one of the main reasons i love BBC radio 1 versions is that they’re always live and it’s about the music first and foremost. i feel like this might also be why they’ve all dressed in black - we do that in orchestras because the performers aren’t the focus, the art is. so it’s really special that they did this i think 💜💙

I had a moment like that with The Archer a few months ago. It‘s so well-written. It really captures the agony of a fear of intimacy - the way you’re sabotaging good things to somehow avoid getting hurt and just end up feeling awful because of it 🥲 Feel you, Bonny!

The Archer is probably my least favorite Track 5 & yet whenever I watch one of the live performances...I still love it. That's the magic of Taylor Swift! ❤️ I love this idea to go back to Lover. Only wish we had more songs to watch her sing live. Although I doubt I'd survive Cruel Summer live so maybe it's for the best.

I am totally down with Bonnie's theory that in fact every Taylor Swift song will have its day as the best song I have ever heard. I have a bizarre algorithm for listening to Taylor's songs, and right now It's Nice to Have a Friend is one of the songs that is up. Let me tell you, it is the best song I have ever heard. It took maybe 10 days of it being on my playlist before the realization struck, but it did. The Moment I Knew just got onto my playlist after very little previous listening and I've realized how amazing that song is, with the epic cello and the heartbreaking lyrics. Even Me! will have its day. But I've loved the Archer since I first heard it, so its great to see you appreciating it after dissing it in your rankings (Emily!).

I really miss those backing vocalists! They must have lost a lot of income, as did Paul and the rest of the touring band, from the cancellation of Loverfest. I'm sure Taylor tried to help them, and I think I read something about that, but still their lives have obviously changed a lot. And they are awesome. I used to imagine they lived in Taylor's house, and everytime she dropped a jar or something they wold break into a chorus of "uh oh's". Sadly, no!

Haven't watched yet, but will when I'm off work! Just wanted to say that I've been hoping she'll do a few shows in a handful of cities for Loverfest to show us what she had in mind and to make a DVD for a wider audience. Rep was made with the tour in mind. No doubt. The tour makes that album make even more sense. And I can see that being the same for Lover.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I really loved hearing your thoughts. The Archer is one of my favorites off Lover, so watching you slowly pick apart what she means in it was really fun. I've always thought the line "I search for your dark side, but what if I'm alright, right, right right here." was a play on her feeling like 'no I am okay you don't have one', and her at the same time saying that possibly she is his dark side. Like she is the one causing problems in the relationship. Kinda like how she says in Peace "you paint dreamscapes on the wall and I talk shit with my friends" It would be so cool if you had time and wanted to react to Taylor at the Time 100 gala. She does Style, Delicate, Love Story, New Years Day, and Shake It Off. But it's Lover Taylor which is so fun. The video quality isn't fab but it's still fun to see her do.

Okay, I'm actually watching while I work....part of me wonders if the reaction to her rerecords took her by surprise a little. I also think she had a really clear vision for what the rerecords for Red and Fearless would be. But maybe the others are more complicated. She said in an interview for Debut that she had written 150 songs by the time she was 15 or 16. So a combination of seeing how on board the fans are with the rerecords and really wanting to get it RIGHT. Maybe she needed to take more time. I absolutely believe she direct and release a documentary about this process and hope it offers insight into the order and timing of the re-records

Thanks for the amazing content as always and I think it's a combination of things with the Re-Records...I honestly think that Taylor is hitting a wall in terms of the legalities surrounding Speak Now and 1989, because there is a licensing issue going on around the name Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and some other inferior product that just makes me go 🙄 and if I read right they only had a 10 year contract out for the rights to the name so I believe thats what's going on there and then with 1989 it's the whole Shake It Off drama and the judge that wouldn't dismiss the I'm sure frivolous lawsuit that is keeping her from reowning and descending us back into that spectacular era! That's what I think is going on and honestly yeah I think she just needed a break in the midst of all of it too 🙂. Also Lover Diaries?? Yasss!!

Loved this video so much! Must admit I cried a little bit there... Thank you for being so open about how Bonny relates to The Archer. I remember when Lover came out I was in the worst place ever emotionally, because I was in a relationship with the most superior man ever, who loved me and was genuinelly a good person, but me and my trauma could not fathom that and were ruing it all. I used to act exactly like The Archer and Afterglow describe it. Always ready for "combat", looking for the dark side in someone who didn't have one. When I first heard "But what if I'm alright here?" and "Help me hold on to you" I realized what was happening and what I needed to do. These songs helped me realize how I was acting out of projections of my own traumatic experiences and not real situations. They helped me be honest with my partner which helped him be more understanding with me. Lastly, it made me realize that I had to work through all that trauma to be able to keep that relatoinship going, so I started therapy. I was able to work through it. I now trust my partner, I don't look for fights, I believe in him. I lost all that anxiety. Sorry for venting so much, but in short, Bonny, I relate and you got this! Loved this soo so much.

As you yourself have said on other occasions, the only way to improve is to recognize what you are doing, and that is what you are doing. But you could have edited it out, and you didn't, so thank you for sharing with us. Look, You Need to Calm Down is in fact a great song. No, it is not Cruel Summer or Cornelia Street or Death by a Thousand Cuts, but it is a great song. Especially her voice; she really sings it well, with the low-pitched "you need to calm down". I guess what it does not do, like Me! also does not, is reward repeated listening. It is just all right there in front of you the first time you hear it, so it does not hold one's interest like many of the other songs on Lover. Its like jellybeans as compared to Black Forest cake (or whatever epic dessert you pick). But jellybeans are still great.

They did do a reaction to renegade; it is on YouTube. But its true they did not really buy this perspective at the time. But I agree with you; "my castle crumbled overnight" in Call it What You Want versus "If I had known how many pieces you had crumbled into" in Renegade is some supporting evidence, as well as the lyrics in Dress about Joe seeing her at her worst.

Theory: I have a feeing that Taylor was going to release another re-recording earlier this year, but when she was booked for the Tribeca Film Festival, she held off on entering another era and wanted to remain in Red to give her short film the attention it deserves. I definitely got caught up in the Easter eggs for 5/13 and was pretty disappointed when nothing happened, but I'm now in a place where I realize she's never let me down before. She knows the bigger picture and she loves to entertain us. I just need to enjoy the ride. BUT I CANNOT WAIT TO OFFICIALLY ENTER THE 1989 VAULT!!!

I honestly think so many people sleep on this era and this album, but I think a big part of that is because it got cut short and we don’t have the memories of tour or all the music videos she had planned, so people don’t feel as attached to it. Would love to know more about your algorithm of listening, do you have a playlist that rotates, how many songs at a time do you have? I find listening to Taylor songs in different ways can help you fathom them in different ways, like playlist with different songs from other albums. Sometimes it shakes this up!

I think that Taylors song ”Carolina” will be released on thursday!!!! The crawdads sing account on instagram has posted 12 photos today with what i think are lyrics from the song. BUT the exiting part is that in every caption there is one letter that is in italic and I’ve put all the letters together now and it said ”THIS THURSDAY” 🤩🤩🤩🤩 It must be the song, right?? WIDE EXPNASSIVE BEACHES, MAGIICAL MARSHES ,TIDAL POOLS AND RIVER TRIBUTARIES. TAYLOR DID SO WELL AS EXPECTED ;BUT SHE REALLY DID SO WELL CAPTURING THE HEAT AND PASSION OF THE AMERICAN SOUTH AND THE CAROLINAS SPECIFICALLY.

It's so funny how different all our favourites are. Honestly, Lover is up there with some of my favourite songs of all time. That melody just hits me in the feels every damn time.
