hello!!! happy friday~ in this episode, I talk about a recent breakthrough I've had in therapy, along with the status of my current overwhelm brain. :') I hope you enjoy my musings!! I feel like it's helpful for me to talk this stuff through with y'all cause I like sharing how I'm learning/growing and it also helps me process the information better <33 so thank you for listening!!!!!!

Fellow HSP! I’m sure your therapist recommended it but the book The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron, who did the original research, is so good and it was so validating for me to read. Also just wanted to say that its also so validating to see someone else who is emotionally affected easily by things and is a cry baby (affectionate) so thank you for sharing that part of yourself!

I have also played so many video games to disconnect from my body! And I think you undervalue how much you do, though of course I also absolutely empathize with feeling out of control of one's life and wanting to reclaim it!

I so completely relate to this. I’ve found a lot of my own perfectionism and my own aversion to certain emotions come at least in part from a place of feeling unsafe. Like my nervous system genuinely thinks I’m in danger when I’m uncomfortable or bad at something — and I’ve found that literally telling myself “uncomfortable is not unsafe” helps me move through the moment.

i’ve followed you for years now chey, since your bujo days, and gosh do you have a way of speaking exactly to my heart and feelings. your openness and vulnerability always makes me feel seen, because i think we experience the world in a very similar way (fellow perfectionist HSP with exec dysfunction!!). i just wanted to say that you’re inspiring to me because of the way you think and move through and exist in the difficult stuff, even if that’s the most challenging part. thank you, always, for sharing with us. you make me feel a little less alone— and i hope we make you feel that way too 🩷

the "emotionally porus" thing is soooo real. i definitely also try to manage the feelings around me and im learning how its not healthy but im still struggling with how to stoppp 😅 appreciate u sharing as always chey 💓

I absolutely understand what you're talking about! So nice to hear someone else experience it because so few talk about it! I only managed to get through 3 ep of Arcane before I had to give up to preserve ny mental sanity sadly :,) Also, there is currently a debate going on if HSP is just another name for Autism (or CPTSD, BPD etc.) used to avoid the abelism those diagnosis brings with. If HSP bring you comfort absolutely use that titel!! We all need that in our life! But it might be worth exploring Autism etc. aswell whenever you have the processing power. (especially since ADHD/Autism overlapp is like 75%)
