing is fantastic but the production is a lot more varied than this one. Plus a few of the most superior songs were produced with Aaron Dessner which is offensive. I love that there are so many swifties becoming great songwriters, the impact taylor has is truly unmatched.

Ahhhh I am so excited!!! I was just thinking today that ā€œI need Bonny and Emily to react to Maisieeeeā€ and then I got the YouTube notifications so I came to Patreon I saw this was uploaded and I was like yesssss!!! Haha I have never stanned an artist as fast as I did Maisie. I listened to the album one time with no prior knowledge of her, found her on tiktok, and immediately after the first Listen bought the vinyl and concert tickets (and the show was amazing!! She covered back to December at my show!) but I didnā€™t listen to anything except this album for the next few months after my first listen in January of this year. I personally love the production on this album but Iā€™m obsessed with electronic production personally as a producer myself for my own music - working on finishing producing, mixing, and mastering my own first self written album currently! But I loved her production style actually and equally love her stripped back songs. Initially, songwriting wise, hollow was my favorite. That was when I was like this girl is a SONG šŸ‘šŸ» WRITER šŸ‘šŸ» but now my favorite is tough act I think or maybe Elvis song which had to grow on me. But I am also obsessed with villain, you signed up for this, John Hughes movie, and psycho though honestly I love the whole album soooo so so so much. and I am currently 34 minutes in and you all just said if we know the album well to comment what we think you will like and based on song writing and liking stripped back songs, I think you will both LOVE hollow and tough act! Aside from this album Iā€™ve seen lots of people mention architecture, favorite ex, and details but I have to say one of her older songs that impressed me the most is Worst of You! I constantly am like howwwww did she write that so well that young??? So now I have finished this and I will say volcano took quite a while to grow on me as well but now I am obsessed with it. Itā€™s actually very deep, she wrote about it being about someone never having to face the consequences of their actions and a womanā€™s tendency to say nothing when the world says nothing first. It makes you analyze situations where you feel wronged or something happened to you, but no one said anything so you wonder about the validity of it as no one stands up for you and if just really gets me at ā€œand the silence, when you stood there. You just stood thereā€ and I just imagine her looking at friends or a crowd or his friends or whoever it was who all stood by and let whatever it was happen to her. No one said anything so neither did she because why make a big deal if no one else saw it? I love it now and the melody of the chorus grew on me a lot, I didnā€™t get super hooked at first but now itā€™s stuck in my head a lot! Loved you all loving boy and villain and psycho!! The story telling in outdoor pool is also so good. Sheā€™s so good and so young and I canā€™t wait to watch where she goes ā¤ļø

Oh, I loved the moment early on here where you came to the realization, "wow, we're old!" Which of course you aren't compared to the rest of the world but I totally get as someone a little bit older than both of you (I'll be 35 in a couple of weeks). Dua Lipa sampled a song from 1997 for Love Again & I recognized the original. Those are the moments when you start to feel old! Ohhhhh...read the Lover diaries! Storytime with Bonny & Em! What's so hard about getting to know new artists is that to really know an album you have to listen to it quite a bit. But in order for you to do that, the first listen has to do enough. Which is probably why it's so hard to breakthrough in the music industry. I mean I'll give anything new Taylor does the benefit of the doubt even if I'm kinda indifferent on first listen just cause she's earned that trust. My point...there's some songs I really liked on this album of Maisie's. I think I like the first half more than the second. But as a debut album, it seems pretty good. I mean I don't love everything on Taylor's debut album. I think it's probably 9th out of 9 if you had everyone rank their faves & average it out. So you just have to grade these differently than someone on their 5th or 10th album. It's an impressive start for her for sure. (Finished watching reaction video) šŸ™‚
