Tomorrow I’ll be recording an entire podcast episode solely on the topic of money management in sports betting. If you have any specific questions regarding money management or would like me to discuss anything else relating to it, please send me a message in my Patreon inbox or post it in the comments section below. As always, I want to tailor my content to exactly what you guys want/need. This podcast episode will be part of the Luca’s Lecture series, included in the Pound-for-Pound tier and above.

I would mention something about organizing your thoughts very well before placing bets - for example a few weeks ago i went to a casino to place my bets. i knew what i wanted to play and went 7-1 on my picks YET I MANAGED TO LOSE $200. I didnt have a plan. i played a bunch of straight plays and a mish mash of parlays of varying amounts with the picks on them slapped together as i went along and the one pick i had wrong wasn't even on all of them but I had no real plan and winged it and wasted a ton of winning picks. so bet proper size and HAVE A DEFINITE PLAN. i would stress that.

And I would mention not to worry about bet size. Make good bets and scale up as you profit. Betting for profit is about compounding gains and it will scale up. Draftkings in NY at least will let you bet as little as 10 cents so theres no excuse why a small bankroll cant be played. And its just as much fun winning small as it is big in the end when you take out the cost of the heart attack you have when betting large.

I would like you to go in on how you determine unit size on a bet do you have a formula or just your gut? Also when does a chalk line push you away. If you feel a favorite is being under valued do you bet it no matter what. Is -200 to high for you to play? What rules do you apply there. When you look at a card or fight what do you look at or look to stand out to attract a wager. I’m looking for more subtle nuisances like that please.

What about book shopping? Onshore, offshore? Are certain books known to be softer for MMA or have more available MMA events with odds? Do you ever bet smaller shows, such as a CageWarriors, a CFFC, or anything else on UFC Fight Pass with available betting odds. Is there a way to approach betting fights without the benefit of a lot of tape study, where both the punter and the book have less information? At an absolute minimum, what information would you want to have, via tape study or otherwise, before placing a bet on a fight? Thanks for your work!
