Even though I've heard of this, I think it's fair to call it underrated.  The 90s aren't well known for this type of movie and I think it's great - a perfect mix of horror, grossness, and comedy!

Speaking as an arachnophobe (who once saw spider descending towards my face while lying in bed and instinctively slashed at it with a sword that was coincidentally next to my bed) I completely agree with your assessment of this movie! Random trivia: Most of the little spiders in this movie were non poisonous Avondale spiders from NZ.
