Joe Weaver

That thumbnail is too funny. What in the world caused that! 😂😂

Lynny Smith

One of my faves 🥹 the way she sings “so if I see you agaiiinnnn” something about it I just love

Ava Jeffs

I love the breathiness of this song! and I like to pair it in my mind with Mr. Perfectly Fine because we get the sassy side in that and with don't you we get the heartbreak. I am consistently overwhelmed by how she can capture two emotions in the same story/circumstance so well

Ava Jeffs

have to agree that I'm definitely a fan of the "big" songs on this album, since fearless, the way I loved you, and forever and always are my top 3 haha

kelsie

i feel like the “i swore i wouldn’t do this” is her upset with herself breaking the boundaries she set on her emotions. as if she ran through this scenario in her mind, if she were to ever run into him again. thinking she wouldn’t stare and ignore him and stay “strong” but she couldn’t help it. and because she stared and he noticed her, every other emotional boundary she set broke down when he approached her. he started a conversation filled with all these pleasantries of smiling at her and saying he’s missed her because to him, she seemed to want to talk because she was staring.

Ileana Isabel

Yes!! I really love the last line of the chorus in this song, and I agree with how you said the "why don't you" is kinda separate from the last "don't you?". I interpret it as the first being "why don't you love me anymore?" and the other being "don't you love me anymore?", especially given the line before it is talking about how much she still loves him. It's almost like the first one is more angry and questioning him and his feelings and his intentions. The last one sounds more heartbroken and questioning the situation itself, like "don't you love me anymore? don't you feel all these feelings I still feel for you? don't you want me back too?" 🙈🙈🙈 anyway, I got a little carried away, but I love this song so much!! And that line is one of my favorites

mieke

i agree that this one is probably about joe jonas, it really fits the whole narrative we get in mr perfectly fine. i personally think that the beat coming in throughout kinda sonically represents those strong emotions welling up as she tries to recover from this interaction retrospectively. the beat and the drums are there until almost the very end, and it feels like in the last 10 seconds, she‘s beginning to calm down again? and that‘s when we get a little jack fade too. i don‘t know lol, it‘s just how i like to think of it i love this song so much, it‘s my fav fearless vault track!! 💛

Sophia Lui

I feel like the instrument in the intro is an organ sound from a synthesiser, because organs have these big flutes where the sounds come through… but I’m not sure

Anna Miotello

I LOOOOVE Don't You. It's my favourite fearless vault track, probably because of the Jack production. It reminds me of The Archer and Labyrinth in that sense.

Kirrily Lewis

I love this one for the simplicity and easy sing along but also very relatable. I love the sound, it is beautiful and dreamy but that beat gives it a good kick.

Samskie

Oooh cannot wait to watch after work! Don't You is my favourite Fearless vault track 💕

Josh G

I LOVE THIS SONG!?!?

Maria Carmen

🤣🤣 had me on the floor

Iga W.

It's not my favourite Fearless vault track but I really do appreciate the simplicity of this song and Jack's production. My favourite part is the bridge - I don't know, there's something in the melody and this almost like echoey sound of "I don't want to pretend". Anyway, I cannot believe we're almost done with the Fearless era on patreon. It went so quickly! 💛🥺

Kelsey

The sound of this song reminds me a lot of when Taylor covered Phil Colin's Can't Stop Loving You, and when she did Carol King's Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. Along with Labyrinth and Archer, this synthy vibe and Taylor's voice just sound soooo good to my ears....I'd love an 80's Synthy album!

Derek Paris Frantz

You don’t know how much I’ve been waiting for this video 😩👏

Ana Noronha

I really really love this song

Annika 📍Melb, AU

Love this fathoming! Also, Bonny and Emily, I know you’re already doing THE MOST, but I selfishly am so keen for your podcast launch! I need your conversation in my ear holes as I walk around getting stuff done 😂 When is it coming!? Please and thank you! 🙏

Joe Weaver

TWILY, F&A & Tell Me Why are my three favorites on the album.

Joe Weaver

I think I'm Bonny & you are Emily on this one. I don't dislike it but I'd have it behind Mr Perfectly Fine, That's When & I'd have Bye Bye Baby as my third on the Vault list.

Jenny M

I agree with Bonny, Don't You doesn't feel like a Fearless Era, but it does make you wonder which Era It actually is, makes me wonder if it is the Folklore & Evermore Era.

sierra

yay! fearless tv is what we all need rn. also, request while we’re kinda in our disney channel era… I think you guys would like the album “with love from” by aly & aj it is actually so, so good with sooooo much lovely guitar!!!!!!!!!! I think you’d much prefer it over their 2021 album altho I would simply pass away if I could watch you guys listen to “slow dancing” for the first time 😅 one of my very very favs! please & thank you I know you guys have so much on your lists I just really think you’d like it 🥰❤️✨

Meg

Wait wait wait wait wait. Fathoming her show. Is the breakup why she burns down the Lover house?????

domdodom

I don't like this song because of the production

Ivey B

Definitely agree about the production not matching Fearless TV but absolutely love this song. Was a favorite as soon as I heard it. Seemed like Bonny did do some fathoming!!

Julia Fisher

i love Don’t You SO MUCH!!!!!! everyone must fathom

Jasna

Yesssss

Samskie

Maybe it was written around the time but it didn't work with the Fearless sound so got discarded as she was still very much in country, but then upon revisiting in 2020/1 and having worked on Lover, pop production and songs like This Love and mirrorball, those dreamy type songs, something clicked when going back to do rerecords and she had a lightbulb moment with Don't You. As I agree, it sounds much more like her recent styles.

Karen Valentino

I think the breakup with Joe Alwyn is the reason she burns down the Lover house. Just came to that conclusion a couple of days ago. It was really bugging me, couldn’t make sense of it. Because the Lover house was her and Joe so why burn it down? And then came the news. Now when I hear songs from Midnights realizing they haven’t been together for some unspecified amount of time, several could be interpreted to be about Joe. Alwyn, that is. (Hopefully the next bf won’t be named Joe.) 😉

Miantsa

I love this song SO SO much! People should really fathom. On first listen, I was instantly Obsessed with the SOUNDS! Fearless is one of my favorite albums of hers but I do agree that 'Don't You' doesn't really sound like Fearless! Still feel so blessed she gave us that, because I am a 'This Love' 'The Archer' 'this is me trying' girlie and I love this type of dream pop synthy pop vibe SO MUCH! Gotta say tho, I used to listen to that song on REPEAT but now I listen to it a little less (reminds me of not so fun times). Still my favorite Fearless vault track tied with 'That's When'. I think in comparison to many of her other songs, some people feel like the lyrics may not be as hard-hitting or poetic, I guess? To me this song really captures a VIBE, a feeling. The sound and production put me in a certain mood that complements the lyrics so well. And I love that song for it!

Guadalupe Trejo

Bonnie’s least favorite?? 😮 It’s my favorite of the vault tracks!! Loved your breakdown!

Nele

Hey girls, I have two pieces of information: 1. I'm pretty sure the instrument in the intro is a flute (I play flute myself) 2. I gifted myself the Rouje heart earrings today, after thinking about them for so long. My main intention for 2023 is to let more love into my life and so far it has been such a good year. I think heart shaped earrings are a really pretty representation and reminder for this intention. And of course now I am twinning with Taylor and you guys, which just makes them more special ❤️

chatsandreacts

ohhhh yes Ava, MPF and this song do seem like 2 sides of the same coin!!!

chatsandreacts

Tea! I hadnt thought about it like that but I loveeee this interpretation!

chatsandreacts

Mieke what you said about the beat representing the emotions... HELP!!! that is a lot for you to say

chatsandreacts

AHHHHH OMG the Phil Collins cover is SO SUPERIOR and I hadn't thought about how they sound so similar, but they really do!!

chatsandreacts

Awww thanks bestie!!! Currently it is on hold because we are trying to pump out the midnights breakdowns amongst other things (to keep it interesting on Youtube) and now with reacting to tour as well, we are struggling to find the time! But it WILL be coming at some point!! 🥰

chatsandreacts

Yes you might be right! I hadn't thought about the possibility of her writing more pop-oriented songs back then, but not being able to put them on Fearless because country production wouldn't work (and ultimately it was Scott's decision what the final sound was like back then)!

mieke

sweet like honey, bonny is a cat 🐱

Joe Weaver

We have discussed Bonny's relative catness before. 😂

Joe Weaver

It's not a bad thing for anyone reading that!

Samskie

Yeah she could have been starting to play around with a different writing style!

Andrea

I feel like this song main focus is the production. It really makes you feel like you're entranced, just listening to how music flows instead of focusing on the lyrics. Also, I've mentioned this before, and it reminds me of the cover she did of Phil Collins' Can't Stop Loving You.

chel

I can't explain why but i love this song so much, its in my top 50 Taylor swift songs ever haha

Daphne

First of all, I adore this song. The production/instruments have always felt SO Beatle-y to me. Go listen to Strawberry Fields Forever and you will hear it! Second of all, subscribing to your patreon was the best decision I ever made. You guys are my ultimate comfort watch and I can't get enough!

Alison

I feel like the tour visuals would have been done long before the breakup if we're believing the timeline. I think it has to do more with her rebuilding the house (re recording the albums)

Alex Engstrom

I understand that this song doesn't belong on Fearless but I do really like this song

Haley Woodrum

I love this song! I think it’s bc it gives me Bruce Springsteen “I’m on fire” vibes

subtle reads

I played the flute all throughout high school and the instrument at the beginning is definitely a flute. It’s just played in a lower register which I don’t think is as common or what most people are used to hearing from a flute. I also love Don’t You because I’ve definitely been in this situation with an ex and I’m so glad we have this song 💛

Lauren Levitt

For an idea u can film and release in July I would love a reaction to this video! https://youtu.be/M-A_RrOeoWw it’s a video of how the re-recordings effect the music industry and it makes Taylor looks like such a badass. Plus now tht we got a re-recording coming tht month it’s perfect timing 🥳 💜

Samawi A

OMG i am simply obsessed with this song and i consider it very special and close to my heart ❤️

Lauren Compasso-Yoder

This song is criminally underrated!! It’s BY FAR my favorite Fearless fault track which is saying something because they are all sooooo superior 💛 Something about this song is just so perfect to me. It scratches something in my brain that none of the other songs on this album can do. #Number1DontYouStan

skizzo

I absolutely love this song. To me it sounds like Gold Rush, This Love and Clean had a child

Breezy Bumbles

This song reminds me of her cover of “Can’t Stop Loving You “.

Breezy Bumbles

Don’t You is my favourite Fearless vault track.
