It's finally time!  The most controversial of the Rocky movies, with maybe my hottest take ever, which is...I LIKED IT!  Definitely flawed, certainly not my favorite Rocky, but not at all bad in my opinion.  And in fact, I liked it even more during the editing re-watch.  But what do you think?

PS: for the new folks, there is a full reaction for this, it was posted a few weeks ago, October caught up to me before I could finish the edit!

I've always liked 5 more than 4 which is a lot of peoples' favorite. The extra scene with Mickey alone makes this one worth watching.

I think why a lotta fans disliked it, including me was this was announced at the time to be the last Rocky movie and it just felt like a weird plot to end it on. Having a Don King-ish character being the main antagonist felt uninspired and not having Rocky fight int he ring as that was basically the formula of the story was off putting to a bunch of peeps. Over the years it has become more poignant with the father son story since that was Stallone's real kid acting in it and what happened to him in real life.

Aha, see, that's very fair. That kumquat barely counted as an antagonist, he was just a pain in the ass. I don't feel like this movie really had one, other than maybe the harsh reality of life. And yeah, if you think it's going to be the end, you're expecting something more bombastic, especially after what IV did, and instead you get more of a personal low stakes story. I can see it. And I hate to ask, but what happened to Stallone's kid?

He passed away at 36 from a heart attack I think. Stallone got super depressed and almost did not come back for the Creed movies, but the director managed to convince him it might be cathartic for him.
