on rewatch for me, i've kinda fathomed some connections between the RED album and question...? like if jg had some outside-relationship connections, maybe the questions in the chorus are exposing how the relationship broke down over the course of those last month, like he hooked up with a girl in a club or something. and the "i remember" recall does sound like OOTW but also, in ATW she says "i remember" so MANY times!!

Just rewatched bc I woke up this morning and couldn‘t believe midnights exists. The Album concept to write songs about all the things that keep you up at night is so offensive, I‘m still im disbelief about how good this album is lol

Listening now I think she wrote midnights during a breakup/ on a break (best believe I'm still bejeweled! I want the penthouse of your heart - still wants Joe but could forget he exists when she meets someone new) and then getting back together (labyrinth "how'd you turn in right around", karma is my boyfriend, trying to see it in a positive light in "sweet nothing", he grounds her). And bejeweled, labyrinth, karma and sweet nothing is the exact order of songs..

Okay. So no one will see this probably because this is an older video but I am rewatching it now because it’s awesome! I feel uncomfortable even writing this because it’s absolutely NONE of my business and it’s so weird to speculate about this but Taylor has given us soooooo many hints about this that it’s not even subtle anymore. So………in All Too Well, Taylor said that the scarf was a metaphor and would not elaborate further. But in the song, she refers to the scarf as innocence. He can’t get rid of it because it’s not an actual scarf. It’s her “innocence”. Then in the video for I Bet You Think About Me, she literally “pops a cherry”. Then in Maroon, if we’re assuming it calls back to Red, she says the line, “the rubies that I gave up”. In the Bible it talks about a woman’s virtue (or virginity) being as precious as a ruby. So……..does this imply what I think it does? Also I absolutely am not trying to pry into Taylor’s most intimate details. I’m only trying to understand her lyrics and what they might mean and why the breakup with Jake was so devastating. Please don’t get mad at me!!!

having a huge fathoming over lavender haze being the first song you listen to where taylor describes wanting to stay in that love bubble she was feeling and then wrapping up the album by admitting to masterminding (new word) a relationship to even start and now you can see why it’s so important to her that she stays wrapped up in the love bubble because she created it!!! and she put in all this work to even make the relationship exist and now she’s feeling insecure about it and there’s all this outside noise that is just making it worse. you can see why it was so important to her to focus on the good of the relationship because she felt like she owed it to herself to make it work since she wanted it so bad in the first place

Thank you as always! Like everyone else, I confirm that yes, we want this! Since I never comment on Youtube because of my Internet paranoia, I'm glad to be able to comment on this here. You remember I was the one saying "OK, everybody, try to lower your expectations for Midnights; no one could ever match them". Well, obviously I was wrong about that! I do think, as you both said, that this album clearly reflects the processing she has had to go through in doing the re-recordings. But I also think it reflects her thinking about the fans and the music industry; she analyzed us and the business and gave us what we wanted and needed while completely taking over the charts. Given that attention she pays, I do wonder why she did not give Lana a verse--she knew we wanted that. Hope we find out why someday. I don't want to go on too long, but I did want to say that your original Bejeweled interpretation could easily be valid, as well as the Calvin and Joe interpretation. She is a master of double meanings, and it really could be both. Can't wait for the Anti-Hero featuring Bleachers reaction! I can just imagine her giggling as she released it anticipating your conniptions!

I love Taylor & respect her privacy—but she wouldn’t write such personal and detailed songs, like a song about how she cheated on her boyfriend and give the EXACT date, if she didn’t want us to gossip about her life. I think she wants privacy in her everyday life but i don’t think she minds if we dissect the meaning behind her music. She’s knows it’s part of the allure.

I do think sometimes she includes songs and details exactly for the purpose of speculation. I thought of "that's the way I loved you actually". It has such a similar theme. I'm convinced that song is about Fearless era as well because, hello? rain. It was the main theme of Fearless almost every song had some kind of reference to rain it.

I always thought with anti hero she was saying like how she's always so willing to root for some of the worst characters and give them a chance despite all of the harm they have caused but when it comes to her she's the harshest critic. "I'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror"

I had similar thoughts as you two when I first heard Midnight Rain, thinking Tom, but after fathoming it for a while, it makes me think it could be referencing the boy she talked about in We Were Happy on Fearless. She mentions the night/darkness several times, marriage, that she was at fault, and then of course rain was a huge thing on Fearless as a whole. "I wanted that pain" also could confirm the link from that song to The Way I Loved You (which, btw, randomly has a clock as the background on its official lyric video). To me it fits better than Tom, especially for "making my own name" and "chasing that fame" since she was already more famous than him at the time of their relationship. Just some random 3am thoughts I thought I'd share while watching this reaction for the 3rd time 😂

Hey fellow Chats and reacts , Bonny and Emily, and Taylor Switf fans! I'm looking for a place to get out an idea and need your help. And while I'm sure I'm not the only one with this idea, I've not seen anyone bring this up, so I'm hoping with your help maybe we can get this out into the TS universe! With the recent disaster with TM handling of the Earas tour I think one solution to the problem would be for TS to do a Streaming concert where we can buy tickets and be able to see her in concert! Imagine the streaming parties her fans could have and we would All be able to see her in concert! Anyway, If anyone likes this idea please do what you can to push this out into the Universe and hopefully some one brings this to actually happen!
