I almost went to this tour but my mom is a boomer and didn't know how to get tickets and it would've been my first concert 🙃 She thought the capital one Pre-sale meant that only people with one could get tickets. She didn't realize that there was also a general sale. I was like 18 and didn't know much about ticket buying either. I'm an expert now!

I love the 1989 tour, but I also feel sad because it’s hard to miss the evidence of her eating disorder. She’s looking so strong on Eras tour, like each concert could double in length and she would maintain that glow she has now and that high level of energy from start to finish. I’m glad for her.

I watched a vocal coach compare this tour to now and she is actually not breathing as well as she could here. She breathes better now but I'm sure she can still sing this style she is just, dare I say...better now

I think the video version you watched is maybe a more recent edit (last couple of years)? I don't recall the original version of this tour video that was release by Apple/iTunes being edited quite in this way. This edit cuts some of the wideshots out and has more zoom-ins and such. You may want to try and view the original version at some point. This was GREAT, however, and I'm so happy you guys did this!

I’m wondering if having all male dancers was a play on the “slut” shaming that happened during this era? She’s parodying the ‘Taylor-bounces-from-guy-to-guy’ narrative. Taylor has always been able to make art out of the rocks that people throw at her, and I’m wondering if that’s exactly what she’s doing here. This is why she’s a genius!

In the Miss Americana documentary, Taylor said that she had an eating disorder during this time and wasn’t eating before going out on stage, so she’d always be exhausted. The fact that she is stronger vocally now and has the stamina to do 3.5hr performances, shows that she’s in a much healthier place now

I remember she explained the Blank Space bridge once! She said the full sentiment is "boys only want love if it's torture, but a real man texts you back." As in, boys will leave you guessing/wondering/chasing and giving you just enough so that you don't leave but not so much that you feel secure, but a real man will step up and actually be reliably present in the relationship. Very close to what Bonnie was saying.

I think she once said/quoted something along the lines of: "BOYS only want love if it's messy and up-and-down, MEN want love that is real and secure." I always kinda interpreted the Blank Space bridge in that way too AND in my head this got sort of confirmed with the vault tracks. "Remind myself the more I gave you'd want me less." in NTWDT for example. Like, she's having a bit of a dig at him there for displaying BOY-behaviour... But I also like your interpretation.

It's really interesting to me that the Style music video type visuals were used for Clean on the tour and now in the TV lyric vid because I remember the first time I ever watched the Style mv I thought that when she wrote the song she was clearly not over him but by the time she made the music vid she clearly was (at the time I was not following her irl and wasn't aware of her dating life and just intuited this from the visuals), and to me those visuals fit Clean way more than Style...

I already left a very lengthy comment here, but I just have to say a few more things: 1. About here vocals in this tour: I recently watched a reaction of a vocal coach on Youtube. Her name is Songs From A Suitcase and she reacts to the Wildest Dreams/Enchanted mashup. She really likes Taylor and is always proud of her vocal evolution, but is also honest whilst remaining respectful. She said that Taylor's vocals sound very good and cool on this tour BUT she can also hear (as a vocal coach) that there are things going on in her vocal cords that wouldn't allow her to have a very long-lasting career as a singer if she continued to do them frequently. She also said that in clips she saw of The Eras tour, Taylor sounds even better to her, because now she sounds very good AND she does it in a much healthier way that will allow her to go on for a long time. She explains it better in the video if you want to watch it. 2. I feel like the order of the tracklist really tells the story of this time in her life (or at least a version of the story that she was comfortable with being public at the time) if you don't count the guests and Bad Blood. - WTNY: This is where we are. - NR: This is our mindset. - BS: This is what people are saying about me. - IKYWT: The first time I met him, I knew it wouldn't last. - IWYW: But I wish you would come back and fight for this. - HYGTG: He came back. - IKP: Then, the world started to influence the relationship. - AYHTDWS: They broke up again. - YAIL/Clean/Love Story: She's really thinking about what love is, wondering how that would feel and figuring out when it's time to let go. - Style: But then again, they will never really go out of style for each other. - TL: So, they got back together again. - BB: Not really relevant to the story, but you could in this context see it as "They broke up again". - WANGBT: This time, they won't get back together again. - THE mashup: Even if it is really over now, I hope you'll remember me because I was enchanted to meet you. OOTW: Reflecting on the relationship and fathoming that THEY were actually the problem. + Looking back on the ambiguity of the relationship and wondering if it is ever truly over. - SIO: But, even if it is really over now and the world will keep on hating me, I will be fine and I'm determined to have fun. I'm pretty sure she doesn't growl as much because it is hard on the vocal chords after a while. She also stopped leaning back when doing high notes (specifically now on the eras tour.) It's just so clear to me that she has worked on her vocals SO MUCH (like she literally doesn't mess up a single note anymore when she used to be quite pitchy live in the beginning) and got a really good performance coach to make sure the whole tour is sustainable. And you just can't growl every night for over 150 shows, sadly

Just to add about the '1989 tone's Bonny keeps talking About. I feel like it's that in-between phase of having a bit of a rough voice (not truly perfect like it is now) which does give it a particular charm. But again, I just don't think it's healthy for the vocal chords in the long run

I also was going to mention, Bonny was talking about Taylor's style of singing in this era. While I like it too, its actually very damaging to your vocal chords to sing that way all the time. She has really adapted her style to more open sounding vocals, which is so much better for the vocal chords. I'm sure this is a conscious choice, so she can save her voice and sing longer. And especially right now, with her singing over 3 hours per show, and her tour getting longer and longer.

this is a safe space, so i feel ok saying that i actually don't like the rock versions of IKYWT & WANEGBT. rock is just not my kind of music. i do wonder though if bleachella and the whole karma thing was leading to be a rock album. maybe those 2 performances were teasing TS 6 as a rock album

It makes so much sense for her to close with Shake it Off I think, not just because it’s her big hit, but I also like the message of it and the tone she leaves the night on. She plays this character all night, telling the story about this person the media has created and how it’s affected her in real life. We get this huge dark moment with OOTW but then she pops back up with this sparkly two piece and says “nah I’m just gunna shake it all off” It leaves the night in such an uplifting positive note!!

The electric guitar 1989 tour WANEGBT is one of the first things I send to Taylor skeptics, depending on their musical preferences. If they skew toward acoustic, it's going a long pond session song. But I love this a whole lot.

After releasing 1989, she started exploring rock sounds like the rock renditions of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and I Knew You Were Trouble on this 1989 World Tour. And even started to add more aggression to her belts and bridges like the Out Of The Woods performance that had loads of rasp. I believe this fascination for rock grew and became the sound for Karma. As you discussed, she’s never picked up the electric guitar since to do anything rock sounding because I believe she explored all of that already on Karma but we just never got to hear it. To me, it seems like a great transition from two huge personality albums (1989 & Rep) into another. Therefore I am so excited for what’s to come next! Karma clown forever!!! 💙🧡🖤

Fathoming that Emily was in this crowd is so great. You really see the ties to this current tour. Seeing the same lady (and I'm sure it's more than one) who's next to her in the last great american dynasty during this tour is also really cool. Also, i watched this before knowing she did bigger than the whole sky tonight so, ya know. I'll just be a puddle.

it's crazy to watch this tour and then watch rep or eras...she looks so fragile here in comparison. I don't remember at the time thinking she was scary thin during this era but now knowing how much she was struggling behind the scenes it makes me emotional to see how much her body has changed in the years since. she looks so much more powerful and healthy in more recent footage, I'm so proud of how far she's come:)

Rewatching the 1989 World Tour has me realizing that the new background video on Spotify for I Know Places TV was actually a reference to THIS performance and tour visuals !! With the doors and the vultures. I was so delusional thinking it was also a link to Rep and potentially Karma hahaha since the themes of I Know Places fit with the overexposure and media scrutiny leading up to those times (I mean, it could still be a double easter egg but I'm putting my clown mask back in the drawer for a bit lol)

i think there is reason why the editing is so dizzy. The stadium is huge but they only have one night to film (there is only one night in sydney) and the camera man cannot get on stage because the runway is narrow and the number of people on stage when it is moving is limited so that all shots can only rely on cameras hanging in the air and photographers on either side of the runway, which means there're not a lot of shots available for use.. At the same time, rep tour filmed 2 shows and have camera man on stage, The Eras Tour filmed 3 shows and have camera man on stage too.

So 1989 was my first real re-record and my first favourite album (well after Folkore of course). Your videos and fathomings are helping me learn and love the girl and the young woman who became THE Taylor Swift and I’m so obsessed! Another powerful thing about her choice to bring so many other amazing performers onto her stage, was that the few years leading up to this tour were full of articles like "13 celebs who have a problem with Taylor Swift". I remember seeing constant discussions in the media about all the "drama" she was involved in. Most of which was fabricated or taken out of context So just like Blank Space was a clap back about her reputation as the crazy serial dater girl, having friends come out on stage every night (being seen having fun and giving her hugs) was a bit of a clap back about her reputation as somone insufferable to be around
