About her “may the best song win” process… it seems like she puts her ALL emotionally and personally into *every* song, so then it becomes a matter of what will relate the best… but it’s probably not like certain songs are more personal or special to her than others… they all are! So fascinating… I’ve always thought Taylor has an *impeccable* editing eye, and now I can see why.

Yeah ok that makes sense because I thought John Mayer would have been earlier in 2009, not the end of 2009! Because it made sense to me that her more recent relationship trauma was triggered when she was with the kind and secure Taylor Lautner, and she ran from him. Also the 1st of September is the start of Spring for us and the start of Autumn for the northern hemisphere, so she would have met Taylor Lautner in the summer before the VMAs

I'm thinking and rethinking this-- she might have taken up with him after Lautner, even though he approached her earlier. His album didn't drop until spring 2010, even though they were working on in earlier. For us, summer "ends" September 21st. deleted the earlier post, cuz I second guess myself to death. taylor had to of dated john mayer first. we know she was 19 when they dated & she turned 20 in december 2009. we also know that taylor & taylor lautner were dating when the 2009 vma situation happened which was in september. they obviously broke up in december 2009. so taylor must've dated john in early 2009. unless she dated john mayer in 2009, then dated taylor lautner, & then in 2010 got back together with john

I think her first home she lived in alone was in Nashville! It probably took so long between buying and moving in because she had it renovated before she moved in. It was made to have more of her whimsical style that she embodied at the time, and even had a human sized birdcage! You can see a lot of that same bird cage energy in this video. Haha. I know, I was thinking the same thing! But, although she does look about 13 here, she's actually 20 and certainly capable of having such fantasies, it's just not the image the public had of her at the time. I tend to think she didn't even pitch this song to her label, probably never recorded a demo or anything, it was her guilty pleasure that she only shared with Abigail or something, until she and we were ready. That's how I imagine the scenario anyway.

I have something to say. It doesn’t even really pertain to this video but I would like to point out that Taylor once said (and I can’t remember where I saw her say this) that we don’t always guess who the songs are about correctly because we only know about the relationships that were photographed. Um, excuse me? Do you realize this means that there are beaus we don’t know about and that there are songs about them, and we can’t and never will fathom them? WHAT?

From what I have heard about this, it was something the fans pointed out to her either after Red or after 1989 (someone else might know the timeline for sure). So, definitely from Rep on, she did it intentionally. Red and prior, it was either a coincidence or just a good spot to put a song like that. Related…I think Taylor has also said that the last track is how she’s feeling when she finishes the album. I’ve heard someone else say that track 3 is often where record labels/artists will put the single. These last two things are just what I’ve heard from YouTubers and I don’t have sources. The track 5 thing is something I’ve heard/seen multiple people confirm.
