Howdy! I totally resonate with your frustrations and long sighs re:everything workflow related being connected to mental health and stability. I’m currently a full time designer for an apparel company where I draw mostly kitschy wine mom and dog mom tshirts and sometimes I feel not as fulfilled as I should because my bad brain chemicals want me to be doing more sophisticated work and painting or trying to do freelance/commission work.... but this feeling is often dictated by external stimuli: what my other design pals are doing for work, what my hormones are doing, how much sleep I got etc. It’s nice to not feel alone in that headspace, so thanks for sharing! I’m currently designing a bunch of shirts for Target which is cool! Have a lovey weekend :)

I don’t think you sound like a broken record at all because most of what you talk about is what a lot of us are going through but you inspire us because of how much of it you share openly. If anything you help us work through it too. You are brave and incredibly talented. I’m very much an all or nothing person as well and it’s a lot. I know you aren’t sure where you’ll be taking your brand, but look how insanely far it has come. You built this beautiful thing. 💜

Totoro! I love Totoro. I dressed up as him for Comic Con last year. You should also see Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. All of Ghibli's works are amazing but they're my favourite. It's been the worst fire season here in Australia and our prime minister needs kicking out. He went on holiday to Hawaii while our country is in crisis and then gave leave to another minister who is in charge of the fire crisis to also go on holiday. Where I'm at it's not too bad fire-wise and we've been lucky but the city where I'm at has had fires surrounding it on all sides. Thankfully we've had a tiny bit of rain but it's only been enough to have dust and ash settle on everything and killed fish in the rivers. There's a need for knitted items for injured animals like little pouches and places to donate funds where people don't knit or sew. A friend of mine is a talented artist and is donating half her funds from her designs to a koala refuge. I have my print in my entry way. :) I am keen for washi tape so much! I am happy to use whatever designs you create. You're such a kind human being. I'm glad that you're having a break from work and chilling. You deserve it for sure! You inspire me so much. I love the little community you've created and I adore how bright and happy the art you make makes me feel. It's a bright spot lately because I've been struggling mentally and procrastinating my business. I need to find a job where I'm not being abused but it's hard at the moment where no one is really hiring, but I'm trying. Everything else in life is perfectly fine, just the anxiety of being constantly picked at on a regular basis has been getting me down and they know of and use my mental health against me. I will get there eventually, and fitness certainly helps with it. I go to fitness classes locally which get me out of the house and reduce the pressure in my chest from anxiety, so honouring your bodies by moving even going walking is so good! When the weather is good I enjoy finding a picnic table to sit and draw. :) We will never get sick of you. We're all here loving that you're having time off and we adore you. We love how real you are and it makes us feel a little bit less alone knowing someone else goes through what we go through. We love all that you create. You're not a broken record. You're human. Do take better care of yourself. Do things that bring you joy. Procrastination is a part of life so do work on how to not procrastinate but don't bash yourself for falling into it from time to time. It's hard to get out of the cyclical thoughts. Be kind to yourself. <3

I actually really like it when you talk about how you’ve been even if it’s not anything new. I sort of think of you as my gym buddy in a way but for bettering my mental health. I tend to spiral and catastrophize as well. Intellectually I understand that progress isn’t linear but to have someone candidly talk about how they’ve had a rough (or good!!) month makes me feel less alone. The journey to overall progress feels less daunting. I’m glad you had a chance to relax.

I loved this 💕 I definitely need to be kinder to myself as well, I’m so guilty of judging myself harshly for the same things I would tell others to let go of. It’s rough.

I just recently upgraded my tier so expect some random comments from me on old episodes ;) Anyway, I wanted to share how I related to the feeling of not feeling like spending time in your sketchbook is actually a work activity. I own a bookkeeping business and I operate as a bookkeeper, manager, and owner for the business. While it doesn't make sense that Bookkeeper Brenna spends work time reading books, it is crucial that Owner Brenna and Manager Brenna are reading business books and attending business development webinars, etc. and that it is considered paid working time. I've literally had to conceptualize myself as three different people to help wrap my head around the whole thing haha!
