I have put this in the Discord but 1989 is a BIG DEAL in our house. The SIO video came out when my daughter was 1. It was the song that immediately calmed her down when she was having a huge "seven" type crying screaming baby-fit. 1989 is HER ALBUM and she's had some of the songs be her requested lullaby to go to sleep over the years. I took her to Eras in Arlington N3 and cried a lot watching her watching Taylor - her first ever concert was the most amazing thing and it's all just so much right now <3

i went to the 8/8 show and my bracelet all day yesterday was blue and then when the show started, it was blinking blue the whole time!! that’s when i was even more convinced she would announce it

but I think it said that it was 21 songs in total, and there are 16 original songs including the deluxe and it said it was 5 vault tracks, so 16 + 5 = 21 so there can't be anything else but the original songs and vault tracks I think as I've understood it 😊 (unless something unexpected happens that is, you can never know with her, can you?😆)

I was wondering the most about 1989. Max Martin is now $250k usd per song, which is why he wasn't on the red TV tracks. And legally she can't do certain songs exactly. She mentioned back in the day she wrote 100+ songs for SN, 30 for Red. Etc. It makes me wonder the parameters for the vault tracks of which do big machine still have control over and which they don't.

Absolutely, I felt the same way. She thanked the fans for supporting her, her tour, and her re-recordings, then sang this. The smile on her face told us she was absolutely singing to the fans. "I want your midnights" because she always releases things at midnight and we're always there for it! "Hold on to the memories" of the Eras tour experience. "Please don't ever become a stranger" gives me Long Live vibes, "Please tell them my name." She is slowly refathoming so many of her Joe songs on this tour, it really is a therapy to her in so many ways.

Well, Taylor has never openly said that she wrote 150 songs for 1989. What happened is that in an interview with Rolling Stone she said, "even if I had written 100 songs for the (1989) album I would still have cut them down. at 13" in the sense that compared to Red, she had a greater critical sense because the album (1989) needed to be sonically cohesive. And what Taylor has a lot of, for any of her albums in general, but 1989 specifically, is voice memos. Which doesn't count as new songs, but several basic versions of songs we already know. No wonder Clean has 3 different demos. Because Taylor's artistic peak is during midnight when there's no sound or nobody around so she has to record these ideas coming into her head so she can take them to the studio. And the 150 songs was a fan who threw this fake news on Reddit and it ended up spreading and people took it as the truth. It was a combo of misinterpretation and false information. The re-recording besides Red, which may have more tracks is Reputation. Since Taylor herself in an interview at Apple (during the Lover era) said that she couldn't stop writing for Reputation and for the album. But we don't have an exact number of tracks either.

Thank you! Was about to comment the same thing. The 5 vault songs really makes sense to me given the absolute INTENTIONAL way that Taylor went into making 1989 - she went in with such a specific sound, mood, and idea for the album, and was unlike how she approached the processes for writing her previous albums that to me it makes a lot of sense that she would have fewer songs that were in the making of period because she was so specific in the way she wanted the album to sound and feel. It also may be why she thinks they're some of the best vault songs - previously she would just write and write and write to process, and many would end up on the cutting room floor because they may have ended up being more songs that she used for processing but not quite up to album standard. Whereas for 1989, each one would have been written with the album in mind. Absolutely can't WAIT tfor October 27th! 💙💙💙

GUYS!!!!! I just saw this TikTok. So there was 112 days between start of tour to speak now release date. 112 days between speak now date and 1989 release date. The next date is 16 FEB!!! MELBOURNE N1 AT THE MCG!!!!!!! (OMG MY SHOW - my REP heart is dying) For reputation release date!!!!!!!! Announced at Sao Paulo, Brazil on 26 Nov. (which i just checked and is also the last date for the tour for the year) This makes soooo much sense because MCG is her biggest show she's ever performed. She would have SOMETHING planned! then the next 112 days is 7 jun in UK for Debut. She said in LA - "the crowd had been hopping like kangaroos". All these 16 week periods add up to being like a clock face - like the midnights clock. WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNNN!!!!
